Easy stroll to several organic restaurants and shops - Alchemy, Yellow Flower Cafe, Wayan's Juice Bar. Walking distance to museums and galleries. Near shopping, many temples, yoga and meditation center. Not to mention the blissfully relaxing health spas. 60 meters to the road, yet quiet and serene. Motor bike parking on site. Easy access to Airport; transport can be arranged with our local driver. Beautiful newly renovated bathroom with western toilet, deep terrazzo soaking tub, shower and jasmine garden!

Penestanan is a lovely village on the outskirts of Ubud, a 20 minute walk from the center of town, or 5 minutes by motorbike or car. A lovely rice field village, it is the cultural center of Bali; rich with local handicrafts and artists. It is about a one hour drive from the Denpassar airport. Centrally located in Bali, there are several beaches, a volcano and many temples all within an hour’s drive. Peaceful and filled with natural beauty, the sounds at night are the music of the rice fields - frogs and birds and night insects, with the occasional drift of gamelan from the village. With an altitude of roughly 700 feet, it is cooler then the beaches, with a fragrant tropical breeze most nights. There are numerous restaurants nearby for any budget, great night-life, yoga studios and access to spas & every healing modality imaginable.

We couldn't have had a better time at Villa Damai in Ubud Bali. The Villa was spotlessly cleaned each day by sweet and welcoming staff and every one of our needs was met beyond our expectations. We loved the decor and atmosphere and the convenience of being so close to the centre of Ubud yet tucked away in a quiet natural environment. The open air bathroom was a highlight and we even managed a sumptuous soak in the tub during an afternoon rainstorm. Even though there are other villas close by there is total privacy and what a treat to be able to dip in the plunge pool, watch the butterflies and soak up the fragrance and atmosphere of Bali. There's an excellent spa nearby and a wonderful eatery - Bubu's warung. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back!
Owner's Response: To avoid confusion with nearby properties, we had to change the name from Villa Damai to Villa Kebun Damai (Peaceful Garden). This is the same location that Rachel reviewed.
