Temeraire Court is a Georgian Grade 2 Listed former hotel which has been totally refurbished to reflect the beauty and detail of the period. A grand entrance hall and elegant spiral staircase lead to our stylish 1st floor balcony apartment with panoramic views over the Winter Gardens and Sea.

The apartment features a light, airy, open-plan Kitchen/Living/Dining room with 2 leather recliner chairs and matching double sofa bed, Free view LCD TV and DVD, with surround sound system,fully equipped kitchen and a dining table that seats 4-6 people. large Georgian bay windows open out onto a balcony from where you can watch the sunset across the Winter Gardens and out to sea.Off road private parking in rear courtyard.

Buses stop just outside, whilst opposite, our other Georgian ( very spacious raised ground floor 2 bed /2 bath) flat is also available if you need more accommodation. Plus it's less than a mile to the station- and only 90 minutes to London!

The South East England / Kent region: As the first seaside resort in the country, Margate has drawn visitors ever since the 1730s. The 700 year old harbour had been extensively used by the sailing hoys which regularly plied their trade from London. However, a new cargo inundated the town in the 18th century when boatloads of holiday makers came to try out Benjamin Beale's wonderful, new innovation. A local inventor, he patented a bathing machine which allowed for therapeutic and modest bathing. Little, wooden huts were pulled into the sea and the bather could then descend into the water covered by a canvas. The introduction in 1814 of 'Steam Yachts' caused rapid expansion which continued throughout the 19th century. The wooden jetty was constructed in 1824 and the famous iron jetty in 1855 which allowed visitors to disembark from the visiting steam packs.

Margate Area: The harbour town of Ramsgate, with its lively marina and ferry port is 5 miles away, whilst ever popular Broadstairs is only 4 miles away. The whole Thanet coastline has miles of sandy beaches and dramatic cliff top walks for you to explore.

The Winter Gardens host year round live entertainments to suit the entire family.

For the more active, the scenic Viking Coastal Trail is a 27 mile-long route or six shorter themed routes for cycling or walking. Bike hire is available locally.

There are several golf courses in the area, wild life / nature / RSPB sites.

Water sports are very popular and jet skiing, surfing, boat trips and fishing are all readily available.

Margate has direct rail links to London so you might want to head into the city to catch some West End Theatre and shopping or visit the famous London Landmarks. London is approximate 90 mins away by train -

Trans Europa Car Ferries operate 4 sailings a day to Ostende in Belgium from Ramsgate Harbour. Great for a day trip to Europe!

very nice place to have a beautiful holiday

We stayed at the apartment for a week and we were very excited to have such spacious and comfortable rooms. Everything was very clean so we weren´t afraid it was like home. Furthermore we did have a private car park and when possible a car park in front of the apartment. A Aldi store is nearby with excellent domestic english food, so everything is like we use to. In addition I have heardt and seen many pups and restaurant within comfortable distance of the apartment. The train station was a bit to far for walking with small children, so I preffered to use my car and I payed in front of the station a whole day ticket . The train is a very cheap option to get to London to avoid congestion when you travel to such a huge and important city. As a final review I would recommend this appartment to families with small children aged between 5- 10 years as a unique chance to have a great holiday.

Margate hideaway October half term 2010

The flat was exactly as described clean and well maintained. Directions to get there useful. The flat is within easy walking distance of the centre of Margate and shops for anyone. The tea, coffee, biscuits and milk on arrival very welcome. Owners very nice people who are easy to access via email or phone if any queries or problems. Loads of places to eat nearby. Would recommend Toby carvery (cheap but excellent food) between Margate and Broadstairs just past shopping complex.(Westfield) Dover castle a must see attraction. Beaches wonderful but time of tides would be useful to know.

Charming, Spotless and Toughtfully Equipped

The two of us stayed here at the end of October ’09 for 4 nights.

First of all was very quick and easy. The owner also provided detailed information, which was very helpful. The first impression when you walk through the door is the ‘quality’ feel. The furnishing, fixtures and all of the equipment provided were not only extensive but all fitted into what I would describe as contemporary Georgian. The second noticeable aspect was how spotlessly clean everywhere was. And then, for me, the view was stunning. Overlooking large lawns onto a wide promenade and then the sea. The apartment is on the edge of town, so a short stroll, but away from the noise of it.

Since the package tourist industry emigrated to Spain a large part of Margate has been neglected. The exception is the old town. Located behind the harbour it is an attractive maze of streets which peppered with galleries, ‘bohemian eateries, a few traditional pubs and various other, some unusual, retail outlets. It seems to be epicentre of Margate’s regeneration as a traditional seaside town which will be given a bigger boost with the opening of the impressive Turner building. The abundance of Blue Flag beaches will no doubt help. A short hop in the car takes you to Broadstairs and Ramsgate, both of which have absolutely charming harbour sides. And a big must is a visit to Canterbury Cathedral.

All in all we had a pleasant few days. I do recommend the apartment we stayed in. Peaceful, comfortable, pristinely clean and well equipped.

Perfect Romantic Getaway

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week and I will try to explain how amazing it was as concisely as possible.

Accomodation: The pictures simply do not do the apartment justice. The apartment is more well-furnished and spacious than the pictures even show. The kitchen and living area is decorated in a classic contemporary style with tons of open space and a breathtaking view of the ocean. The apartment comes fully equipped with cooking supplies, etc. and is set up as truly a home away from home, even down to a spare umbrella in case you need an extra one. The beds are very plush and you just have to be careful not to sleep in too long or you'll miss the beautiful scenery, including a panoramic view of the sun rising and setting. Also, the dining area/living room is equipped with a surround sound system, so bring some nice CD's to listen to while you get ready/cook.

Local Area: Margate is a perfect getaway place. There is an Aldi store within 2 minutes of walking from the apartment where you can get groceries, flowers, etc. Also within 10 minutes of walking you can access a huge variety of shops, restaurants, pubs, bars, beaches, and entertainment. It's a perfect place for anyone because there is beautiful scenery (including beaches you can take long walks on at any time), shops for those that love to do some shopping, all types of delicious food to appease any appetite, casinos and bars for those who love night life, and family events including a theater right across the street and a playground for the kids on the beach. You don't need a car unless 15 minutes of easy walking wears you out and you can't possibly run out of things to do.

Perfect for: Anyone, unless you are looking for busy city life and upscale, expensive shops. If New York City is your perfect vacation spot, then Margate is not the place for you. It has a small town feel, but with so much to do and explore, it feels much larger.

Some recommendations: Bring umbrellas just in case. The local restaurants are great, but buying your own groceries and using the apartment's kitchen to have some quality home cooking time is wonderful too. The apartment is so lovely, you won't mind staying in and enjoying some nice home cooked food. Some local places we went that were great were the Indian Princess (upscale Indian food), Newbys (upscale steak/seafood), and Kabuki (a modern-feeling bar that's good for lounging/and or dancing).
