18 Admiral's Quay is part of a beautiful development of condo's located in the Rodney Bay Village. It is within walking distance of Reduit Beach, Restaurants, Shops and Bars.
This property is an ideal “getaway from it all” retreat for anyone seeking a true home away from home.
There are 2 bedrooms on the upper level.
Downstairs there is a well equipped Kitchen, Powder Room, Dining Room and Living Room. The living room leads out on to the back patio. The patio is set up with a table and chairs and sun loungers.
During the day relax and watch the birds in the garden, in the evening listen to the relaxing tones of St. Lucia’s tree frogs (no larger than the size of your thumbnail) playing the long loved whistling tone which many of our guests wish they could take home with them.
We visited with our two children (2.5 and 4.5) in Apr/May15
The location of the property is excellent, yards from the pool, a short 5 min walk to the beautiful Reduit beach, 10mins to the main strip of restaurants in Rodney Bay.
We found the kitchen well stocked (better than most rental places) with a very handy utility room. The back patio was a great space, particularly useful with children as the owners have sectioned off the space with potted plants and a gate compared to most other properties who have open access to the pool which would have been a headache - we were able to let them play out the back without concerns. It was also a nice space for al fresco evening meals and BBQs (weber provided) with visiting birds/geckos and minimal mosquito issues.
The pool itself was well maintained with rounded steps which made access easy for the toddlers, the pool was in the sun for most of the day but in the shade late afternoon which was also useful for a late afternoon dip with the kids without the sun cream hassle.
The downstairs area was nice and bright with useful WiFi and inside dining table.
All in all it was perfect for our stay, and would definitely revisit. The only comment would be the lack of a bathtub for bathing the kids but that was a minimal issue and they were happy enough in the showers.
Due to the jet lag we were often up and at the beach early in the morning. The beach was all but deserted at that time and was great in the early morning sun. We took a water taxi (30US + tip for the 4 of us) to pigeon island which gave amazing views across the sea and had a great lunch at the restaurant Jambe De Bois there (don't skip the desserts).
Other places we ate were Spinnakers on the beach which is an amazing setting, we had a good lunch there, good kids menu. Also Wingz-N-Tingz which was excellent and very reasonable, and Tapas on the Bay which had a lovely decked area overlooking the quay. Few of the meals out we had were cheap, but then very little food in St Lucia is as most is imported, even the supermarket prices were roughly London equivalent.
Great place to visit
Arrived Saturday 12/27 and were met at the airport by Jefferson. Victoria, the local property manager (who was great to deal with) made the arrangements. $90 US and 90 minutes after pick up we arrived at the condo in the heart of Rodney Bay. The location is unbeatable. You are in a gated community with a shared pool and this unit is not more than 25 feet from the back patio gate to the pool. Very, very tropical setting and very, very private on your back patio. We spent every morning back there reading and drinking coffee. The unit itself is clean and adequate. Two air conditioned bedrooms upstairs each with its own bath (1 is en suite). The ceilings in the bedrooms are vaulted and very nice. ACs worked well. There is a powder room on the main floor as well but NO AC on the main floor. Not a huge deal. As long as you have front and back doors open there is a nice breeze. Kitchen is fine too although a Teflon/nonstick pan would be great for eggs. No complaints, more an observation. Washer and dryer are in a small room off the kitchen. Really nice to have. The condo is about a 5 minute walk (max) to Reduit beach and Spinnakers beach bar/restaurant. Several restaurants within that same 5-6 minute walk and less than 10 to "downtown" Rodney Bay where you can stock up on groceries. BTW, Victoria was kind enough to stock us some staples for when we arrived for a very nominal fee.
Our favorite restaurant was probably La Terrasse followed very closely by Blue Olive. Don't be turned off by the fact that its in "the mall". Spinnakers was ok for a first night meal but not outstanding and not inexpensive. Better place for drinks on the beach during the day! We had a disastrous meal at FireGrill--uncooked, forever to be served (90 minutes) over priced. They did take money off which is all you can ask. Do not miss the jump up party at Gros Islet. It's a big multi block party with grilled fresh fish, outdoor bar set ups, and some jewelry vendors. About 5+ minutes from the condo. We ate at a place called Dukes and my family of 4 ate for $30 US!
We also took two tours. One was a land tour down to Anse Chastanet beach with Island Man Taxi. Kurt is/was awesome. The other was a Piton Sunset Catamaran Cruise with Carnival Sailing from 2-7 with 45 minutes of snorkeling at Sugar Beach BETWEEN the Pitons. It's like swimming in an aquarium. Not cheap, $85 pp US for adults, but they do include transfers.
All in all, a great trip.
