Over the past 13+ years, many guests have cultivated beautiful Hawaiian tans on the patio of the Tidepools suite. Situated only steps from Poipu Beach, the sunniest place on Kauai, it isn’t hard. This spacious 2br/2ba suite is at the garden level of Hale Koali Villa at Beachside Poipu. Bright and cheerful, this suite is tastefully decorated Hawaiian style and has garden views from all rooms. Poipu Beach is seen from the front patio and is a minutes walk to the water. The master bedroom has a king size bed w/air-conditioning and private bath with private access to an outdoor garden patio surrounded by lush hibiscus and areca palms. The second bedroom has a queen bed. Beautiful handmade Hawaiian bedspreads adorn the beds. A sleeper sofa in the living area makes into a queen bed for added guests.
Tidepools has a full kitchen FULLY REMODELED in MAY 2009 with granite counters with a breakfast bar and new appliances, a refrigerator with icemaker, stove, microwave, coffee maker, blender, china and cookware. A TV, DVD/VCR, and stereo are located in the living area. The back deck opens onto the garden patio that has gas BBQ, tables, chairs, and lounges where you can enjoy dining or sunbathing in privacy among the tropical flowers and plants. Our guest comment says it all!
We stayed at Beachside Poipu for two of the best weeks of my life. It's the personal touches that make this place so special. Walk to the beach - no busy roads - and Kathy checking on how we are doing. Lunch at Brennecke's and Thai shrimp at the Shrimp Station; FABULOUS! Cheryl and Mike - Yukon, Canada
This is exactly what we were looking for; close to the beach, private, quiet and relaxing... absolutely wonderful! Thanks for thinking of everything... beach chairs, mats cooler, laundry soap and most of all... the stars at night. Really Great! Karen and Chris - Amhurst, NY
My husband & I (Ed Sindt & Kathy Bates), bought this wonderful beach property in 1978 with thoughts of retirement close to one of the best beaches in the world!
A minute walk to Poipu Beach Park & Brennecke's Boogey Boarding Beach!
We built a home in 1988 and moved to Kauai, heaven on earth. Built a second home on property and rented it out! Alas Hurricane Iniki destroyed both houses. We relocated to California to work. Rebuilt one home and made it a vacation rental.
At last in 2002, we returned to Kauai and decided to start managing the vacation rental home ourselves. We built the second home in Poipu Hale Pua and found we longed to live upcountry and have pets again! We have a beautiful female border collie from the Kauai Humane Society, name Mele. Our neighbors in Kalaheo had a litter of Austrailan Shepard puppies where we found our dog Joe. Both give us the most joy and unconditional love!
We are very happy living on Kauai in the south shore and managing our rentals. We love meeting our guests and hearing of their adventures on island and elsewhere!
Kathleen Bates purchased this house in 1978
To us this is the most perfect location in Poipu as it is only a minutes walk to Brennecke's Boogey Boarding Beach and Poipu Beach Park. We are one of the 3 vacation rentals this close to the beach in Poipu. We have really tried with our personal touches to make this a very special island holiday get-away without the expense of staying in a hotel. Located in this charming neighborhood creates special memories for all that have stayed with us.
Listening to the sound of the ocean is the Best! Calm & Restful! Whether reading a book or napping or sitting in the sun on the lanais! We are walking distance to 3 good restaurants, Brennecke's Restaurant & Deli (best shaved ice), Casa Di Amici, and Poipu Grill located in Poipu Kai and only a minute walk to the beach!
We don't charge extra for Rooster Wakeup Call!
NOR for unlimited sunshine in the gorgeous south shore of Kauai!
So glad I found this place. A great home in a great location, lovely & lovingly maintained, complete kitchen conveniences, comfy quiet bedrooms, clean modern bathrooms, TV & wifi, lanai & BBQ, books & info guides, plus lots of beach toys & gear. Poipu Beach park & a safe swim/snorkel beach is right around the corner & across the street. We all felt safe staying & walking in the neighborhood> Kathy & Ed were welcoming & helpful. I highly recommend it; I only hope it's available for us next time.
We have previously stayed in one of Ed and Kathy's other units and were just as pleased with our stay in their Tidepools suite. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.
The apartment is clean, well maintained, a nice size, comfortably furnished and had everything we needed without being cluttered.
The kitchen is fully equipped and well organized. In addition to Costco in Lihue and supermarkets like Safeway in Kapaa there is a smaller Big Save grocery nearby in Koloa and Living Foods Market and Cafe in the shops at Kukuiula. Cooking for ourselves was a breeze. We regularly dined at the outdoor table which is in a little garden just out the front door that has a thoughtfully built screen to provide privacy from passers by. The fact that the lot across the street is undeveloped provides additional privacy and a lush garden feel.
If you are vacationing primarily to relax at the beach, all you need to bring to enjoy a day at the beach is your bathing suit. Towels, bamboos mats, boogie boards, chairs, beach umbrella, sand toys for the kids were all freely available for our use.
We particularly enjoyed being less than a block from Poipu Beach Park. It is a wonderful park for children, with playground equipment and a protected swimming area perfect for our youngster. The sunset views from the park are incredible.Hawaiian monk seals and sea turtles both regularly haul out at the beach to sun during the day. We saw a turtle sunning again this trip and a monk seal was hauled out at the beach three different days during the week we were there. The tidepooling on the islet at low tide is also good.
Other sites in the area include Moir Gardens, hiking on the bluffs from Shipwreck beach, Spouting Horn and the wonderful tours from the National Botanical Garden.
luaus, helicopter tours, sunset cruising, ATVing, and just basking in, the sunshine!
