Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Quechee
House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 1.25 Baths (Sleeps 5)

The moment you pull into the driveway and open your car door, the scent of the pine and the fresh mountain air begins to relax you. Nestled in a fragrant pine and hardwood forest, this house sits at the edge of the village of Quechee. With its large windows and open floor plan, the house is cozy yet bright and cheerful. Nearby, you'll enjoy all Vermont has to offer including winter and summer sports, the restaurants of ''gourmet alley'', antiquing, the Vermont raptor center, Long Trail Brewery, Simon Pierce glassworks, Quechee gorge, and much more. At the end of the day, curl up in front of a roaring fire with a good book and let your cares melt away. If you're a skier, you are 35 minutes to Killington, 15 to Suicide Six, and 25 to Ascutney Mountain ski areas.

Though it seems you are miles away from it all, there are several restaurant and antiquing options within a 10-15 minute walk from the house.

In the morning, you may want to stroll down to the village, across the covered bridge, to the village coffee shop where you can pick up a morning paper and a homemade muffin.

I am currently out of the country on a work assignment, so please call the number on the right and ask for Mike Paino, my property manager.

totally charming

Had a great week here in July. The place is adorable, tucked in the woods and very peaceful. The place feels bigger than it is with the double height ceiling, large windows and sliders in the living room which take in the trees and sky. The decor is very cozy and comfortable, not fussy but with plenty of personal touches to make it feel like you are staying in a well-cared for home. The beds are comfortable and the place is very clean. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning/beers in the evening on the deck, as well as a fire in the fireplace when it got a bit cool. I highly recommend checking out the Simon Pearce Gallery just down the road-- great glassware and pottery (although a bit pricey!) and excellent food (try the Vermont cheese soup). Nearby Woodstock is like a picture postcard of Vermont, and you also need to check out the White Cottage for ice cream, as well as the Long Trail Brewery. Lots to do and see in the area, really beautiful nature. I can only imagine how stunning it must be here in the fall!

holiday weekend

2 out of 5
Review Submitted: 06 June 2012 Date of Stay: May 2012
My husband and I were considering renting this house for 2 months in the fall. We rented this house for 4 days over memorial weekend to check it out prior to the fall rental and were not pleased with the overall upkeep of the yard. It was completely over-grown with weeds and could not use the front walkway but only the lower level to get into the house. In addition, I would suggest this owner provide instructions on how to operate his television/cable as we did not have TV for 3 of our 4 days stay until the manager came over and showed us how to operate the television. Also the lighting in the living area needs to have some instructions as well since we sat in the dark for 3 days because we could not figure out how to operate the lights. There was also allot of road noise as well which is not how the owner described the house. We decided not to rent in the fall after this trip.
Owner's Response: I am very sorry to hear that these guests did not enjoy their stay. As the house is truly "in" the woods and I have not had a chance to do the spring yard clean up yet, their comments about things being a bit overgrown are fair. As for the problem with the cable - also fair - the cable company moved to a new digital box system so suddenly, on this weekend, the existing box did not work any longer. All I can say is that people visiting Vermont should leave the tv off - there is so much else to do. The lights for the main living and dining room are controlled by a panel. I honestly dont understand how someone would sit in the dark for 3 days and not figure out how to push the button that says "on", but granted it is not a traditional light switch, so I will take their advice and write some instructions for the lights. As for Road Noise, it is usually pretty quiet at the house. Memorial Day weekend does bring out the Harley's though. Anyway, this is the first truly negative feedback/review that Ive received on the house, so I am sorry it was not a good fit for these people and it is probably good that they "test drove it" before renting for a longer period in the Autumn.

A well appointed change of pace.

This cabin is a compete depaerture from the jammed streets of the city. Romantic and secluded (but not too much), this cabin is engulfed by clean fresh air and the smell of a well seasoned fireplace. I highly recommed this gem for a perfect New England get-a-way.

Dartmouth parents should consider this home-base for visits to campus. It is only 20 minutes away.

The Perfect Spot for a Vacation in Vermont

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 11 January 2011 Date of Stay: October 2010
This cabin is great for your Vermont vacation. Surrounded by woods, this spot is quiet and relaxing. Each evening we enjoyed looking up at the stars from the spacious deck and then warmed ourselves in front of the fire. When you're ready to see the sights or grab some food it's all right around the corner. The local restaurants are amazing, Simon Pierce, the Farmers Diner, the Firestone Inn are all just a few minutes away. Hike the Quechee Gorge or check out the Raptor Center at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. Woodstock, Vt is a few minutes up the road. It's filled with shops and great restaurants. The scenery is breathtaking, the mountains and trees take you back to a time before cell phones and deadlines. Staying at this cabin and enjoying the area around it was the most relaxing vacation my wife and I have ever taken. I came back refreshed, but I didn't want to leave. You'll give serious thoughts to staying for good.
