Perfect as a cozy nest where travelers love 'laze', read a book, relax in the heart of the Medina, Maa Zhar rises over 3 floors to lead to the terraces from where one discovers the Bay of Tangier and Strait of Gibraltar.
Rooms Lilas Ali (bed 140 X 190), Blue Note (4 beds 90 X 190) and Astarte (1 bed 140 x 190) will welcome each in a warm atmosphere. At your disposal two bathrooms, a nod to the Moroccan hammam.
Various lounges allow you to relax and share with friends.
The kitchen and dining room will bring you all the modern comforts (oven, dishwasher, espresso coffee maker, toaster, washing machine) and will give you direct access to the terraces.
Leaving the house, you are in the heart of the medina: let you guide by the laughter of children, many of whom play in the neighborhood streets,
Back in a few minutes walk in the neighborhood of the Kasbah, where you can explore the museum, galleries, white, flowery streets, various intimate places to have tea and eat;
Descender or rather in the medina to happen very quickly in the souks where you can discover all kinds of Moroccan craftsmanship, reach the fish market where we find both Mediterranean species of the Atlantic: a choice extraordinary, take tea at the small Socco and end up at the Cinematheque Grand Socco, mythical place of Tangier. Many day trips are possible to the beaches in Assilah, Tetouan, etc ....
Eric and Aline love to discover new cultures, to share warm moments with family and friends.
Aline et Eric Kreins purchased this house in 2005
My husband and I shared this house with another couple for two nights in April. Aline and Eric were responsive and easy to work with, and Mohammed, the on-site manager, was lovely and helpful.
The house is really interesting. For we Americans, the layout, furnishings, decor, and setting enhanced our feeling of being in a truly foreign place, which we appreciated. The house is actually four stories high, as the entrance level only has a laundry room and the living areas are over three floors above that. The sitting area on the top floor is comfortable, and the bedrooms over the middle two floors gave each couple a good amount of privacy and space. The view from the terraces are wonderful, with other roofs and terraces rising above and falling below, and the water and new part of the city in the distance. Water pressure and temperature is good. The house was clean, but the entire city is dusty and that's just how it is.
The house is situated at the convergence of several streets, creating a small open space which is the neighborhood playground. While we enjoyed watching the kids playing, it's worth noting that they were out from 3 pm until midnight each day and the noise (among others) really carried into the house. This is not a quiet corner of the medina!
The terrace had no chairs or anything to sit on. The house has a wireless router, but the hotspot USB had run out of money; Mohammed tried to get it recharged, but was unable to do so. A drying rack full of sheets and towels was sitting in the dining room for our entire stay, making use of that space rather awkward. Be sure to bring toilet paper and soap for the bathrooms, and keep in mind that only one bathroom has a toilet. The stairs require a good deal of care, as they are quite steep and can be slippery.
This house was clean, tastefully decorated, and a comfortable place to come home to. It was very large compared to most houses in that location and had great amenities. They were very helpful if we needed anything and quick to respond. There are many stairs in the house and the roof is a spectacular view of the Ocean and Mediterranean. We also had fun playing with the children outside and there is a hanut, or small corner store, conveniently located right outside the door.
The owner was friendly and easy to work with. Great experience!! I would highly recommend this location.
the house was even better than the pictures suggested.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The situation was perfect, close to the medina, a quiet place above the lively scenes of the streets below, to take a rest.
A rest in a place were the owners payed close attention to every tiny detail in the house, the furniture, the lamps, linen, kitchenwear. Everything makes a stay in that place absolutely wunderfull.
