Bike:After the Second World War champions like Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi, Vittorio Adorni and many others decided to take advantage of the mild climate, beautiful scenery and wonderful hospitality of the Riviera Ligure delle Palme and do their training here before the start of the racing season.
Following in the tracks of the professional cyclists, amateurs can also find an ideal setting for long rides on our roads, surrounded by the colors of the sea and the scents of the lush vegetation of the interior.
One annual event that definitely should not be missed is the Trofeo Laigueglia, which opens the international professional racing season.
Free Climbing:And it is no accident that the Riviera Ligure delle Palme, with its splendid scenery, should have become a major center for this emerging sport. The walls of white and porous limestone rising sheer above the sea, testifying to millions of years of geological history, draw climbers of international standing as well as complete neophytes: an influx of between a hundred and two hundred thousand people a year, distributed right along the coast and at all times of year, thanks to the numerous routes (around 2000) at different levels of difficulty.
All that it takes is a minimum of equipment – light shoes and short pants – along with a bit of experience gained on the simplest climbs and a taste for adventure in order to be able to enjoy fabulous views over a multicolored sea.
Riding:The hinterland of the Riviera Ligure delle Palme seems almost to have been made for those who love to go on excursions by horse, with its well-equipped trails covering the whole province.
The many riding centers dotted around the territory permit anyone to spend a pleasant day riding up from the coastal plains to the shady beech forests of the interior. Garlenda also offers the chance to attend genuine horse races at the racecourse in Villanova d’Albenga and to try your hand at show jumping at one of several centers of equitation.
