AEOLUS AND STAVLO - A LUXURY GREEK VILLA WITH PRIVATE POOL

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday villa in Volimes - AEOLUS and STAVLO

PRICES REDUCED 2014 A beautiful traditionally built stone house

Aeolus and Stavlo comprise one property nestled on the hillside in the beautiful village of Korythi overlooking the Ionian Sea. The property comprises of the main house with a spacious double bedroom and a mezzanine with a single bed. Stavlo, the adjacent family room/studio to Aeolus has a double and two single beds. The property is set amongst olive and cypress trees with impressive views across the sea and mountains. If you are looking for privacy and tranquility then this is the villa for you. The main bedroom, perfect for the honey mooning couple has french windows onto the verandah overlooking the sea. The pool is set in established gardens with palm trees, the fragrance of jasmine and oleander fill the air. Just simply the most beautiful place to be....

Stavlo is a self contained studio with it's own kitchen and wet room. This is very popular with teenagers.

A feature of this property is it's extensive terraces with a wide range of seating areas to accomodate extensive outside al freso dining. There is also an outside kitchen /eating room, boasting a BBQ, rotisserie and outside oven. Perfect for shade in the heat of the day and romantic candle lit dinners under the stars. All meals are normally taken outside during the summer months either by the barbecue area or on the terrace tables.

The villa posses a charm all of it's own, has all mod cons but keeps it's great greek feel!

St Nikolas Port is approximately 4 min away by car and offers a lovely beach with free sunbeds and excellent tavernas. Long Beach is a large beach approximately 15 min away again with good tavernas. And on the coast road (the road you will journey on from the airport to the Villa) there are a number of other accessible beaches. There are also many isolated coves which can be accessed by boat, boat hire also being available locally. The sea is perfectly clean and most of the beaches are stony rather than sandy in the north of the island (covered with a light shale). There are a large number of tavernas available within 10 to 20 min of the Villa, and especially across the mountain range to Volimes and Anovolimes.

PELIGONI, is an exclusive sailing club located approximately 5 min away from the villa. The club offers a wide range of sailing activities, waterskiing, tennis, table tennis and superb dining. Check out party night on Wednesdays and Saturdays for fun and frolics!

For those searching for a lively night life on the island this can be found at Alikes, Alkanas and further away down south at Lagana (famous for the Loggerhead Turtles). There is something for everyone.

Boats can be hired locally to visit the remote beaches, caves and beachside tavernas, you can also take escorted trips to the Blue Caves, famous Shipwreck Cove and ancient monasteries. There are daily ferries from the nearby port that go to Kefalonia (Captain Correlli's Island) and ferries to the Pelaponese on the mainland and other islands that go from the main Zakynthos town port.

Zakynthos town is approximately 30 minutes by car and is a thriving cosmopolitan town, rich with history and beautiful architecture. It has a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants and is well worth a visit. The port for mainland Greece (about 1 hour away by ferry) is situated adjacent to the town. The town has an outside theatre and busy nightlife.

The villa is set on a hillside in the beautiful village of Korithi. St Nikolas port, which has 2 medium-sized supermarkets is only 4 min away by car. If it is each Friday night in the port there is a great Greek evening at the L'Astoria Taverna on the beach with live music and dancing. On Tuesday evening's Nobelos a lovely Taverna by the sea holds a fine dining and live music evening under the pine trees.

The village of Volimes, is well worth a visit and attracts tourists visiting the locally made beautiful crafts. the village of Katastari is some 30 min from the Villa where there are a number of larger supermarkets selling a larger range of products. The island itself is approximately 25 miles long by 3 miles wide and is covered with a central mountainous spine, olive groves, cypress trees and orange and lemon orchards. The views and around the island and in particular the north of stunning and well worth exploring.

Aeolus is our much loved summer home. We have had the villa for approximately 12 years and spend a lot of our time out there in the summer, letting it out only when we come back to the UK. This means that it is more homely and comfortable than properties that are purely furnished for the letting market and an additional income.

About SHARON WEBSTER

We bought the land with the view to having a small quiet village location for our second (holiday) home. The original house was taken down and many of the original materials were used to build the new house, Aeolus. Stavlo is a renovated stable and has all it's original charm. We did not want to let such a beautiful place stay empty when we could not be there, so sharing it with like minded people led us to the holiday rental of the villa.

SHARON WEBSTER purchased this villa in 2001

Why SHARON WEBSTER chose Volimes

The northern part of the Island is so special. The sea, mountains and the pretty little port of Aghious Nikolas, as well as the Peligoni Sailing Club so close were key reasons for this location. The local greek people are so friendly and helpful and there is always the feeling of being safe.

What makes this villa unique

The unique features of the Villa are the stunning views of both the sea and the mountains, the privacy and the amazing gardens and pool. There are many terraces on different levels and each one so different you couldn't possibly get bored! There is aways somewhere to sit in the sun and shade. Another unique feature is the family room, Stavlo, which can comfortably sleep 4, but is great for adults with small children or for teenagers wanting their own pad, but still easily supervised by adults.

Perfect Villa - Breathtaking Views

  • 5 out of 5
The photos are amazing but don't do Aeolus justice. When you arrive and see the setting, the space, the immaculate gardens and pool it takes your breath away. Open the door to find a lovely, cared-for home with everything you need for a relaxing break in a beautiful area and then relax...

Oh, did I mention the balcony? Wow, what a view! Perfect for breakfast, but wait until evening and retire up here to watch the sun go down and the lights come out in the dozens of towns and villages visible down the coast. You can see as far as Zakynthos town but the closer towns of Alykes and Alykanas provide the most twinkling lights in the near distance. We just sat in awe for a couple of evenings enjoying the warmth, the views and the atmosphere up there.

The little port of Agios Nikolaos is 3 minutes away and you can hire boats, go on organised trips, shop, eat, drink, party if you want to...

Sharon was ever so helpful, answering plenty of questions before we even went. We took kids so wanted to know a few details to help us plan our visit, it turned out perfect and they had a wonderful time.

We plan to return with other friends to enjoy this beautiful place as it's not fair to keep it a secret!

Immaculate

  • 5 out of 5
The villa itself gives an immediate impression of space even although there is only one double bedroom on the upper floor (plus a single bed on the landing/mezzanine) and a very large kitchen/dining/sitting room at ground level.
The lowermost level is a utility room.

Another immediate sense is of quality. This is someone's second home, and this shows in furnishings which are high end compared to any holiday property I have rented before.

Through the side gate to the garden and across a narrow lane is 'Stavlo', a completely rebuilt stable which has the high wooden ceilings typical of the local houses, a double and 2 single beds in one open plan room. In addition to its own wet room, there is a small kitchen area so that sleeping here don't need to disturb guests in the main villa. In April, there was no opportunity to test the effectiveness of the air conditioning.

The pool and grounds are spacious and well-kept and there is a covered outdoor kitchen - useful for those who like to avoid too much sun or for keeping the poolside drinks cool and at hand.

The villa is in a tiny hamlet (Korithi) surrounded by olive groves. The roads in April were quiet. Some are narrow, but if you are comfortable with Scottish single track roads you shouldn't have any problem. A hire car is a necessity for getting around here. Many restaurants were not yet open for the season when I stayed here, but those in the local port 2km down the road that were open served the best moussaka and seafood I have ever enjoyed.

Conclusion?
Excellent for exploring Zante from a high quality, spectacular, quiet, and comfortable base.

Lovely villa for a celebration

  • 5 out of 5
We rented the villas as a surprise for my parent's anniversary and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! In brief, the villas are more spacious and beautifully maintained than the pictures can do justice and the communication with the owner made the whole experience very easy and relaxing.
There are countless outdoor areas to enjoy and we quickly settled into a routine: breakfast on the lounge terrace, mornings by the pool, eating lunch out during our adventures and then returning to the pool for the afternoons. Pre-dinner drinks were on the roof terrace and we all loved cooking together in the outdoor kitchen. After dinner we sat on the roof terrace and watched the lights twinkle and most nights my husband and I would stop for some stargazing by the pool before we returned to the little villa, Stalvo.
The local port was very friendly. Most days the supermarket girls gave us gifts with our shopping and we had several perfect lunches and dinners on the sea front at their families fish taverna – we would return there in a flash. we also enjoyed the boat trip at the end of the road to the blue caves
My parents stayed in Aeolus and they said they felt very spoiled as it is large and luxurious. we stayed in Stavlo and it was nice to have our own space (it would be nice to have a curtain on the door to aid us lazy people having lie ins!).
We all hope to return - thank you for letting us stay in your amazing home

Fantastic Villa and location

  • 5 out of 5
We and another family stayed here for two weeks and really enjoyed it. The pool and gardens are beautiful. We used the BBQ and outdoor cooking facilities. Sharron's friend Barbara was very helpful in recommending places to visit and eat. Our children had a really good time together staying here. I think it will be difficult to find another Villa as nice as this one.

Wonderful, peaceful two weeks in july.

  • 5 out of 5
We had a fantastic stay at Aeolus in July. The house was lovely, secluded and very peaceful. With plenty of terraces, balconies and the wonderful garden with a hammock and quiet seating areas, there was ample opportunity to hide from the kids. The pool was amazing, clean and very popular with everyone as the days were extremely hot, as you might expect for July. The kitchen was very well equipped and the outdoor barbecue area with extra refrigerators was brilliant. Really lovely to eat outside, but be sheltered from the midday sun. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful, although be prepared for the involuntary screaming on the hairpin bends with sheer drops on the road to Volimes. We really enjoyed the Stone Park, which is a small nature reserve and very hands on. The kids loved feeding the raccoons, deer and picking up tortoises and kittens. The restaurant next door is fantastic (The Windmill), very friendly, family run and the tempura style aubergine and courgette was a big favourite with us. Hiring a motorboat was easy enough from the small port (St Nicolas), which we used to take a trip to the shipwreck. There are plenty of nice beaches in the area, but most of the time we spent at the house and that suited us fine. Barbara pops round to check on the pool every couple of days and was very informative on the local area and supermarkets. All in all, we had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Mosquitoes were a problem for us, but apparently it was a particularly bad year. If you tend to get bitten, definitely pack some repellant etc and also bring some dvds if you have younger children who like to watch a film after a hard day in the pool. There wasn't a huge choice. You know you've found a real gem when all you can complain about is the kid's dvd selection and a few gnats.

Kind regards Sharon. W.

Totally Amazing!

  • 5 out of 5
We had not rented a private villa before and was a little unsure about all the procedures. However, after our phone conversation with Sharon, we were totally relaxed and reassured about how to go about it confidently. The villa is amazing and the gardens and pool were just out of this world and all really well cared for, newly painted and appointed, not tired in any way. We invited friends over to stay and that is really when Stavlo comes into its own! A private self-catered studio, very close to the main house. We just loved being 'at home'! The weather was reliable and pretty hot, we dined out a lot but the outside kitchen/dining /BBQ area is a major plus! Never seen anything like it! We loved all of the tavernas in the local area and especially in the pretty little port of Ag Niki. All in all, a piece of paradise we especially we especially want to keep all to ourselves, alas Sharon won't let us! Aeolus and Stavlo come highly recommended!!
