The yurts were everything the description said and more. The owners were awesome and very helpful. If you want to stay somewhere unique with all amenities of home this is the place.
We bought this property in 1997 as a family retreat. It is now our retirement home for a portion of the year. We also live in Arizona. I was born and raised in Montana and my husband is a transplant from North Dakota. We raised our family in Missoula and were there for 29 years before deciding to live in a yurt on our lake property.
Why they chose this property
We found this property while boating around Flathead Lake just checking out the various bays. I remember crawling all over this property when it was for sale. It was completely undeveloped and we fell in love with the rustic feel of it. After we bought it our first project was to thin the trees. We had an old pick-up topper on the ground where we kept our tools to keep them dry. I remember having our radio on in the truck listening to music when it was interrupted by the announcement of Princess Diana's accident. Our first building was an out house that is still on the property. It has stenciling on the walls and a padded seat. Our neighbor had a yurt and thought we should buy one, so we decided to take the plunge. He has since added a log home. We added a bigger yurt.
What makes this property unique
We love being on Flathead Lake- the largest and cleanest lake west of the Mississippi. A good portion of the property is mountainous so there is plenty of room to roam- hike. We have an abundance of wildlife- deer, ducks, squirrels, wood peckers, swallows, and even the occasional bear.
