BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE HOUSE, LOVELY VIEWS, LIGHT AND AIRY ROOMS, PRIVATE POOL. VILLA

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Gaucin

3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, sleeps 2 to 6

Our house is situated in the heart of the lovely village of Gaucin - one of the most attractive of the pueblos blancos - near its beautiful church and Moorish castle. The villa is in easy walking distance of a number of excellent tapas bars and restaurants. It comprises a main house, private pool and casita. The main house has a superb kitchen/dining room, very spacious living area with a cozy log burner for those coooler nights and lots of rustic charm. An open staircase leads to a huge romantic master bedroom, a lovely terrace with views of the floodlit castle, an elegant sitting/dressing room with balcony and a spectacular bathroom. Up another level there is a large shaded roof terrace with fantastic views. The pool separates the two parts of the house with stepping stones across from main house to casita. It is truly stunning and totally private with a cascade waterfall feature flowing out of a mosaic tiled arch. There is seating in the pool for keeping cool while sipping your drinks in the heat of summer. The 'casita' comprises an alfresco dining room with bbq area and open fireplace and overlooks the private pool. Inside the casita there is a bathroom and 2 additional bedrooms with a sunny terrace.

The main house can provide a spacious romantic getaway whilst with the casita it provides excellent accommodation for up to two families. The casita is never let separately.

Cautions: The access between the two houses is on large stepping stones through the pool. Obviously care must be taken at all times. It is the renters responsibility to supervise children at all times. The pool is over a metre deep and so children must be able to swim or wear flotation aids whenever you have the doors to the pool area open.

Parking: The street that the house is on has parking on both sides of the street within 25 metres of the door. If this is ever full there are other places nearby.

Fabulous holiday in Gaucin

  • 5 out of 5
My family and I had a fabulous holiday in this villa June 08. The villa had a massive kitchen with all mod cons, lovely cosy living room, nice little pool, good patio areas and it was well located within the pretty village of Gaucin. The village had loads of good places to eat and drink.

I'd highly recommend this villa.

Fantastic stay in Andalusia!

  • 5 out of 5
We have just returned from a week in Gaucin and had a wonderful time. The house is exactly as described and has everything that you might need and is perfectly situated in the village. We found it clean and comfortable and quiet. The owner was very, very helpful before our trip and answered my questions and gave really good advice - thank you Ian :-).

Gaucin is a lovely village with a number of super authentic tapas bars to eat & drink in. It is also really well located to visit the whole area of pueblos blancos and the national parks for walks etc. The views all around are STUNNING!
Tip: You need a car and a small one!

Perfect Mountain Village Retreat

  • 5 out of 5
My husband and I had a fabulous fortnight in Gaucin. The house is right in the heart of this very welcoming village. It is a wonderfully appointed property and deceptively spacious accomodations . We only occupied the main house but the facillities of the casita were available to us including a lovely open dining terrace. The Kitchen is one of the best equipped we have encountered . The Bathroom in the main house would not look out of place in a 5 star resort. We swam every day in the wonderful pool that divdes the two parts of the property. It is much larger than it appears and is a wonderful place to cool off.
We loved the large roof terrace which has great seating and lounging furniture and offers shade at one end. It Offers veiws over the village to the hills beyond and also the castle, over which eagles cans be seen soaring.
The village is so friendly and so well served with restaurants and bars you are spoilt for choice .There are several supermarkets and other shops you really have no need to leave the village.
We do however recommend the wonderful drive through the mountains to spectacular Ronda aproximately 40 mins . We visited the beaches at the bottom of the main road to the village 25 mins away which have great facillities.
We also drove to Seville and stayed overnight which was fabulous and a great chance to see the changing landscapes.
The local manager takes very good care of you and greets you like an old friend when you come across her in the village.
Our visit coincided with one of the village fiestas, those folk know how to party !! It was a great expirence.
Two weeks was not long enough!!

A beautiful villa in a tranquil setting

  • 5 out of 5
We had a lovely week in this beautiful house. It was spotlessly clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated. It was spacious, well equipped and had everything we needed. In fact we hardly cooked because it was so pleasant wandering into the village every night to eat where there's a good range of eating places.

The pool was fantastic for cooling off & floating on the provided lilos. It was sparklingly clear and totally private. It was very hot when we were there (forest fires near Marbella) so we spent a lot of time relaxing and not so much walking or sightseeing. The terraces always gave a choice of shade or sun and it always felt cool indoors.

The whole area is beautiful and we enjoyed our trips to Genalgaucil and Ronda and also swimming in local rivers. A five minute stroll in the evening takes you to a mirador with panoramic views towards the Mediterranean and Gibraltar. Ten minutes more and you're at the top of the hill in the grounds of the fascinating Moorish castle.

The owner's directions were good and as the other reviewers have commented the streets are very narrow.

A lot of care has clearly gone into making this a wonderful holiday let. Thank you.

peace and relaxation

What a lovely house away from all the hustle and bustle of work amd life in general. Lovely walks and stunning scenery ! The people of gaucin are friendly and the prices to eat and drink are amazing!
I would highly recomend this property , all you need in the one spoy, the terrace areas are a little sun trap, and the owner provided excellent directions, but watch the narrow streets, get a small car !

A lovely villa in a beautiful location

  • 5 out of 5
We had a fantastic week in Gaucin. The villa was lovely and a really comfortable place to stay-one of the nicest we've stayed in anywhere. We particularly enjoyed making use of the spacious roof terrace and even had a few dips in the pool. We loved Genalgaucil (a village about 12 miles away with an outdoor sculpture trail) and enjoyed trips to Ronda and the Cueva de la Pileta (caves with prehistoric paintings) amongst other places.

The barbeque area made for relaxing evenings in and the villa was very well equipped.

The villa is very well located in the old part of Gaucin near the church. It was very quiet but close to plenty of good restaurants and bars. We would recommend hiring a small car due to the narrow streets in Gaucin.

Thanks for a great week.

Gaucin is situated in the unspoilt Serrania de Ronda. It is an enchanting 'pueblo blanco' where the traditional Spanish way of life is still very strong. Narrow pretty streets to explore, spectacular views, good restaurants and bars. The village has its own pool and tennis court. Walk in the countryside, where mules are the preferred transport, see a profusion of wild flowers in Spring and the unforgettable sight of eagles soaring over the castle. Close to huge spectacular cork forest with picnic areas, swim in rock pools, dine beside tumbling streams in renowned restaurants. Try the tapas at Paco Pepe's bar only a couple of streets away. Climb up to the castle and pick figs in the ruins. Visit Ronda and see the spectacular architecture and gorge. Discover art on every corner in the nearby village of GenalGuacil. Local street markets to explore, take a boat trip to Ceuta or Tangiers in north Africa, or just to see the dolphins. Take a scenic drive to visit Sevilla, Jerez or Cadiz.

Other Activities: water sports on the coast (25mins), windsurfing at Tarifa(90mins), beautiful towns and villages to explore like Ronda & GenalGuacil(40mins)
