Danny grew up in Oahu and had a family cabin right on Pipeline, so of course he grew up surfing. As a young adult, his work brought him to the Big Island where he manages a private water system. I moved to the Big Island in 2002 from Olympia, WA. I flew for the airlines for many years and was fortunate enough to discover that Hawaii is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places in the world. My love for flying brought me to work at Mokulele Flight Service, where I originally met Danny. He was taking flying lessons. For two years he thought that I had a partner until he saw me on an online dating site. He contacted me and we’ve been together ever since and are now engaged. We bought a 206 Cessna and have enjoyed flying to the other islands. We enjoy fishing and boating to the other islands when the channel cooperates. We have recently taken up golf and have enjoyed the golf courses on the Big Island and Kauai. Between us we have six children and I have three beautiful grandchildren. We also have a border collie terrier mix and a red healer, both pound puppies.
The Owner purchased this hotel in 2010
This beautiful resort is centrally located on the Northeast side of the island, 10 minutes from the airport in Lihue. Wailua and Kapaa are 10 minutes North of us. Here you can enjoy river paddling tours, snorkel tours, waterfalls, dining, shopping, hiking, golfing and many more activities. On the North side of the island is Hanalei Bay, where they filmed The South Pacific. Here we enjoyed paddling the river, which flows into the ocean, taking in all of the wild life along the way. This is also where we discovered the Kalypso Island Bar & Grill. The lounge at Princeville Hotel is a breathtaking stop to enjoy a beverage overlooking all of Hanalei Bay. Just 10 minutes south of our place is Kalapaki Joe's Sport’s Bar & Grill and Gingbua Tai restaurant at the Harbor Mall. One of our regular stops for lunch is Keoki's Paradise Grill, in the Poipu Shopping Center. It offers a nice open air experience. I also recommend going early in the morning to Waimea Canyon before the clouds roll in and view the island of Ni’ihau. On our last trip we toured the Koloa Rum Store located at the historic Kilohana Plantation, one mile South of Lihue, between 22 North Restaurant and the Kaua’i Plantation Railway. They have samples of their rum made on Kauai. It was a fun experience. If you are a golfer, Wailua Municipal Golf Course is next door (reasonable, but always packed). The Kauai Lagoon Golf Course at the Marriott is 5 minutes away and is one of our favorites. The Puakea Golf Course is 10 minutes away, another favorite. The Kiahuna Golf Course is 20 minutes away in Poipu as well as the Poipu Golf Course (which is very nice, but more expensive). The Princeville Makai and Prince Course at Princeville, are two of the most spectacular golf courses in all of the world and just 40 minutes north and there are more. There are over 40 white sand beaches to explore on this garden isle. We highly recommend the Holo Holo Catamaran trip to Niiha
We were extremely pleased from the moment we saw the view from our room on the top floor. We overlook all of the pools, waterfalls, ocean and mountains. They are great rooms for people watching too. Danny appreciated the fact that our room is just an elevator ride around the corner from the lobby and the icemaker is just down the hall. There is also a lounge, on our floor only, with a microwave. We really enjoy being pampered with the beauty of the resort and the great service. If we just want a retreat, they will pick us up at the airport and even shuttle us to a shopping center and a couple of golf courses. The restaurant is outstanding with great food, large portions and good prices. Danny enjoyed a prime rib cooked just the way he likes it. A couple of days later, he had barbecue beef ribs and there was so much. He said he felt like Fred Flintstone. We took the leftovers back to our room and heated them up the next night in the microwave and had an intimate dinner on our private lanai. I enjoy waking up to see a beautiful sunrise right over the ocean. I enjoy lounging by the pool and enjoying the food and beverage service or watching sports around the tiki bar. Danny said that the surf is great for beginners or those getting back into it. I hope to try soon. We have enjoyed long walks on the beach, which is the longest one on the island. The lounge is a great alternative for lighter fares and live entertainment. I found the business center very handy for taking care of faxing, scanning and copying. The convention centers there are great for seminars or company parties. We enjoy the convenience store in the morning for a specialty coffee and a bagel. We also have another beautiful view room, if this one is booked for the time you want.
This is one of our favorite places to come for relaxation and value. The service and food are excellent
I cannot say enough about our stay in Kauai! It was amazing! When we arrived we were met with smiling faces and helpful hands. Check in was easy and smooth! The room was nice, comfortable and functional. The real treat is the view from the balcony! WOW!!!! It was so great! My sister, two nephews (7 and 6) and I spent a lot of time just sitting out on the balcony enjoying the view. The pictures on here really don't do it justice, it was a beautiful view! The resort was clean, friendly and well maintained. They have a laundry room on site, valet, walking paths, WI FI all around the lounge, entry area, patio, etc. They have a cute lil' coffee shop, coffee was really good!!! The beach at the resort is good, not great but it was nice. Good for walking, watching sunrise and relaxing. Not the best for kiddos to play BUT the pools are AWESOME! We spent a lot of our time hopping from one pool to the next! My nephews LOVED the resort! It was very family friendly. We found the resort to be in a pretty ideal location. It was literally right down the road from the airport (No noise problems at all. Very quiet!) Great location for exploring the island.
We did the Napali sightseeing boat tour thru Holo Holo Charters. It was awesome! Got to see dolphins and sea turtles! Not to mention the Napali coast! AMAZING! Staff is great!
Donna was great! Quick responses, helpful and nice. Everything ran smooth! THANK YOU for sharing your beautiful room with us, we had a great time!!!
Sincerely, The Keith's.
My husband and I stayed at this resort in the past, so we knew we wanted to stay here again for our trip this year. The room was great! We had never used VRBO before, and we were pleasantly surprised to find this room. Donna was great! She helped answer any questions I had prior to booking (quite a few) and kept me updated and informed about the resort throughout the months leading to our stay. She even helped us with a late check out the day we were leaving! It was so nice and easy from booking the room to checking out at the hotel.
The room was amazing. We loved the view of the pool/ocean. The sunrises were spectacular! The room was clean and well-maintained. The hotel staff are great and very helpful as well. The location of the resort is close to everything. You are not more than 90 minutes from any side of the island and close to shops and restaurants. Renting a car is helpful!
We have been to the island twice before and love everything about the island. My husband and I like to hike and snorkel and this island is perfect for that. We spent time snorkeling on the south shore near Poipu and also along the east shore at Kalapaki beach and Lydgate beach. We took a day and hiked the Kalalau trail back to the falls which was an amazing hike! Waimea Canyon is also awesome to see and the hikes around the canyon are breathtaking. We rented bicycles from Hele on Kauai Bike Rentals, 2 bikes for 2 hours for $20! We rode the Ke Ala Hele Makalae trail which is a paved path along the east cost. It's a beautiful path. As you can see, there are so many wonderful things to do on the island! Both my husband and I would recommend doing the helicopter tour of the island if you have the chance. We did the tour on our first trip to the island, so many of the things we have done we have both the land and air perspectives.
We ate at some great places while on Kauai. It is tough for us because I have to eat gluten free, but on the island there are a great variety of restaurants that cater to dietary needs. Duke's Canoe Club, Verde, and Pau Hana Pizza are some of the delicious places we ate. My husband has tried many shaved ice vendors and feels that Hee Fat in Kapaa is the best. The macadamia nut milkshakes from Shave Ice Paradise in Hanalei are to die for! If you are looking for a good breakfast, Kalaheo Cafe is delicious.
I could go on and on about all the things I love about this island. We love staying at this resort and cannot wait to be back (hopefully soon)!
We truly enjoyed the Kuaui Beach resort and the King Sized Room for the first 5 days of our honeymoon. Thank you to Donna for such a wonderful place to stay- Mahalo! The view was perfect in every way- the beach, pool, and mountains were all visible out the window. The room was clean and very comfortable and the resort was in a perfect location to explore the island! We watched the sunrise almost every morning off of our lanai, and the KBR is certainly top notch in every way with delicious food at the restaurants. We loved our helicopter tour with Jack Harter and kayaked the entire Napali Coast (which was not for the faint of heart!) We also enjoyed eating at the Beach House in Poipu and the Dolphin in Hanalei. Hanalei certainly has the best beaches to visit. This Island is truly magical, and we would come back and stay here in a heartbeat!
We are a couple from germany. Everything was perfect.
We can go along with our previous speaker.
If we come back to Kauai - we would like to stay here again
we can really recommend this unit . MAHALO Donna.
The Kauai Beach Resort has become my "home" in Hawaii. The entire experience there was delightful, with all amenities up to date, extremely well maintained, and wonderful hotel staff.
This finely appointed room has the very best ocean and pool views in the entire resort complex, and it is a pleasure to sit on the lanai to take in the wonderful views and to listen to the gentle ocean waves on the beach. This is the second time I've stayed in the unit, and hopefully will do so again.
The room is very nice, clean, and well appointed. The towels and bedding and beds are top quality, as is the cleaning service, although at an additional charge. I do think that the hotel could charge less for parking, however, as at $12.95 per day it adds up a bit, and maybe somehow should be built into the price of the room rate.
I particularly liked the gym facility, as well as the pools, and the casual and informal poolside dining.
A very big bonus of the Kauai Beach Resort, is the close proximity to many of the sights the island has to offer, and is not far from Kapaa, Lihue, or Poipu to the sourth. Be sure to visit nearby Lydgate Park, and walk along the almost deserted beaches there.
You will not be disappointed by this experience, that's for sure. Donna is exceptional to deal with in making your KBR travel booking arrangements.
Please don't hesitate, the KBR and this room will be an outstanding vacation choice.
I've been back to the mainland for a little less than a week and I'm already wishing I was back at this room at the Kauai Beach Resort waking in the morning to that GORGEOUS view from my bed of the Pacific sunrise, pool, trees and ocean waves!
A friend and I were in Kauai for a mutual friend's wedding so there were many many wedding adventures already planned for us as part of the wedding party. We were the only ones in the wedding party who stayed at this resort but I was SOOOO happy with our location. It was close to the airport and centrally located for just about everything we did. Nothing is within walking distance but that was fine. We covered the entire island during this trip and everything was easily accessible.
The room is definitely like a typical hotel room. Comfortable for 2 adults but I wouldn't have wanted to share that bathroom with 4 people in the room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the A/C worked great! We were awakened pretty much every morning by loud slamming of doors by the other people on the floor. It was annoying but certainly not a deal breaker. The view from the room was breathtaking and I think I took a pic of it every day!
The pools were wonderful. Plenty of lounge chairs. Even when it was busy, it was still quiet and nothing like "south Florida" busy! We had food from the Tiki Bar at the pool and it was good. Great service. Enjoyed being able to get fresh towels without any problems. The beach was gorgeous to wade and walk. The resort itself was more beautiful in person than the pics show.
Over-all it was an excellent experience. My one negative was that the Wireless internet service was only available in the lobby/restaurant area. There was no wireless available to purchase for in-room service. My Sprint phone service was very poor on the island, didn't work in my room and it drained my battery quickly so I was dependent on the wireless service in the lobby for all my communicating. I had to stay in the lobby late each night to load pics from our day and I would have MUCH rather done that in the comfort of my room. For me, that was a big inconvenience. I saw alot of the same folks in the lobby at night like me... everyone trying to use the wireless service.
Great restaurant experiences: Dukes and Hukilau Lanai. Shrimp Station had the best coconut shrimp I've ever eaten. http://www.napaliseabreezetours.com was the BEST catamaran trip up the coast. Don't miss the Waimea Canyon drive. AMAZING!
