“El Castañar de Aracena” (“The Chestnut Tree Forest of Aracena”) is a 15 ha (37 ac) chestnut tree Ecological Estate enclosed within traditional stone walls.
In the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Sierra Nature Reserve we offer you a centenarian private forest of chestnut trees and cork oaks where you can wander around with your family and friends.
You will find all the attention and detail that you request to enjoy your holidays. We prepare each reservation in a way that you will feel as being in your own home. We plan ahead to satisfy your needs by making sure that everything will be ready for you so your stay is a success. The house is the perfect relaxing and meeting spot for family groups, friends, sportsmans (MTB cyclists, hikers, Nordic Walking lovers, etc.) or nature lovers (bird watchers, mushroom pickers…) that want to enjoy the Sierra of Aracena and its magnificent routes, tracks and roads.
Comfortable Andalusian Farmhouse of 300 sq m (3229 sq f) built with thick walls of stone. The house has oak flooring and chestnut tree wood beams and window carpentry.
The roof is typically built with old Arab tiles. There are two porches of 36 and 39 sq m each (387 and 419 sq f) in the front and back yard with adjacent lawn areas.
You may go for wild mushroom and chestnut picking when in season. You will have access to beautiful walks around the Sierra through out a network of tracks and routes of different difficulty that will make enjoy from the uninitiated hiker to the most demanding sportsman. We offer plenty of information of the area: routes, restaurants, places to visit, tracks, activities, horse rental and routes from local horse farms, etc.
Very close to the house you will find beautiful old white villages accesible through splendid winding mountain roads with plenty of centenarian monuments (churches, mosques, etc.) and natural milestones (Cuevas de Aracena; peaks; rivers; viewpoints; etc.)
In a very short range you will find typical restaurants with traditional slow-food home-made cooking including produce of Aracena (vegetables and mushrooms) and local beef, lamb and the worldwide renowned Iberian pork.
