A delightful mountain village house with lovely views of mountains and lake

Our delightful old village house in the mountain village of Canillas de Aceituno, has been lovingly restored with solid wooden doors & window shutters. Downstairs with its beamed ceilings, there is a charming lounge, an equally charming dining room with typically Spanish hardwood furniture and seating for 6 allows you to dine in sumptuous comfort. A well equipped kitchen with granite work tops, oven, hob, microwave, fridge with freezer and dishwasher caters for your every need. Outside there is a small garden and patio with tiled table and seats & WC. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms with wardrobes, one with a small terrace leading off, and a bathroom with shower over the bath. On the top floor there is a large terrace with spectacular views of the mountains & Lake Vinuela, a table and seating ideal for dining el fresco. Built onto the terrace is the laundry room, with washing machine & tumble drier, available for long stay rentals.

Kitchen Appliances : All kitchen appliances are of West German manufacture. The instructions for their use will be found in one of the kitchen drawers. Please remember to use the extractor whenever the hob is in use. Gently pull the aluminum trim out to switch on the extractor.

Activities: Activities in the area are numerous, we will try our best to answer your queries. In the village there is a communal full size swimming pool with children's pool and a bar serving meals . This facility is open only during the summer months and you can spend the whole day for just a few euros.

Perfect For That Quite Holiday!

Really impressed! We prefer a quiet place, just short distance away from the coast to relax but if needed, take the beautiful drive down to the beach and this place was perfect.
Firstly we were greeted on arrival by the housekeeper and she was wonderful, informed us on the local facilities which are also stated within the information provided, took the short walk from the free car park to the house and then showed us around the house. We had her contact if any issues were to arise.
The house was clean, maintained and ready to settle straight in. The facilities within the house were clean and in working order, you didn't need to bring or go anywhere else for washing clothes, etc...
Small supermarkets for food are within the village, with a bank, pool, plenty of bars and a few restaurants serving gorgeous food. Highly recommend La Maroma restaurant, located next to the car park.
The lake is a short drive away, which is stunning to see from the balcony but just as beautiful to stand next too.
As for the price, for everything you get, the service and the facilities inside and out, it's more than reasonable and could be considered as cheap compared to other offers for what you get.
Full information and help from the home owner and housekeeper was given pre-holiday until the day we left and even when we were there for recommendations and other enquires.
I am highly recommending this holiday for small families and couples, to a point that we wish to return next year with my parents.

Our beautiful holidays

We stayed here 2 weeks in August. Canillas is beautiful spanish mountain village. In the village is everything what you need: bank with cash dispenser, pharmacy, different shops (bakery, market, meat), restaurants and bar, municipal swimming pool.
The property is close to the centre of village but not too close - so there is really quiet.
House is charming and cosy. There is all indispensable equipment (f.e. microwave, tumble drier, washing mashine, dishwasher, TV and other). On the roof is sunny terrace where you can take a sunbath. The bedrooms are on first floor. On the ground floor is nice cool even if on outside is 30 and more degrees.
Sonia, who is a representative of the owner of property is very nice and helpful person.
We recommend this property for everybody who wants spend holidays far away from typical holiday resort.

What we were looking for!

Just returned from a 2 week complete rest in this quaint village in the mountains. Spent most of our time on the sun deck just resting and relaxing. Did not hire a car because we have covered this area of Spain before and everything was there that we needed, shops, restaurants and bars. Plenty of walks with fantastic views and absolute peace.
The house is clean and tidy and is in a very narrow street with friendly residents.
The owners were very helpful and they put us in touch with our neighbours Roger & Angie who helped make our stay a memorable one.
Just be aware the house is 2 minute walk to the main square but up some steep stairs (which is great when you return from the square).

Good Times ....

We stayed in this delightful house for two weeks in August 09 and had a wonderful time. It has been sympathetically modernised with lovely 'quirky' features and a great roof terrace. This was our second visit to Canillas de Aceituno and once again we were not disappointed! The village Fiesta was in full swing during our first week and this was certainly a holiday highlight - in particular the foam party and the paella lunch. We used the Municipal Pool most days and always found this extremely well cared for and the food served in the adjoining bar is very good, as it is in all the other restaurants and bars in the village. The owner is more than helpful with any queries raised and we can thoroughly recommend this property for either couples or family holidays.

Enjoyable stay.

Stayed here in May. Nice little townhouse located on a quaint narrow street, a stone-throw from the village centre. Parking available 100m away. The house has all you need for a relaxing getaway - comfortable and traditional, located in a friendly Spanish village. Decent value.

Canillas de Aceituno is 32 miles from Malaga and 13 miles from the beaches of Torre del Mar, on the scenic Mudejar Route. It has a population of 2800 and is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Tajada mountain range. At an altitude of 2000 ft. It is on the slopes of La Moroma, the higest mountain in the area. La Maroma stands at a height of 6800 ft and is snow capped in winter. The Sierra Almijare Reserve comes right down to its borders. Granada is 1:5 hours away, Saville 2 hours and Gibralter just 3 hours. There are nearby golf courses, horse riding, cycling, walking and lovely opportunites for photography. Take a trip to Lake Vinuela, Comares, Salares, or Alhama de Granada . Nerja with its caves and famous Buriana beach and Balcon de Europa, or Ronda the capital of Serrania (Mountain range). Explore our lovely village with the best views of the Axarquia all the way from Boquete de Zafarraya. Have a genuine tapas in one of the bars, a Menu del Dia for lunch at the Bar Angle, or a meal at one of the many restuarants in the village.
