New Moon is A Magical and Special Place

From the moment we arrived, I knew this was the perfect place for my stay in Bali. I decided to rent the house and host some friends over a 2 week period. At first, we were 2 guys and 2 girls, but by the second week we were just 2 NYC chicks on our own who felt completely safe tucked away in a village 5-10 minutes by car outside Ubud. The villa was a casual, chic, quiet retreat overlooking endless lush rice paddies. A rather modern villa with the obligatory traditional Balinese roof, this is a great place to stay for the more cosmopolitan set.
The villa is truly an indoor/outdoor experience so the air was constantly filled with the sounds of nature. There are a couple of small ponds in the entryway which means that you are communing with frogs, geckos, and naturally, bugs. Every night, we slept with our doors open and mosquito net down and listened to nature in surround sound. The pool is an essential part of the house and we started and ended everyday with a refreshing dip. Perfection.
Wayan and Kumang were so warm and highly attentive to all our needs. The breakfasts were gorgeous, but the real secret is their dinner. If you ask nicely, I bet they will make you some of the best Balinese food you will have on the island with the freshest ingredients (inexpensive too!). Because of the indoor/outdoor nature of the house, the girls miraculously clean it from top to bottom everyday. We were lucky enough to rent the villa during Kuningan so they invited us to a ceremony at the local temple down the street where we made a beautiful offering in traditional Balinese dress. It was magical! The driver, Dess is above and beyond and one of the coolest dudes in Bali. If you want something, he knows where to get it and the most efficient way to get there not to mention he is a really incredible driver. He also knows a great massage therapist who is available to come to the house for $25/hr. We went on many day trips and he helped arrange them all.
Although I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Susanne, the rental process was wonderfully straightforward. She was so lovely and it's obvious that she loves her home and her Balinese family.
Notes: There is safe in which you can lock your valuables, a cell phone with preprogrammed numbers for staff, the villa is located in a small development called Desa Bulan so there are 5-6 villas in a row (this one has the best/most unobstructed view), Ebony is a a very special creature and excellent guard dog.
