Cool valley breezes and a nearby pali (cliff) that provides afternoon shade make this area desirable. Access to various fruits from the orchard is available to all guests. Choose from banana, star fruit, longan, mango, orange, tangelo, grapefruit, sour sop, or lemon when in season. For avid hikers or bird watchers there is plenty to explore both here in the valley and above at Koke'e State Park and Waimea Canyon--'The Grand Canyon of the Pacific'. At the end of the highway on the west side of Kauai, is breathtaking Polihale State Park where you can see the beginning of the majestic Na Pali coastline.
Pacific Missile Range Facility: For visitors on temporary duty at Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF), the commute is ideal. In 15 minutes or less you can be back relaxing after a long day or night on the job. With free wi-fi internet, you can stay connected. Being away from family can be tough, so we do our best to help make our guests feel like part of our family.
When we told Deborah that we'd be arriving later in the day, I knew she was a special kind of hostess because she offered to meet us in town as she did not want us to get lost in the dark. I thought that was so sweet and considerate! She really takes care of her guests. We also had a tour of Tom's beautiful orchard and you will enjoy the fruits of his labor. He gave us a bag of star fruit, papaya, limes and oranges and he would chat with us about the dogs and cat. The studio is lovely, clean and so well kept, exactly like the photos. The beauty of Kauai is true, with its lush greenery, canyon, and beaches as your guidebook will tell you but I have to say Tom and Deborah really made our stay special and we will always remember it. Hope to see you both again, thank you so much! Kevin & Rebecca
Spotlessly clean studio with fresh cut flowers and cold drinks in the frig set the tone. The hosts were warm and helpful. The setting is outstanding: long lawn with fruit trees descending to the river and cliffs with nesting birds on one side and cliffs to the river on the other side, a panoramic overview of the Waimea valley. Sat on the balcony each day watching the sun rise and the egrets flying overhead. Great birding spot: counted 23 species, mostly endemic, within a half hour walk along the river. Half hour drive to the hiking trails in Waimea Canyon or 15 minute drive to the beaches.
My friend and I stayed at Tom and Deborah's for three nights during the time we visited Kauai. I'm not one to normally brag about an experience unless I was swept away by it.We were looking for an authentic, secluded, cozy and welcoming place away from the touristic areas, we got exactly what we wanted.
We were located on a farm in a valley between a huge ditch and the tall majestic mountains ahead. We were woken up by the roosters and the birds in the morning, and we were transported to dreamland by the gentle sound of cicadas, frogs and chimes at night. We'd spend an hour on our private balcony gazing at a bright sky full of stars (I saw three shooting stars!) and we'd start our day with fresh fruit picked by Tom straight from the garden (mango, star fruit, oranges, banana). But all this would mean nothing if the hosts were not so formidable....
The best way to describe them is, they live from the heart. Deborah, Tom, you welcomed and treated us like we were family. Deborah, thank you for your attention to detail, our room was impeccable, you are a wonderful hostess. Tom, thank you for being so present to our needs and going out of your way to make our stay pleasant. I wish I could have stayed longer. May we meet again.
PS: the attached photo is the one that you took of us Tom :-)

Words can not explain how wonderful this place was. My husband, our son and I stay for 3 day in Tom's and Debbie's apartment and we did not want to leave. Everything from their garden and back yard was breath taking all thoses fruits. Our son loved running around and picking some of their start fruit and eating right off the tree. Sitting in the deck listening to the birds and at night watching the moon was so nice. Tom and Debbie were so sweet and nice they showed so much hospitality and helped us with everything we need they made us feel as if we were part of their Ohana (family) and I would highly recommend this place to everyone.
We had seven nights here and loved every minute.
The room is big and very comfortable with a full kitchen inside.
Debbie and Tom are very pleasant hosts. Thanks for the frozen fruit in the freezer, so we could make fresh smoothies. Also thanks for the possibility to get fresh fruit from your garden. My wife loved the star fruit and the oranges.
Also a complete snorkel equipment is provided for those they didn't want to buy anything.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-day stay in Tom and Debbie's wonderfully appointed studio. We loved sitting on the deck talking or reading, and the cliffs are gorgeous. The owners are knowledgeable and interesting to talk with. This part of Kauai is more laid-back and less touristy than Poipu, Kapa'a, or Princeville.
Located in the Waimea Valley along the Waimea River on the sunny side of Kauai is peace and tranquility away from the crowds and tourist sites. Come and experience Hawaiian country where horses often graze alongside the road and the majestic song of birds greet the day. Away from distracting city lights, relax on the patio at the end of the day and witness the magical night sky. Waimea maybe small town yet holds its own with plenty of places to dine, a movie theater, grocery stores, ice cream parlor, public library, and yearly events such as Waimea Days in February and the Lighted Christmas Parade in December. It is the gateway to Waimea Canyon, “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, and Koke’e National Park with numerous hiking opportunities.
