Aquamar is a fabulous, five-star apartment in a secluded corner of the Marina and within strolling distance of most of Vilamoura’s amenities.
This was our family’s 10th holiday in the Algarve (seven in Vilamoura), and all previously in villas with private pools. Yet, Aquamar apartment has been unanimously voted as the family’s favourite.
From the booking process via the wonderfully helpful Louisa to the warm greeting we received from manager Justa to the friendly security staff and efficient cleaners, Aquamar provided our base for a tremendous family holiday.
On our arrival, the apartment was spotlessly clean and thereafter the bed linen and towels were changed regularly. The kitchen is fully equipped, the satellite TV easy to operate, the air-conditioning effective and even though there were five of us (four adults and one child), the apartment was spacious enough.
However, the view from the large balcony is the highlight. It’s marvellous. From watching the early morning joggers to the late evening promenaders to the yachts and cruisers moving in and out of the Marina, Aquamar provides the perfect vantage-point, yet without noise or intrusion.
The apartment complex and communal pool were spotlessly clean, the car parking plentiful, the pool excellent and never busy enough to require us to seek out the allocated sunbeds.
However, for our family, Aquamar’s location made for a sensational holiday. The glorious Marina is a two-minute stroll away (more multimillion pound yachts and exotic supercars than you can shake a winning lottery ticket at), Falesia beach (the Algarve's finest) is a five-minute walk, the nearest hostelry (Parky's which we recommend for feeding and watering a ravenous family) is two minutes away and you can buy a newspaper just round the corner.
The supermarket, Jaffers, is a ten-minute walk, but be warned, it is expensive and frequently chaotic. For major supplies, we advise making the twenty-minute drive along the N125 to the Algarve Shopping Mall at Guia, where the Continente supermarket provides excellent choice and value.
When Papa goes to sea, Lloyds' Bell sounds, but he recommends the many boat trips, especially the Condor and the Missile Boat (the Usain Bolt of the Marina), while my eight-year old son adored the water parks Aquashow and Slide 'N Splash and most of all, the fantastic Zoomarine.
All in all, a marvellous holiday in a fabulous apartment. Indeed, we are already planning to return next year.
