Monte Pedrosu apartment

This is a lovely small and rustic complex of apartments, a 10 minute walk from the nearby village and a 15 minute drive to the nearest town. The apartment was very clean - quite modern and with a very well-equipped kitchen. Also a washing machine which was incredibly useful. Comfortable bed in the bedroom, but I was disappointed with the sofa bed which had slats missing and was lumpy - yet to be fair this didn't phase my children (4 and 7) one bit - they slept amazingly well. There is no air conditioning in this apartment which is a bit of an issue - I had to have the fan on constantly through the night to stay cool. Otherwise I couldn't fault it. The apartments are very pretty (as are all buildings in the entire island), with incredibly well-tended gardens (my professional gardener husband was impressed). We had a lime tree in our garden - others had fig trees, pomegranate trees and pear trees as well as copious rosemary. The owners live in the first apartment on site and speak no English but are thoroughly charming and smiley - they let us borrow a bbq as the outdoor cooking area was on the other side of the small complex from our room. The pool is great, good mix of people from UK, France and Germany. Other kids so our children made friends. Nice balmy walk into village in evening with good selection of restaurants - I think 4 in total - lovely pizzeria (basic though - plastic cups for your wine!) on main street of village, our favourite was the restaurant on the main road opposite "pasta fresca" (which is a shop selling freshly made stuffed pasta for you to cook at home - try the sweet lemon and ricotta one which you fry for dessert and drizzle honey onto - delicious!). Also the BBQ restaurant is excellent! (you'll see signs for it - great walk back looking at the stars at night). All the local beaches are great but the best are Brandinchi and La Pitralu. San Teodoro is nice - bigger than Monte Pedrosu but still not massive - nowhere really is in this part of Sardinia! Our recommendation for a day out is to drive to Palau and get the ferry to the La Madalena ferry, go there and spend some time in the town, drive round the island - actually quite a buzzing town. You will have a great time here, it's beautiful.
Owner's Response: We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at the Monte Pedrosu Apartments. We agree that they are pretty much faultless and enjoyed by families and couples from many nationalities.
The choice of apartments means there is an apartment within everybodies budget. No 10 is the only truly one bedroom apartment, whcih relies on a sofa bed for extra guests. You might like to know that No 9 is priced as a one bedroom apartment but has a 'bonus' bedroom, great for children but since there is no view not so good for adults. The other 8 apartments all have 2 berooms, they vary in size, views - and price.
I'm sorry the sofa seemed to have missing slats - sometimes they move around during the season, but in any case we have asked our Rep, Carola to take a look and replace any that are missing. I guess at 4 and 7, having had a day out in the fresh air and swimming, you'll sleep more or less anywhere and I'm pleased this wasn't a problem for your children.
You seem to have had a great time exploring the immediate area and further afield.
I'm also pleased to hear your appreciation of the gardens and have passed your comments onto Francesco Porcheddu, our gardener, who has taken the garden over this year and is meticulous about his work, not easy in the exceptionally warm and dry summer they have had in Sardinia this year..
We supply fans free of charge in all our accommodation which has no air conditioning. Actually it is a much healthier environment to sleep in withourbair con, and does help you to acclimatise more quickly to the local temperatures.
Hopefully you'll book with Freelance next year, we'll look forward to hearing from you
