Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday villa in Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil - Le Pech de Rose
4 Bedrooms, Sleeps up to 10
This spacious gite with large 10 m x 6 m heated swimming pool sits in the middle of approx 2 acres of land including a wood, just above the village of Les Eyzies de Tayac. There are two main floors and a basement to the house. It has 2 spacious bedrooms with double beds on the top floor (one also contains a single bed) and there's another bedroom with bunkbeds. There's also a landing with a day bed suitable for a child to use.
On the first floor, the spacious 'L' shaped lounge and dining room are reached via steps and a small terrace to the front of the house. Also on this floor are a double bedroom and bathroom just off a small corridor from the lobby - the door into this suite can be locked and so the area can be made private. The kitchen is also off the lobby, and faces the back door.
Outside the back door there's a large terrace and you can either use the grand balustrade staircase to lead you down to the pool, or there is a pretty wooden pergola draped with honeysuckle and wisteria with stepping stones to reach the pool terrace where you'll find plenty of sunbeds and parasols, and a table with 4 chairs . Al fresco dining can be enjoyed at a large square wooden table on the top terrace overlooking the swimming pool. Here, you'll be sheltered from the hot sun by an elegant curtained gazebo at breakfast time and later you can dine there on delicious food cooked on the large stone BBQ!.
If you prefer to take your holiday in the late autumn there is a log burner and cental heating to keep you cosy and warm, though it is often mild to mid-October and warm enough without the heating most nights.
Inside the house, the comfortable lounge and dining room seat 9 adults. Satellite TV (English and French channels) a DVD player, PS2 games console with games for all ages and Wi-Fi, are all included in the cost! There are plenty of interesting books to read and some board games to play.
On the top floor there's a stunning master bedroom with super-king size French bed, then another pretty double bedroom with a double and single bed, and a single room with sturdy 3ft bunks, and adjacent to these are a shower room and separate WC. On the landing there's a day bed suitable for a child.
Quality furnishings and finishes throughout. Decor is mainly neutral.
For babies, there are two travel cots, travel bath, two highchairs, musical mat, baby chair, changing mat, plus baby monitor (excellent condition). There is a garden swing set, a badminton/tennis net with racquets, and indoor and outdoor toys and games, including 3 ride-on toys, lots of pool inflatables including water-wings for the babies, and a table tennis table, small pool table and dart board in the basement.
The house is luxuriously comfortable, and is decorated mostly in neutral tones. Bed linen and towels are provided. Hairdryers are provided in the double rooms. PLEASE NOTE - Pool towels are NOT provided, so do remember to bring yours!
The fully stocked kitchen has an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, table and 4 chairs and there are plenty of utensils to make your stay comfortable . The washing machine is located in a room within the basement.
The area is outstanding even in the autumn - a small number of the nearby caves and grottos stay open all year round. Brochures about the attractions of the surrounding area can be found in the house - there's something for everyone including beach lakes for swimming, leisure and animal parks, canoeing, fishing and golf, and magnificent chateaux, fascinating castles and forts perched high in medieval villages only reachable by foot (eg Beynac - not for the fainthearted)! If you like to relax in the warm sunshine, there are beautiful riverside settings in which to enjoy a picnic.
Back at the house, in the back garden you can enjoy the 10 m x 6 m rectangular swimming pool which has Roman end steps for your comfort, and its large terrace with sunbeds and parasols. The swimming pool, which has a safety alarm, is 1.25 m deep throughout, so no scary slope. The pool is normally heated from the beginning of June until the end of September, and as the sun shines here most days the use of its solar cover is a very effective way of retaining heat during the day when it's not being used, and at night time. The pool heater kicks in if the water temperature drops so the pool is always comfortable.
!! DONT FORGET!! Please bring along your own pool towels as these are not supplied !!
For outdoor dining there is a large stone charcoal BBQ on the top terrace over to the left of out of the back door.
The surrounding environment is wooded and wonderfully tranquil, and the house and gardens are private and not overlooked. It's a short trip downhill to the village with its several shops, post office, 2 cash dispensers and beautiful riverside setting where you can enjoy a picnic and watch the canoes float by. There are a number of cafes and restaurants in the village, selling delicious food - everything from pizzas and take-away snacks, to award winning gourmet delights!
There are several interesting attractions in the area, the weather is gorgeous and the locals are friendly - you're assured a wonderful holiday in a beautiful and amazing setting!

About Gary and Brenda Sear
Hello! We're dedicated to making you as comfortable as possible - we know just how precious your holidays are, especially when spent with friends and family! We have 2 grown up girls and a boy, and a lovely grand-daughter, and a new grandchild on the way and love to spend time relaxing with them and our friends in comfortable surroundings.
Gary and Brenda Sear purchased this villa in 2011
Why Gary and Brenda Sear chose Les Eyzies de Tayac Sireuil
We were absolutely set on buying Le Pech de Rose from the start, as we knew it had the potential to become a calm and relaxing retreat for guests, far different from their usual daily life which is so fast paced these days. Reviews of the property show us that it has been just that - a relaxing haven after a day's sightseeing.
What makes this villa unique
We think the house is perfectly situated. It's not far from the village and other places of interest. It's also a very calm and tranquil place, private and not overlooked.. Hardly any traffic passes the front gates. We love the village of Les Eyzies with its fascinating pre-historic links and the amazing and beautiful grottos, the massive rivers and the many caves with their pre-historic paintings, some of which date back about 19,000 years. There are 12 restaurants in this village alone, and several lovely places to find delicious food all around this area! We have made several improvements to the house - the downstairs bathroom has been totally remodelled, the pool and terraces were added and the back garden and wooden pergola were created, both of which now feature plenty of established plants. Improvements for 2015 - we have added balustrade and steps down to the pool, and lighting around the pool area is being installed currently. We're happy with how Le Pech de Rose has evolved into a comfortable, inviting property with a great outdoor space , and we're extremely happy that our previous guests have been so at home here that some have returned from Tasmania and have booked again for 2015!
Guestbook comments from the owner
We found the house very pleasant, quiet and spent a very good week at Les Eyzies with sun and high temperatures. We visited a lot of caves (grottos), castles and we took advantage of the pool night and day. Very beautiful landscapes. Many thanks for your pleasant disposition and it was a great pleasure to spend one week (only!!!) in your house.
