WELL PRESENTED SEMI-DET HOUSE IDEAL FOR RELAXING BREAK - SCENERY, GOLF, BEACH

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in County Londonderry

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

The property is a three bedroom semi-detached house. It is situated in the attractive town of Portstewart on the majestic north coast. The town has a picturesque harbour and promenade with a two-mile long beach. On the Promenade you will find a children play area, paddling pool and more. The house is off the main road , literally about a six minute/0.8km walk to the Promenade.

There is an open plan Living/Dining Area and a separate Kitchen downstairs, with two double and one single (with sturdy bunks) bedrooms upstairs. The living/dining area, hall and upstairs bedrooms all have wooden floors. The stairs and landing are carpeted. Outside there is a garage where you can hang your wet suits, store your surfboards, bicycles, etc. There is quite a large front side garden and enclosed side and rear gardens to keep the little ones safe. On the rear patio there is garden furniture (table and chairs). Fuel for the fire is also available in the coal-house. Wi-fi can be requested.

There are so many things to see and do in the area and beyond. Here are a few suggestions;

- Stroll down to the Promenade and peruse the shops

- Walk from the house, over the hill to the coastal path, the Strand, Barmouth or the Promenade and beyond.

- Play bowls, tennis, putting, golf or surf on Portstewart Strand Within a few miles there are Golf courses in Portstewart (3), Portrush (2), Bushmills and a 9 hole course between the two Ports.

- to the east visit Dunluce Castle, Bushmills Distillery, Giants Causeway, Carrick-a-rede rope Bridge and Ballycastle and Rathlin Island. (Bring your National Trust Card)

- to the west visit Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne for a walk.(One of the most photographed scenes in Ireland)

- Travel by train from Coleraine to Derry/Londonderry, one of Michael Palin’s Great Railway Journeys. Walk on the historic Derry walls.

- A ferry will take you from Magilligan to Greencastle in Donegal where you can go for a wonderful days drive round the Inishowen Peninsula.

- You must check out the Antrim Coast Road, described as 'one of the top 5 driving trips in the world'.

- A day trip to our capitol, Belfast, is only 1 hour 15 minutes away.

- In Portstewart there are many restaurants,or try Portrush for a change.

- The nearest Tourist Information Office is in Coleraine; the Library situated below the Townhall on the Promenade has a little information, the Library also has internet access, which is free to members or a small charge if not.

Golf Situated on the beautiful North Antrim Causeway coast is the host for the 2012 Irish Open Golf Championship, Royal Portrush Golf Club. Being 5 miles from Portstewart, it occupies a triangle of giant sandhills which present magnificent views in all directions. The hills of Donegal in the west, the Isle of Islay and Southern Hebrides in the north, with the Giant's Causeway and the Skerries in the east. The course is overlooked by the ruins of 13th century Dunluce Castle and this gives its name to Royal Portrush's famous Dunluce course. Royal Portrush Golf Club is on everyone's list of top golf courses in Ireland and is often included in lists of the top golf courses in the world. As Ryder Cup star Darren Clarke recently said 'Royal Portrush is now rated to be in the top 12 golf courses in the world and should, indeed, be number one.'' Portrush is also the Home of 2010 U.S. Open Champion Graeme McDowell.

I am a retired Civil Servant, and for most of my working life I was in the computer software and security business. I was born in Portstewart and lived there until I got married to Hilda in 1971,

when I moved to Belfast. Hilda trained and nursed in the RVH Belfast before and after we had 3 children. Hilda has now been a counsellor for the last 20 years. We have four grandchildren.

1 Seafield Park was Hilda's family home from 1966 after moving from Belfast. Two years later Hilda moved back to Belfast to train as a nurse in the RVH. We have owned the house from about 2001. It has been fully renovated and fitted out with high quality furnishings, kitchen appliances and units.

We try to ensure that the property in kept in 5 star condition, not only for our own use but to share with you, our guests.

We have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren. They have all spent many happy holidays in this house which is now fully equipped and modernised for present day living. The property is in a peaceful location yet very convenient to the beach, our promenade and all the magnificent scenery of the North Coast and Donegal. We have private parking and an enclosed back garden

A lovely bright home that is comfortable, well presented and very clean. The living area is a good size and the open fire is an added bonus. It is well equipped for kids including a high chair, books & toys. And Wifi is included! The house is also in a great location close to the beach, shops and promenade. We hope to b back!
Owner's Response: Carla thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are pleased you found our home to your liking. I agree that our home is situated very well for easy walking access to promenade with children's play area and the beautiful sandy beach and rock pools by the seashore.
I hope Trevor enjoyed his 'Land Surfing', a great time of the year to do it when the beach is quiet. Looking forward to welcoming you back.

What a gem!

We loved staying in Portstewart at this little house! We blindly picked this town and this house and truly lucked out. This house, although small, has everything you would need to have a successful holiday and more. There were even games for the kids! The beach truly is close by and the town has a lot to offer. We were also incredible close to the Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. We felt like we were well taken care of and I would highly recommend this house to anyone.
Owner's Response: Kathy we were delighted to have you choose our home, on the magnificent North Coast of Ireland as one of the two bases for your visit to Ireland. We are very pleased you enjoyed your time with us and found our home to your liking.
As a young family of four, on a six month European Adventure you are truly an extra ordinary Canadian family. I am enjoying following you on your Blog, seeing what you are getting up to. I know you spend a lot of time doing the kids 'home schooling', so I thank you very much for taking time out to write your kind comments.

The house is immaculate, of a very high standard and has everything you need. It is situated very close to the promenade, beach and yet in a very quiet location. I would definitely give this house five stars.
Owner's Response: Thank you Pat, we are pleased that you and your sister found our house to your liking. I am also pleased that you found the location very suitable for you as a mobility scooter user. Looking forward to seeing you both again.

Great house in a great location

The house was in great condition and had everything we need for a week away with two small children. It is an excellent location within easy walking distance of the Strand and the Promenade

The weather was mixed but you can't have everything. Hopefully we will be back one day.
Owner's Response: Thank you Ben, I am pleased your first visit to N. Ireland went well and you enjoyed your stay with us. Convenience to all local amenities is a factor to consider with infants in tow! Infants are of course well catered for at Seafield, we have a sturdy pushchair, cot and highchair (and even a little step for the toilet!).
You would be made very welcome should you choose to return to Portstewart.

Portstewart is a quite, sedate resort, with a picturesque harbour and promenade and to the west is the sweeping two-mile stretch of Portstewart Strand. Great golf courses including Royal Portrush which was the venue for Irish Open 2012. Travel east and within 20 minutes you can visit Dunluce Castle, Bushmills Distillery, Giant's Causeway. Travel a little further see Carrig-a-rede ropebridge and Ballycastle and a little boat trip to Rathlin Island and do a spot of Bird Watching. Portstewart has wonderful coastal walks to Blue Flag beaches, swim, surf or lie in the dunes and soak up the sun. If you want to play, there is Tennis, Bowls, Putting, Sea Fishing trips from the local harbour, surfing on Portstewart Strand or for a change try Portrush and of course Championship Golf courses in Portstewart and Portrush. Go west to Derry / Londonderry (was UK City of Culture 2013, about 1hr. drive) and Co.Donegal for more magnificent scenery. Come during May for the International North West 200 Motor Cycle Race Week; July for the N.I. Milk Cup football Tournament and 'Keswick at Portstewart'; September for the N.I. International Air Show. These are just a few of the highlights. Remember each season gives a different experience.
