THE APARTMENTS

We have seven holiday rental apartments at Chalet Beaumont, located over four floors. Each apartment has its own lockable front door with direct access to the outside as well as full bath/shower room and kitchen facilities. This is the perfect spot to take in the stunning view of the Chamonix valley and its mountains to the north as well as up towards the Aiguille du Midi.

We offer a great location for families and anyone looking for the outdoors and some calm as we are a little out of the town so there is lots of space around the chalet to build snowmen, toboggan, explore the woods and even ski or snowboard in our meadow, depending on experience. During the warmer months you can make the most of the barbecue on the terrace and even eat al fresco as we have tables and chairs available on the terraces and balconies. About Laura Hely Hutchinson

We are Laura and Greg Hely Hutchinson and Chalet Beaumont has been our holiday home in the Alps since the summer of 2010. We live in the UK most of the year and simply love coming to Chamonix, and are so excited to share our wonderful holiday apartments with you! We come at all times of the year with our little boy, family and friends and simply cannot get enough of all the valley has to offer; sports, culture, shopping and eating.

Laura Hely Hutchinson purchased this apartment in 2010

Why Laura Hely Hutchinson chose Chamonix

Our decision to buy Chalet Beaumont came from our love of France, where we had both spent a part of our childhoods, a shared passion for the great outdoors and a dream to provide holiday accommodation which to each of our guests would feel like their own home-from-home in Chamonix - where they would want to come back to time and again.

We and our guests get to enjoy hiking, skiing, mountain biking, paragliding, snowboarding, rock climbing and so much more. The valley is often referred to as a Mecca for outdoor sports so what better place to come back to time and again?

Plus, when the weather sets in we appreciate the time to catch-up on some reading, play a game of Scrabble or watch a movie. We never get bored here!

What makes this apartment unique

Just a few minutes drive from Chamonix town and the ski lifts of Les Houches and Brévent, Chalet Beaumont offers the perfect combination of Alpine peace, tranquility and beauty with the essential access to shops, restaurants and an array of activities.

The view of the mountains and valley below is mesmerising - even friends who live in Chamonix find it breathtaking! Chalet Beaumont offers the natural quiet and calm that comes from being in the mountains; revitalising the senses and filling you with the wonder of nature.

Yet just a few minutes from the valley's main road and town centre, the location provides quick access and easy access to shops and restaurants and more importantly the ski lifts and a vast array of hiking and biking trails and climbing spots - many on our very doorstep.

Chalet Beaumont offers such a comfortable, peaceful and relaxing place to return to after a day exploring Chamonix!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We stayed for 4 nights and were more than happy with the accomodation. The property manager was extremely helpful, the chalet was exactly as described, and good value for money. We'll be back

NICE STAY IN CHAMONIX

  • 4 out of 5
The 'chalet' was nice facing the high mountains.
We find it strange not to have a radio or a television just to be aware of the latest news.

Owner's Response: Hello and thank you for your kind feedback!

Many of our guests enjoy not having a television in the apartments as they feel even more that they are 'getting away from it all' so up until now we have held off including them. When we go, we take laptops and keep in touch that way.

However, as of this autumn, we will be providing televisions with built-in DVD players on request. And I like the idea of the radio so will be adding these too. Thank you for your helpful suggestion!

Excellent place & location, Wonderful hosts

Excellent place & location, Wonderful hosts
  • 5 out of 5
I stayed with my two daughters in the Gentiane appartment of the Chalet Beaumont for 10 days and I must say we have enjoyed every single minute. Whether it was the exquisite location (great views every day, wonderful starting point of hikes up to the des Bosson & Tarconnaz glaciers), the easy of getting to and from Chamonix, the quality & cleanliness of the appartments itself or the friendliness of the managers/hosts ... all of it was 5 stars. We had a great time, surrounded by a beautiful landscape, and enjoying also the shared BBQ faccilities. The managers were always helpful and there is a seriously good vibe and atmosphere surrounding the chalet. The des Bossons glacier is an underestimated beauty and the hike up towards Le Jonction is worth every minute of effort. Chamonix is within easy walking distance (45 min), and under 5 min by car, but retreating tot he Chalet after dinner, away from the tourist streams up Le Mont is very enjoyable.
There are spectacular hikes to be done in the surrounding areas, such as in the Aiguilles Rouges most of it within a few minutes drive from the chalet. But also the trails near the Bionassay glacier are very near by. I very much enjoyed being in a chalet where you just sense that the guests in the other appartments share the same appreciation of natural beauty and fascination with the landscape. Chamonix offers a whole range of facillities and attractions. And if you need to update or upgrade your gear (for hiking or climbing or skiing) you'll be able to get it all locally and there is enough competition between shops to keep prices reasonable. If you are a fan of a daily swim you may find yourself driving quite a bit, but there are good opportunities, including some beautiful fresh water lakes, in the area.
I have been coming to the Chamonix valley for a few years now, but my stay at Chalet Beaumont was definitly my best experience by far and I for one will definitly be coming back again.

Stunning View

  • 5 out of 5
Chalet Beaumont is a lovely warm and cosy enjoyable place to stay. The view over the valley is stunning. Sarah and Phil are great hosts and Danny the spaniel is the cutest dog ever! Piles of snow everywhere, so skiing is great. Very good grocery store about 5min. away. Lots of shops and very good restaurants. A bit pricey with our exchange. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Chalet Beaumont - Chanonix - Fantastic!!

  • 5 out of 5
What a great location! We came out of season, for the last week that skiing was available in Chamonix. There was no snow down in Les Bossons, but the scenery was still great...with the glacier only half hour walk away.

We stayed in the 'budget' accomodation which was clean, spacious and had everything you needed. The restaurant down the road from the chalet was closed, as we went in the first week of may (when everyone is having a little break). However, this was fine as the supermarket is only a short drive down the road.

As we were not there in the 'proper' ski season, we can't comment on the skiing resort in Les Houches, as the only ones open, we're Les Praz do Chamonix and Les Grands Montets. These were great though, for the time we went and I can only imagine that with all of the lifts open in the height of the season it would great.

Reccomendations:

Personally, we would reccomend hiring a car at this time of the season, as there were only 2 'mountains' open and we went from one in the morning to the next in the afternoon. However, if you are going to use the bus/train system, it looked reliable so you could go for that option.

It is quite expensive eating/drinking out especially with the exchange rate at the moment, so get a good rate before you go. Also it might be a good idea to take a rucksack with snacks and drinks up the mountain, as snack food is the most pricey...a bottle of powerade was 4 euros 30.

Great value accomodation, basic although clean and everything you needed included. A good option for value for money and freedom to eat out/in whatever time as opposed to a catered chalet.

Thank you Jenny!!!

Car: recommended

The Chalet Beaumont apartments are situated in the quiet hamlet of Le Mont, just above Les Bossons, between the village of Les Houches and Chamonix town centre, which are both five minutes drive away. The chalet's views of the mountains and valley are stunning and take your breath away every time you see them...

SKI LIFTS

The distance by car from Chamonix's ski lifts are as follows:

- Brévent, in Chamonix town: five minutes

- Les Houches: 10 minutes

- Flégère: 15 minutes

- Grand Montets, in Argentière : 20 minutes

- Le Tour: 25 minutes

DRIVING IN CHAMONIX

We usually recommend having a car when staying at Chalet Beaumont as this really helps you to make the most of your time in the valley as Chamonix is more spread out than most mountain resorts. With lots of free parking at the chalet, a straightforward drive into the valley from the motorway and car parks at all the ski lifts it is very easy to get about by car in Chamonix.

ON FOOT AND BY BUS

Walking down from the chalet there are three local restaurants: Le Tremplin, La Cremerie du Glacier and l'Hôtel Aiguille du Midi; all are a 5-15 mins walk from Chalet Beaumont. There is also a bus stop 10 minutes away, just opposite La Cremerie du Glacier. The bus will take you into Chamonix town and to the Flégère ski lift. The train station of Les Bossons is a 15 minute walk down the hill and in the warmer months it is a lovely 30-45 minute stroll into town. As the bus service stops at about 7.30pm you would need to book a taxi back after this time. Please bear in mind that it is a relatively steep walk back up to the chalet so add 10 minutes for walking back.

Going up from the chalet, you can enjoy a 45 minute hike up to a viewing platform overlooking the glacier and if you peer hard, you may see ice climbers risking life and limb amongst the awesome crevasses and pyramids of ice. There is also a chair-lift which opens in the summer season taking visitors from the valley floor directly to the viewing platform and the Buvette du Glacier des Bossons, a pleasant café where you can get a drink and a snack whilst enjoying the stunning views.

Continuing on, now a more serious route, you will eventually come to the junction of the two glaciers, Bossons and Taconnaz, where you can marvel at the spectacular views of Mont Blanc's ice falls. Some of the most famous hikes in the valley begin on our doorstep and indeed the first ascent of Mont Blanc, by Jacques Balmat and Doctor Paccard, started from our hamlet in 1786.
