|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
The house has retained many of its period features and is tastefully decorated with the mixture of antique and modern furniture. It is very light and thoughtfully arranged.
The owner is a gourmet cook, so the kitchen has every device and appliance. There is an American style BBQ gas grill in its own outdoor area. There are 3 double bedrooms one of which has twin beds which can also be joined to make a king sized bed. The sitting room also has an 'L' shaped sofabed which can convert into a double bed if needed. There are three bathrooms, one of which is en suite. The upstairs terrace seats 8 and is very sunny.
My 4 children (aged 11 to 6) and I stayed for 5 fantastic days in London. The house has the most incredible location, near the park, the museums, shopping, supermarkets, etc and is located in a calm neighborhood. The owner Bill was extremely helpful and welcoming. We could not gave rented a more perfect house for us.
Bill & Christine were a pleasure to deal with and I thoroughly enjoyed my 15 day stay at their Knightsbridge place. This used to be their home so is furnished to high standards. I would highly recommend this as an option to anyone on a vacation in London.
If you would like to imagine what it would be like to live in London, Bill & Christine's lovely town home is just what you want. Although it is one block from Harrod's, it is set in one of the little neighborhoods in Knightsbridge that feels like a village. The house itself is a jewel box. A small regency town house, this has the feel of a real home, not a 'vacation rental' property.
Three of us shared the house for a week and we each had as much privacy (each bedroom is on a separate floor) or as much togetherness as we wanted.
The house is extremely well-appointed, charmingly decorated and has lots of interesting books and an eclectic collection of great CDs. A bonus for us was the piano in the living room.
I slept in the downstairs lounge and found that the pull out bed was very comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and the kitchen appliances are of a very high quality, including a real refrigerator (not a half one under a counter).
I would wish to make this my 'home' in London whenever I go back.
As mentioned in other reviews, this is not a property for those who have a problem with stairs.
The process of booking was very easy and Bill is an absolute pleasure to deal with.
We really enjoyed our stay in this charming townhouse. The house and neighborhood are peaceful despite being close to a busy street. The tube stops were a few blocks away, and many buses stopped even closer (Tip: use the CityMapper app for great transit directions.) Many good restaurants nearby plus three small grocery stores made for lots of meal choices. The house has a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, recently remodeled bathrooms, and spaces to be together as well as apart. The house is historic and charming, though travelers that have difficulty with stairs might find that a problem - we did not. Bill, the owner, was very nice to deal with. His niece Kezia is the active manager; she was extremely helpful, even stocking a few groceries before we came and arranging an airport pickup. We had a problem with the dryer and she responded immediately, doing everything possible to resolve the situation. The home is within easy walking distance of the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and Victoria and Albert Museum. There is a collection of guidebooks and maps in the sitting room. The owners came by with a bottle of champagne on our last evening. We felt very much at home in this lovely house and would recommend it to anyone.
Excellent location, clean, near to Hyde park, shops, restaurants, Harrods. Save area for walking around. Most important great owners very honest & helpful great dealing with them. It will be my always pick when I visit London. I will certainly recommend it to relatives and friends
The house was lovely, and furnished with very interesting period pieces, yet it still felt cozy. The beds were quite comfortable, and the AC worked well. SAT TV in every bedroom! Everything we needed for our stay was there, including a well stocked kitchen, with some groceries supplied for our first day, which was a nice touch. As we had young children with us, we used the laundry facilities everyday. The neighborhood is especially good, being quiet and upscale, while close to everything. Many shops, museums, and Hyde Park within walking distance. For the size of our group, the price was equal or better to staying in a hotel, but in a homely setting with more conveniences. What really made our stay great was the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners and their niece. Check-in/Check-out was a breeze. They supplied a lot of brochures, maps, etc. in the home, as well as magazines, gave advice on transport, and brought over a bottle of wine one night to have a chat with us! : ) They even found a doctor for me as I was sick part of our stay. Thanks Bill and Kezia! Hope we get a chance to return!
If you have trouble with steps, the house might not be appropriate as there are a lot. But it keeps you fit! : )
Georgian Townhouse in Knightsbridge, central London. Moments from Harrods's in one direction and Hyde Park in another. Surrounded by some of London's top restaurants. There is also a local family Pizza Express and lower cost restaurants.
This rare central London house has four double bedrooms and three bathrooms. It is in an area known as Knightsbridge Village with period houses from 1800 which have a conservation order on them so that the area keeps its genuine period atmosphere.
For sightseers and shoppers Knightsbridge is the centre of luxury shopping with all the main designers' shops in Sloane Street, 5 minutes walk away as well as Harvey Nichols and Harrods less than 2 minutes from the house. King's Road is a 10 minute walk or five minute bus ride away or if you are looking for more general high street shopping there is Kensington High Street 7 minutes bus ride away or Oxford Street with the famous Selfridge's department store 10 minutes busride ( or a lovely 25 minute walk across the park) in the other direction.
West End theatres, Covent Garden, the Royal Opera House, are a ten minute bus ride away.
The Victoria & Albert Museum, National History Museum and Science Museum are less than 5 minutes walk away and the Royal Academy and Tate art Galleries a short taxi or bus ride from this lovely house.
Buckingham Palace is a 10 minute walk away and another 10 minutes further you will arrive at Trafalgar Square or the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
This really is the best part of London to be based for a combination of being central to all the attractions yet with the old London atmosphere.
