Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in City of London Financial District
A well positioned one-bedroomed apartment located in Historic Whitechapel

This one bedroom spacious and bright apartment is situated in a gated development where well-kept private communal gardens with plenty of seating offers a relaxing haven from the buzz of the city outside. Shopping for all your self-catering needs just couldn't be easier, as one of the best supermarkets in the East End is literally opposite, plus the daily Whitechapel street market has all kinds of exotic vegetables and fruit for sale. The apartment has an open-plan living-dining area with two sofas, with one being a sofa-bed, a solid oak table with four matching chairs and a dresser. There is a TV for home entertainment. Free WiFi. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, microwave, fridge freezer and coffeemaker. The bedroom has a double bed and fitted wardrobe, a bathroom with sink, toilet, bath and shower completes the accommodation. This apartment is on the third floor, which is the top floor and there is no elevator.

Access to the whole of London is simple from this apartment with three Underground lines from Whitechapel and plenty of bus routes. An average journey by Tube to Westminster for the Abbey and the Houses of Parliament will be 16 minutes and if you are here for the Olympics, 10 minutes will take you to Stratford and the Olympic Park. If you fancy cycling there are several Barclay's bike docking stations in nearby or why not walk to the Thames joining the Thames path and stroll all the way to the London Eye, this is a fantastic way to take in our historic monuments such as The Tower, foodie-favourite Borough Market, St Paul's, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Tate Modern and en route you can pause for refreshment at one of our well-known pubs. Try 'The Anchor' which dates back to 1676.

Art and culture are bountiful in our local area with the Whitechapel Gallery founded in 1901 recently revamped leading the pack. It has a highly recommended restaurant, too. London's East End is home to the city's most exciting artistic communities. With over 100 galleries and museums so you will be spoilt for choice, even before you discover the city centre's world-famous National Gallery, Royal Academy and British Museum.

Restaurants within a short walking distance mean you can dine out gourmet or simple. Don't miss out on visiting the trendy Brick Lane area, infused by the local Asian community with some great curry houses. Nearby vintage shops are hugely popular for browsing and many up-and-coming designer labels are to be found in the fashionable shops on Redchurch Street, Brick Lane and in the vicinity of London's must-see Spitalfields Market. There is a daily market in Petticoat Lane but Sundays come alive with the Columbia Road street market, specializing in flowers and with an atmosphere that's magic.

If you love shopping, the recently opened Westfield Stratford City only three tube stops away will be for you. This huge mall boasts two hundred and thirty eight stores including Apple, Prada, Marks & Spencer's and John Lewis which has it's own fantastic view point over the new Olympic Park. There is a seventeen screen cinema complex within the mall .

and a Casino too.

The location is ideal for either a vacation or a business trip.

A great place and a good location

My partner and I stayed in the apartment for three weeks and were really satisfied. The apartment is cozy and of good size and has all the necessary amenities. The Whitechapel Station (Hammersmith and City Line, District Line and Overground) is only a couple of minutes away, as is a stop for 24/7 Bus line to and from Oxford Street (don't really recommend the bus however, it takes ages). The apartment is also easily reachable from LHR.

There is a huge Sainsbury's just across the street. We did not test any of the restaurants in the area so cannot say much about that (the connections to the heart of the city are just too good).

The area is very much what you could expect of East London. If you want the "upstairs" of Upstairs/Downstairs experience, this is not your cup of tea. If you want to experience London as its most diverse, this is it. You will find tons of street vendors and sari shops, even an odd stinky fish booth but no fancy brand shops there. However, the area is gentrifying so fast that what we experienced may have totally changed in a matter of months.

For some the passing subway trains under the bedroom window may be too noisy. For us it was a nice reminder that London is a city - actually a city that sleeps in the night: The sounds disappear around midnight as the tube service stops for the night (far too early, to be honest).

The only slight negative was the rather slow (mobile) internet connection.

Rebecca, the landlady, was lovely and professional, as well as extremely fast in her correspondence, As she lives out of town, I do not know how eventual problems could be taken care of - but we had none whatsoever.
Owner's Response: I am so glad you had such a great time. Indeed Whitechapel keeps on reinventing itself and that is one of the many reasons I love it here. Check out the five minute film on the BBC series London Calling Whitechapel which I think sums the area up. So much to do and being in a short striking distance of all the major sites of London one is spoilt for choice.
I am very lucky to have a great back up team so if If anything practical goes wrong you can be sure of a quick solution.
Looking forward to your return! P.s. have a brand new Internet system installed now!

Cosy secured aparrtment in convenient location

I stayed at this apartment with my husband for 8days. The location is very convenient since it is just 2 minutes walk from the White Chapel tube station. It is just behind the station, Supermarket right in front of the apartment block. White Chapel is considered to be at bit rough area, but the apartment block is very well secured and totally safe and calm. Since it is close to the train station, we hear the train noise from the bed room, but it is not that bothering. The apartment has good size living room in the good condition, there is TV, internet, sofas, heater, so all the comfort is there. In the bed room there is good heater,so in the winter is fine. Bath/shower/toilet is cold, but there is heater. Hot water amount is limited since the tank is a bit small, but there should be enough hot water for 2 people unless you like very long shower, taking hot bath, or whole family stays. Kitchen is in good condition, we can find all the essential stuffs there.
Owner welcome us well and she is fast in replying the emaisl and she gave us all the information we need to know thoroughly in advance. She is very kind woman and we felt very comfortable.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review of my property. With regards to the hot water there is always a possibility to have more, as there is a booster switch which creates as much hot water as you want. . Don't think I agree with the word rough for Whitechapel, unless you mean like a rough diamond. It's not Kensington for sure but then my prices I think, reflect that.

Feel like home

We have spent 5 wonderful nights in this really cosy and well furnished apartment and had a warm welcome from Rebecca herself. At our arrival the flat was well prepared and heated, very clean and everything was exactly as shown on the pictures provided in the internet. Rebecca is very friendly and heplful..As we liked two separate rooms for sleeping she prepared the sofa-bed for sleeping too and it was also very comfortable. We felt like coming home when returning in the evening from busy London sight-seeing and can absolutely recommend the apartment for two persons and we will stay there again when coming back to London.
It is perfectly located next to Whitechapel tube station and bus stations. There is a streetmarket, many small and cheap shops and a big supermarket nearby and it is also possible to walk to the attractions like Tower an Tower bridge.
