If you want to discover Paris on foot, this is the place to be!
Our beautiful architect-designed apartment lies in the very heart of Paris at Châtelet in the first arrondissement.
Located on the top floor of an 18th century listed building on a quiet, leafy street opposite Théâtre de Paris and one of the city's most romantic flower markets.
A ten minute stroll in any direction takes you to some famous landmarks including the river Seine, Ile de la Cité, Centre Pompidou and the Louvre museum.
A bright and airy 'artist's garret' with stunning views, our apartment has been simply modernised whilst retaining its historic features.
The living area has a south facing balcony, an inviting sofa area, well-equipped with books, satellite TV, DVDs and CDs, as well as Wi-Fi.
We often stay ourselves and love to gather around our big oak dining table.
You will enjoy playing chef in the well equipped kitchen and the view of the twinkling river at night certainly takes the edge off the washing up!
The apartment is a home from home for us and we hope for you too.
We are an Anglo American Academic family who live in London but met at Stanford as Grad students. We have spent sabbaticals in the States and Paris and have by now grown to a family of 5 daughters and 11 Grandchildren--all of whom have spent some time in Paris and in this apartment. So we share it with you as house guests- albeit paying- but we leave everything ready for the stay of friends , not commercial tenants.

It is surrounded by beautiful buildings and the history of Paris envelopes you in every direction. It is quiet, comfortable and easy to live in. The neighbourhood is very safe and the little local restaurants excellent. A taxi stand, the metro and buses are all within a block: the River Boat is further away- two blocks at Pont-Neuf !
All rooms face South with French windows and small balconies.
We are not overlooked and sky lights in the bathroom and hall help fill the apartment with light. We have architects in the family so you will find a lot of thought has gone into the design and the details.
Our favourite view is watching the boats on the Seine from the kitchen sink, but the views of Ste Chapelle and Hôtel de Ville are also hard to beat.
Most of all, coming to our apartment allows us to become Paris residents with the freedom to construct a daily routine according to whim without restriction but with all essentials laid on.
Dear Clare and Eric,
As we prepare to leave Paris we just want to thank you profusely for sharing your lovely apartment. We really enjoyed our stay here and appreciate it's convenient location that gave us easy access to virtually every neighbourhood.
Once again thanks so much for allowing us to experience Paris like natives.

We had a very nice stay in Paris! Everything worked fine, Mme W. welcomed us at the apartment and explained everything to us, and we were really enchanted by the nice views to Théâtre du Châtelet and the Seine. But in particular my parents and I liked very much the decoration of the apartment that is quite functional and very cosy at the same moment – a combination you can't find very often. (My mother was absolutely enthused about the well organised kitchen cupboards, including the little tags indicating which item had to be where!) Thanks to the very central situation of the apartment we could discover quite a lot of Paris, and even with my old father who is not very quick on his feet anymore we could do some walks to Notre Dame, to the Quartier Latin or to Marais, and for the longer distances we could easily take a cab. So our stay in Paris really was a raving success!
As the realtors say, location, location, location. This nicely-appointed, light-filled apartment was everything we wanted and needed for our two-week stay. One of us was exploring the city for the first time so it was nice to be a short walk away from many of the major tourist attractions. The other had visited Paris many times but wanted to be reintroduced to places he hadn't seen in more than a decade. So from here we were able to wander comfortably through neighborhoods like the Marais, Montparnasse, Moufetard , the Latin Quarter and St. Germain de Pres without breaking a sweat. The Chatelet Metro stop was two blocks away, which was convenient for longer treks to Montmatre, the Eiffel Tower, the Arch of Triumph and Versailles. Thanks to the well-equipped kitchen, we cooked in most of the time and loved our frequent shopping trips to the nearby Rue Montorgueil and the Boulangerie just downstairs. Our French is barely passable and we would have appreciated more thorough instructiions in English for the appliances _ we never did figure out the complicated microwave/oven but we enjoyed trying since the view of the Seine from the kitchen window was always fascinating. The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable with a dollop of 19th-century Parisian charm thanks to its marble fireplaces and large mirrors. A wonderful place. Peg and Frank
Everything was as described. The property was clean and comfortable. It is so very central and within walking distance of the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, the Left Bank, the Seine and numerous restaurants and shopping. There is an exceptional bakery right downstairs! The French doors are fabulous...open to the light, air and sounds of Paris! The kitchen facilities are adequate. There is a cooktop and microwave but no oven. Who wants to cook with so many excellent restaurants nearby? I highly recommend this property. I could live there!
My mother and I stayed at the apartment for 3 weeks over the Christmas and New Year's holiday. We had such a lovely time. The apartment is located close to the metro stop, and walking distance to so many great restaurants and shopping. I loved the small balconies, and enjoyed hearing the bells of Notre Dame in the mornings and watching the boats on the Seine out the kitchen window while we had our morning café.
This charming and cosy apartment immediately felt like our home in Paris. It's lived-in, comfortably-equipped rooms were somehow forgiving, allowing us to relax completely. Even on the grimmest of grey, late winter days, the place was cheerfully illuminated by skylights, antique mirrors and south-facing balconies. Almost everything we needed was here, without making the place feel too cluttered. The joy of the central location cannot be exaggerated in terms of access to cultural, historical and gastronomic treasures. A short walk around the block yielded brioches fresh from the oven, a surprisingly reasonable first edition of a favorite Zola novel, and enough mimosa to fill the flat with extra sunshine. With a Velib station a few steps away, all of Paris is literally at one's feet.
We just spent 5 days in this apartment and we really loved it. The description is correct in every way. The views are wonderful and it is situated in an excellent area close to many of the great sites of this city. There is everything you could possibly need in the apartment (maybe and extra frying pan would be useful), an excellent coffee maker and a very good washing machine. We were particularly interested in the food of Paris and found a beautiful restaurant just 50 meters from the front door called ‘Terminus du Chatelet’ it served very good French food, not cheap, but worth a visit. It took us some time to find some real food shops other than the supermarket and it’s just a short walk to the corner of Rue Saint-Honore and Rue des Prouvaires where you will find a lovely delicatessen, vegetable shop and butcher. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Saint Chapelle Church which was beautiful and the Cluny Museum with it’s wonderful tapestries.
We would definitely recommend this apartment and would love to stay here again.
Brian & Leone Coward. Sydney, Australia.
Steeped in history, with buildings from the 18th and 19th century on one side and the Théâtre Musical de Paris on the other, we are just one block north of the Quai Megisserie which runs across the Seine with bookstalls and flower markets.
Place Châtelet with the gilded victory atop a column and surrounding fountains has claim to be the centre of Paris.
A 10 min walk south takes you across the bridge to the Ile de la Cité and Notre-Dame. To the east, the Hôtel de Ville; to the north, Centre Pompidou, to the west, the Louvre museum.
We are at the crossroads of all transport: Metro, RER, buses and vélib (street bikes).
If, like us, you are passionate about food then this is a great part of the city to base yourself in.
One of the country's oldest and most loved gourmet food markets on Rue Montorgueil is a short walk away, whilst below our apartment is one of the best boulangeries in Paris.
Shopping, sightseeing, cultural entertainments and, of course, great and varied places to eat are within easy reach.
Other Activities: shopping, museums, theatres, cinemas, antiques, fitness centre.
