BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC COTTAGE WITH GENEROUS USE OF POOL & TENNIS COURT

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Heathfield - Little Bucksteep Oast House

A beautiful 3 bedroomed cottage which sleeps 7 people.

--- SPECIAL OFFER ---

Little Bucksteep Oast House is a gem of a self catering holiday cottage in Dallington, East Sussex, rated 4* by Visit England. It is a beautiful old English Country Cottage, dating from the late 17th century, set in the midst of the beautiful private gardens of a gorgeous Queen Anne Manor House. Guests have very generous use of the private swimming pool and tennis court apart from Sunday afternoons and Bank holiday afternoons. Oast houses are typical of East Sussex and Kent, and were used to dry hops for beer making.

The Oast has many period features including beams, wooden paneling, leaded windows, old stone walls and a wood burning stove and is furnished with lovely old furniture. The master bedroom has a beautiful 4 poster bed, and with the windows open you can forget the city and just listen to the birdsong and the peace and quiet. Truly a very special self catering holiday home.

Pampering and Exercise weekends and holidays are also available, which incorporate the wonderful Lotte Berk exercise classes, the original ballet barre exercise method, beauty and massage treatments. For the total luxury experience we can also arrange for the weekend to be catered with delicious home cooked food.

What a delight to be able to see England for the first time from the perspective of Little Bucksteep. The setting is so relaxing, beautiful and so easy on the eyes and ears. I have enjoyed listening to the birds waking up in the morning and closing down the day. A more relaxing outing I can’t imagine than the time spent in the cottage with friends I love. It was a real recreation staying at the Oast House and we enjoyed it enormously. Just two trips were possible with our kids (Brighton and London), because they didn't want to leave these wonderful surroundings, the pool and the well equipped house. Thanks for being such nice hosts, for your tasty apple juice and for Monty's visits at our terrace...

We spent wonderful holidays in England, with a home and a view that made us feel like being in a painting (see the photos..), Best wishes to you from Aachen

We have been running the Oast as a self catering holiday cottage for 4 years now. We do everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as we can, we are here to help, but equally we want guests to have their privacy. We are now starting Pampering and Exercise weekends/ breaks at the Oast house too.

Owner purchased this cottage in 2008

Close to airports, ferries and London. Set in beautiful countryside, with lovely old pubs. Very generous use of private pool and tennis court. Bikes for hire on the property. Glyndebourne is close by with world class opera. Beautiful gardens abide in this part of Sussex. If the pool becomes dull, the beach is within an hours drive too.

The Oast is special because it is old and beautiful and we have tried to furnish it in character with lovely old pieces. The open plan dining room/ kitchen is a lovely large sunny room and flooded with light. Guests have very generous use of a private swimming pool and tennis court. The huge 4 poster bed in the top roundel bedroom is a gorgeous luxury.

We also offer luxury pampering weekends which incorporate fantastic Lotte Berk Exercise classes, the original ballet barre exercise method, together with massage and beauty treatments.

4 bicycles on the property which guests may rent during their stay.

Faboulous accommodation like a fairy tale

  • 5 out of 5
When we booked these holidays we were a little skeptical:
Is it not always raining in England? Is it warm enough for a pool? Does such a house like the one pictured really exist?
"Our" Little Bucksteep Oast has surpassed everything. The location, the surroundings and the house make you feel like being right in a painting or in one of the films that run as "Rosmanude Pilcher Romance" on German television. One can hardly believe that such a property really exists. We had two wonderful sunny weeks with 26 ° C - no rain, just in one night. It was absolutely relaxing and a dream for the children . Therefore, we were able to persuade them only with difficulty, to make small excursions - they would rather stay at the Oast House and its conveniences.
Thanks again to you excellent hosts, Fiona and Robert, for your hospitality and the little touches, especially the homemade apple juice. Salute to Monty Dog, the children miss him. Best wishes from Germany and see you again!

A perfect retreat with access to many attractions.

  • 5 out of 5
We chose Little Bucksteep Oast for our holiday because of it's proximity to Glyndebourne, several National Trust properties and interesting walking country. We found a beautiful house in a stunning location providing us with everything we could have asked for. The house itself is very well equipped, large, light and spacious, with beautiful, yet comfortable furnishings, all of a very high standard and immaculately clean. The heated swimming pool and tennis court were a luxurious bonus. At the end of very busy days it was so pleasant to return to the house and enjoy a glass of wine in the garden. Sadly, we didn't meet Fiona and Robert as they were away on holiday for the duration of our stay, however, Nikki, who was looking after the property, was very friendly and on hand to answer any further questions we might have had. Fiona was a great help when booking and answered all our questions promptly. We all hope to return again soon.

Perfect for a small family get together!

  • 5 out of 5
We had a lovely weekend celebrating Grandad's 70th Birthday at the Oast. The cottage was very spacious for 7 of us and very well equipped (which is unusual for holiday rental kitchens!). We also found the beds and quality bedding very comfortable. The children loved the swimming pool and spent hours having fun in it due to us being blessed with such great weather. Our hosts were very welcoming and the children fell in love with Monty the dog!

A Truly 5* Star Idyllic English Country Retreat

  • 5 out of 5
Myself and my wife Janette had the absolute pleasure of staying for an extended period at the Little Bucksteep Oast House. This is truly a 5* English Country retreat with all modern facilities whilst maintaining the elegance of the real English Countryside and steeped in history. Waking up to the sound of the wildlife and the beautiful views of the countryside outside your window are wonderfully compounded by the cultural and historical elegance of the the main house and grounds. Horses, Sheep, Pheasants, fruit trees and all manner of birds and wildlife exist within the Oast House grounds and it is truly the most magical relaxed location you could want for your stay. Sky TV is installed with all the mod cons, a 4 poster bed, a homely log fire within the grounds of a Queen Anne Manor House. The Oast is also supplemented with a wonderful Swiming Pool (with slide) and Tennis Court for the more active family members. The location is beautiful and you do not really need to go any further although the Oast is encapsulated within a number of Idyllic local villages and pubs all close to the town of Heathfiled. We cannot thank Fiona and Robert the proprietors enough for their hospitality and their kindness and there was absolutely nothing that was too much trouble. Moreover they clearly went over and above to ensure our stay was as relaxed as possible. Myself and Janette have stayed in many places over the world and over many years in rural locations, but the Oast House was just a huge step beyond our expectations. We very rarely write reviews, but this really is the exception to the rule. What a magical English Country retreat, what wonderful facilities, what absolutely hospitable proprietors Fiona & Robert (and Monty) and just the most fantastic experience staying at the Oast House. It will forever be in our hearts and memories! Steven & Janette Keogh.

Owner's Response: Dearest Steve and Janette, thank you hugely for your review, we just loved having you stay with us, and can't thank you enough for being such perfect tenants - you were both so charming to us, and amused by any adversity - you probably endured the wettest ever winter and there were never any complaints, just laughter and jokes. Wishing you both very very happy times in your new home, Fiona x

FANTASTIC Girls weekend away - Second Year Running

  • 5 out of 5
You could not ask for more for a weekend retreat with your 5 best friends.
Heated swimming pool with a little slide, tennis court with rackets & balls provided, snuggly log burner in the lounge, (you can collect your own logs from the log store) and the comfiest beds.
Fiona is an incredibly friendly host who welcomes you with passion and care but then leaves you to your own devices and Monty the dalmation is a delight - an extremely placid and friendly dog.
The Oast is set in peaceful, beautiful surroundings and inside the property is absolutely perfect. A lovely open plan layout makes it ideal to spend with a small group of your favourite people, with family or as a couple.
This was our second annual visit and we will be back again next year for sure. We didn't want to leave!
The perfect getaway for a break from hectic London life. I simply cannot recommend Little Bucksteep highly enough!
