Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday home in Souvigny-de-Touraine - La petite maison du Feuillet

Surrounded by the most prestigious royal castles

The 'little house', integral part of the castle but also very detached from it, is South oriented. Spacious and bright, it has a view on both sides of the gardens: the french topiary gardens on the South, the italian garden on the north, and the surrounding country.

The fields and the forests surrounding the property make it an exceptionally quiet and relaxing place without any nuisance

The house is spacious for 4/5 persons. The 'mezzanine gives it a very nice ceiling height and a certain convivial character.

On the ground floor:

- 1 large living area of 40 sq.m with a fireplace , a TV with CD player, 2 double white sofas, lamps, pièces of old regional furniture from the 18e mixing old time and comfortable modern time.

- a fully equipped open plan kitchen, a bar, refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, oven, microwave, kettle, electrical coffee makers, toaster, mixer, washing machine, iron and ironing board.

- 1 large bathroom: bath/shower, double wash basins, shelves

- 1 separate WC.

Upstairs:

- 1 mezzanine with a desk, shelves, wi-fi

- 1 bedroom with a double bed, an old 'toilet chest', bedsides, chairs, lamps

- 1 large bedroom with 2 beds which can be joined, bedsides, a wardrobe, a table, chairs and lamps.

The whole nicely furnished with ancient regional furniture.

A hidden gem in The Loire Valley

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent 4 great nights at Chateau de Feuillet in January and it was the highlight of our driving tour around France.

Brigitte made us feel at home from the moment we arrived with the open fire lit and a warm welcome.

The little house is spotlessly clean and is fitted out with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Well situated within a short drive to Amboise and all of the main Chateau, this makes a perfect base for day trips.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone visiting The Loire.

Great hospitality in the Loire Valley

  • 5 of 5

We felt so welcome on our recent stay with Brigitte and Gilbert. The house is lovely and the gardens a site all on their own. We came here as our first destination in France, and pulling up to such a lovely setting, with local wine and products available in the kitchen was very welcoming. The location is very central to visiting all the neighboring chateaux, but you do need your own car to get around. Although their was one very tasty restaurant about a 10 minute walk away through the woods.

We had our 9 year old son with us and it was a great place for him as well. We played petanque in the afternoons, roamed around the gardens and read Tin Tin books. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in a time in the Loire Valley.

Exquisite house in the French countryside

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two grade school-age children, and it was just perfect. The little house, which is even lovelier than the pictures show. is spotless and comfortable. Also, there's a working fireplace! The landscaping is beautiful, and there is a lot of outdoor space for children to enjoy. The proprietors are so generous and helpful and communicate fluently in English. The location is central in the Loire Valley (which is crucial if you want to visit many chateaux) and is only 15 minutes' drive from the stunning chateau of Chenonceau or the interesting chateau of Clos-Luce (which was our kids' favorite). We loved our stay in this part of France and highly recommend this house! It was exactly what we were dreaming of when we decided to visit the Loire Valley.

Welcoming relaxed elegance amid the cuckoos.

  • 4 of 5

Our welcome with wine and rillettes set the tone of this break. The owners of this property continued to shower us with little gifts from the area or indeed from the chateau grounds: wild strawberries, mushrooms. This little house is beautifully presented with a well thought-out theme of white and fresh green. It was comfortable and clean with a lovely main bedroom. You could listen to the cuckoos in the surrounding woodlands, the gardens were stunning. The nearby village didn't have any shops but that was not a big problem. Only the tv was not up to scratch but this was the ideal place to sit and read. I wouldn't recommend it to a family with lively children as the main outside sitting area is quite public. I would definitley recommend it and would love to return.

Owner's Response: Dear friends We received you with pleasure, and spent exceptionals moments speaking of your work in Bengladesh I am so sorry for the TV that is just for playing movies. Our friendly guests have unfortunately a tendency to disrupt it ...... and I admit that we are not very good to put it back in good working order ....we are going to find a solution. Please accept our apologies. We will be very happy to see you again at "le Feuillet" ??? I insure you of our best memories Brigitte Thouveny

a beautiful tranquil setting

  • 4 of 5

we arrived after a long journey from Calais and experienced a wonderful welcome from our friendly and helpful hosts. The cottage set next to their own chateaux was extremely peaceful and beautiful and close to many famous chateauxs. the house was well provided for with many extra details to make our stay comfortable, the rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. we really enjoyed coming back form various sight seeing days to our beautiful cottage with its lovely garden. a perfect holiday setting. very romantic and restoring. the choice of other chateauxs to visit is overwhelming, so many amazing places... we enjoyed one of the local ones best, Chaumont-sur-Loire, with its garden festival well worth visiting. the local restaurant up the road, also seemed good but unforunately we hadn't booked in advance so didn't get in!

we would thoroughly recommend staying here for exploring this varied and beautiful area, we thought we could not have chosen a better place. MdeT speaks good english which was helpful for us as our French is very basic.

a very memorable holiday.thank you.

Exceptionnel

  • 5 of 5

In the heart of the historic Loire Valley listed as ' world heritage' ,with all its royal castles : Amboise, Chaumont, Chenonceau ,Chambord, Blois.... part of a 16-17th century castle, (comfort 21st...), between the river Loire and the river Cher for 4/5 persons

Choosen by our Kings during the Middle Age or the Renaissance, the region Touraine is the second one in France for the number of monuments and buildings listed...about 1000...castles, manors, village churches, mills, old houses, open to the public or often visible from the roads

A few kilometers from the world most famous royal castles

In the middle of a unique French garden of topiary and roses and a 4 hectare park that you can use, you will enjoy staying in the house adjacent to the main castle. The castle protected by moats, has a very long history and was the hunting lodge for Kings Louis the XIth and Francois the 1st. It was known in the year 1000...but rebuilt in the XVIth/XVIIyh centuries

Your holidays in the Loire Valley may be cultural or sporty or both .... thanks to the proximity of :

- The royal castles of Chenonceau, Amboise, Chaumont sur Loire ,located 10 km away, Chambord, Blois, Beauregard, between 25 and 40 km away.

NEW: the castles of Chaumont and Chambord are actually refurbished with the famous french furniture of our 'Mobilier National'...to discover..

- For garden lovers, the region contains the largest number of 'jardins remarquables',( a special label given for the interest , the collections and the quality ): The magnificent garden's festival of Chaumont, and its exhibition of contemporary art, the Villandry gardens known all over the world, the wonderful 'English garden' of Sasnières, the Italian Valmer terraces with a special old vegetables garden, the tomatoes' conservatory ( about 500 species..) of Prince de Broglie in La Bourdaisière, , the rose garden of the Priory of Saint Cosme where Pierre de Ronsard, famous poet lived during the Renaissance.......and many others private gardens open to the public...

- You could rent a canoe and go down the river Loire : you will discover the serenity, the wild river, at your leisure, sport or casual, (you can even leave the current carry you, all day ..). Do not forget the picnic stop on the islands ... and a nap.

- You can also ride a bike on tracks specially designed on the banks of the Loire River

- The young Pandas on loan from China, in the beautiful zoo of Beauval also await your visit ...which will charmed the whole family

- You will be amazed by the Chateau du Clos Luce in Amboise, where the ingenious Leonardo da Vinci lived and died, and where his fabulous machines are exposed...The children love..

- You can visit the freshwater Aquarium de Touraine with many species.

- The 'mini-castles', the friendly museum of hunting in the castle of Montpoupon, the fortress of Montrichard, the banks of the Cher, and many other things are available ....

Early morning or late in the day, you will have ringside seat to admire the many hot air balloon flights to Chenonceau, and why not try a first flight ?

,

In this wine country where the vineyards are an integral part of the landscape, the winegrowers of Touraine will be happy to welcome you to their cellars, carved into the cliffs, sometimes several hundred meters, to taste( soberly...) some of their Sauvignon, Touraine- Amboise, Vouvray, Montlouis .......with delicious 'rillettes de Tours', 'rillons' or goat cheese ( Sainte Maure, Valençay, Selles su Cher...)

You can also go walking in the woods near the house or read in a very quiet environment under the ' japonese weeping pagoda tree ' planted in the nineteenth century.

PS : all the great castles are open every day, all around the year. Idem for the Zoopark of Beauval, the aquarium..

A week will spend to rapidly to enjoy the whole Loire Valley in Touraine called the ' jardin de la France'.
