Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Krakow

Stylish 2 Bedroom apartment in quiet street - UNBEATABLE location.

TO READ THE REVIEWS OF THE GRAN TURISMO JOURNALISTS, GO TO: http://grantourismotravels.com/2011/01/10/our-home-away-from-home-in-krakow/. They visited in December 2010/Jan 2011.

Our bright, spacious two-bedroom apartment, situated in a typical Polish townhouse dates back to the 19th century and is perfectly positioned in the leafy street of ul . Boguslawskiego, home of one of Poland’s greatest Nobel Prize poets. The apartment is minutes from the historic Jewish Quarter, the Castle District and the City’s central square and is furnished with a mixture of contemporary and classical styles. We have retained the original Kracowian feel such as parquet floors, high ceilings and chandeliers. The magnificent living room consists of antique furniture, Afghan rugs and two comfortable sofas. There is cable tv, a DVD player , unlimited broadband internet access and a top-of-the range sound system. In the open-plan kitchen, we have all mod-cons and doors leading out onto a sunny balcony.

The Apartment - general: The apartment is perfectly positioned between the Old Town with its fantastic museums churches and squares; the Jewish District (Kazimierz) and the fabulous Renaissance Wawel Castle - all are approximately a 4 minute walk away. There are numerous tram and bus routes within 2 minutes walk in either direction and the train and bus station are a 10-minute walk away. There is a great variety of restaurants both in the Old City and also in Kazimierz. Across the street from the apartment is a useful grocery store. Easy access to airport, public transport and main roads leading out of Krakow. Central location within walking distance of main attractions. Quiet upscale neighbourhood. Newly decorated and furnished throughout. Over 100m2 living area. Gas central heating throughout.

Your Stay: You will be welcomed at the apartment where we will show you how everything works and help you with any queries you may have about your stay in the city. We use this apartment regularly ourselves so want to offer our guests a comfortable home from home experience. In the apartment you will find a map and a tourist guide to help you decide what to do and see. The apartment comfortably accommodates children who can play in the courtyard below which you can see from the apartment or within 2 minutes walk is the gardens of the Planty, perfect for a run around. We also own an apartment in Zakopane (property no. 87016) on this website) which perfectly complements a stay in Krakow. Zakopane, winter capital of Poland is an absolute must with its stunning scenery and wealth of activities. We offer you the choice of dividing your stay between Krakow and Zakopane.

Exceptions: Sorry, no single sex groups of 4 or more

Krakow apartment

  • 5 out of 5
We had a week in this apartment and couldn't fault it at all. It's very spacious, the windows are huge and make it very light and the bedrooms are comfortable and bizarrely have paintings of Richmond park on the walls! Kitchen is lovely, was clean on our arrival and boasts an array of utensils meaning you could happily self-cater for the duration of your stay, although we chose to eat out. We had to buy bin bags and washing powder etc though. The coffee machine suffered heavy usage and was easy to operate for a bleary-eyed caffeine fix in the mornings after a few Zywiec the night before. We were there at the tail-end of winter so didn't use the balcony but it would be a nice facility when the weather warms up a bit. Living room is huge and provides a great space to pour over the guidebooks while planning your activities for the next day. The iPod docking station on the HiFi was a nice touch but the piano is in dire need of a tune!. The best thing about the apartment though, is the location. You can be in the main square of the old town in less than ten minutes walk, or in Kazimierz - the Jewish quater - even quicker. Krakow is a beautiful city and our stay was made even better by choosing such a great apartment. On our return there was no problem with getting back the deposit cheque promptly.

Perfect location for a city break

  • 4 out of 5
We had a wonderful four nights in Krakow. The apartment is well located in a pleasant part of Krakow with only a short walk into the Old Town and trams just around the corner. It is spacious, light and airy with high ceilings and with large windows there was always a lovely breeze flowing through. Although it is old and tired looking, the furnishings are tasteful and comfortable and perfect for a rest after a days sightseeing before venturing out to a restaurant in the evening.
There were five of us so we had to use the sofa bed which looked really wonky but was actually quite comfortable. There was always plenty of hot water and we had no problems with using wifi. There are three flights of stairs to the apartment so be prepared for the climb.
Food is extremely reasonable and we loved the open baguettes they served in the market place of the Jewish Quarter. We chose a different restaurant in the Old Town each night. Try the soup served in bread as it is really delicious.
Communication with the owner was good and he was extremely helpful and organised a neighbour to give us the keys as we arrived at midnight. So if you are looking for a place to rest up after a day out and about then this is ideal.

Not As Depicted or Described

  • 1 out of 5
We stayed in the apartment booked through Homeaway from May 28-June 2, 2014. We found the conditions and description of the apartment to be far from truthful. We contacted the owner on 6/6/2014 and he did not respond.

The place is extremely worn out, dirty and disgusting. Nothing like his description of the place - also the building "manager" who was to show us the place "Your Stay: You will be welcomed at the apartment where we will show you how everything works and help you with any queries you may have about your stay in the city". Didn't speak one word of English!!

We tried to include a way for you to see the real conditions of the apartment, but were denied this due to VRBO's policies.

Simply Amazing Apartment!!

  • 5 out of 5
Booking was easy and Rafal provided answers to any questions we had quickly by email and phone.
Met by Maria she quickly and efficiently showed us around then left us to it. She does not speak much English but easily let us know what we needed to know.
The apartment is simply beautiful, very large, airy and was a pleasure to stay in. The huge bath was amazing with plenty of hot water at all times. Full cooker allowed us to eat cheaply after a days sightseeing.
There is a 24 hr Carfour supermarket 2 mins away.
Catch a bus from the airport to bus station then an easy 15 min walk with cases to the apartment. Apartment is up a few flights of stairs so be prepared to lug suitcases but believe me it is well worth the effort!
Fast free wifi did not drop out at all, there are some DVDs to watch in the apartment, it would be nice if each person took one to leave in apartment after viewing to build up a collection.
Lots of info on Krakow and some fiction books are there to read.
Walk into the main square is just across the Planty, lovely 5 min walk.
Make sure you book this apartment quickly before it gets taken for the dates you need, you will not regret your decision!!

Perfect in Every Way

  • 5 out of 5
We (family of two adults and two young adults) stayed in the apartment from Aug 7 to Aug 12, 2013. It really was perfect in every way and I can confirm the many glowing reviews. We had a very good and interesting time exploring Krakow and surroundings for which this apartment is a perfect base as it's only a five to ten minute walk from the center. The apartment itself is very pleasant and it was a pleasure to relax there at day's end; it 's very spacious, quiet, has a lot of character and is tastefully furnished; there was a wonderful breeze going through with the windows open. The description of the apartment is accurate; communication with owner was very good.

The one practical tip i could give concerns parking. We drove to Krakow and were concerned that there wouldn't be any parking around the apartment, which turned out to be the case (no street parking and nearby parking lots always seemed full). Fortunately, we knew about the underground parking garage on Plac Groblach, next to the castle, or about a ten minute walk from the apartment. We purchased a weekly pass for 200 z? (or about 70 usd). There was always ample space, so that worked out well. Interesting feature of this garage is that spaces have an indicator light at the level of the ceiling; if the space is unoccupied, the light is green, red otherwise, making it very easy to find empty spaces. Here's a link to the parking garage http://parkingpodziemnykrakow.pl/en/index.html ,

We wholeheartedly recommend this apartment for your stay in Krakow.

Krakow is the best-preserved city in Poland, the former capital and seat of the Polish kings and one of the jewels of Eastern Europe. Walking through the Old Town streets is like drifting back through the pages of an historical novel. This is where the Royal Castle of Wawel is located, as is the medieval Cloth Hall (Sukiennice). Krakow boasts churches from every period since the Middle Ages - Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism and is surrounded by monasteries and abbeys. There are opera halls, museums, and other cultural venues, including a centuries-year old university. The student population of the city numbers almost 100,000 and this large student population fires a lively nightlife scene that burns brightly in the atmospheric cellar bars. A visit to the nearby former concentration camp of Auschwitz is an unforgettable experience, as is a visit to the former Jewish district of Kasimierz. Also, don't miss the amazing UNESCO site, Wieliczka Salt Mine.
