About this property

Self Catering Villa in Molyvos With Private Pool and Sea View

Molyvos Manor is a three bedroom home with a spacious living-room, large kitchen and dining room and two full bathrooms (one on each floor).

Two of the bedrooms are located on the upper floor and are accessible through an internal staircase. These rooms enjoy 12 foot + ceilings, while the third, ground-floor bedroom, is self-contained with its own hall doors keeping it and its bathroom separate from the living-room and kitchen areas.

Most alluring of Molyvos Manors features is its veranda with views on the beautiful Molyvos bay and the large swimming pool patio overlooking the harbour and the Aegean Sea.

Molyvos Manor is located a two minute walk from the harbour and its restaurants and about ten minutes from Molyvos main beach. Ten leisurely minutes on Molyvos cobble streets will take you to the village bakery and the main market as well as pharmacies and the local medical centre. Around twenty minutes (slightly more at a leisurely pace) will bring you to the villages medieval castle. All in all Molyvos Manor is ideally located for the person seeking relaxation in proximity to Molyvos active social life.

Impeccable location, old world charm and first class style
Visiting this home is a richer experience than merely looking at the photographs of it. The description is modest compared to the lovely experience I had. There was an abundance of clean towels, sheets, etc. and I received replacement clean towels over my stay here. The location of this home could not have been more perfect, just a few steps from the small port in Molyvos and its charming restaurants and gift shops. The mornings and afternoons were spent either in our private pool enjoying the cool sea breeze or sipping a glass of wine overlooking the Aegean. If you like small inspiring details in your vacation home, this is the place for you...From the beautiful ceiling lights, to the drawings and paintings on the walls, it's no wonder I wanted to stay longer. I know how this is the perfect summer home, but, with its corner fireplace and cozy furnishings, I pictured visiting in the winter to watch the rain fall on the shingled rooftops and sea below, while a fire burns in the fireplace. Definitely a place to revisit again and again. This is a home where memories are made.

Stunning
This property was fantastic, the listing description was accurate and the property was very comfortable, the rooms were very spacious. It had every facility we needed, the kitchen was well equipped and we were particularly happy with the washing machine (after two weeks of travel with 6 people)!!! It was also well located right near the port of Molyvos. We had easy access to restaurants by the port and a short walk into the centre of Molyvos. The property was very clean and beautifully maintained. You can tell the owners are very proud of their property and they are easily accessible. We had excellent customer service from the moment I made contact with the owners, thank you Yiannis (he even emailed me a photo outlining in detail the location of my apartment in relation to the apartment that my cousin was staying in...this is very helpful when you have never seen a property before....it really eliminates any confusion or disappointment). I would definately recommend this property to friends and family and would definately stay here again. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!!!

A Wonderfull Property In a Perfect Setting
The Villa was in an ideal location with views to die for! Everything about it was just as described and it was exceptionally clean. Nana and Stratis and family were lovely people and I always feel so much at home in Molyvos I should have been born there! There are many superb Taverna's to choose from and we particularly enjoyed eating around the harbour. To quote 'Arnie' - "I'll be back" !! Nicci for and on behalf of our party!

A wonderful house for vacation in Lesvos!!!!
Molyvos Manor is an excellent place to choose for holidays in Lesvos!!! The house is beautiful, very well equipped and very comfortable for us (4 adults and 3 children of the age of 6,7,8). The Krallis family are really warm and helpful!!! Thank you Mrs Nana, Mr Stratis and Yiannis for your wonderful greek hospitality!!! Molyvos is the place to stay if you want to visit the whole, big island of Lesvos. It is the most picturesque part of Lesvos where you can eat, drink, walk, shop. The island has a pure greek beauty and very warm people. You have to be prepared for 1-2 hours driving for the remarkable destinations of Lesvos but you will not regret! You can always and easily find a nice beach for swimming, good food (fresh fish of course!) and ouzo!!! We really enjoyed Sigri (the petrified forest, the museum, the beach and the taverna), Skala Sykaminias ( with the small church of Panayia Gorgona -for those who read the book of Lesbian writer Stratis Mirivilis the place gives so many emotions!), Agiasos, Mantamado, Petra, Eftalou. I am sure there are much more nice places to visit and I wish we can be back soon for that! In this case Molyvos Manor will be the chosen place to stay!!! The pool was really relaxing after the all-day trips we had!

Home away from home and real Greek hospitality
I had the great pleasure to spend time in October/November 2013 at Molivos Manor. I have spent many happy summer holidays here in this property and I am delighted to have also discovered how nice it is in the off season months. The comfort of the house is excellent and the ambiance is charming, combining a very high standard of facilities with delightful and thoughtful traditional touches. The property is maintained in excellent condition and Mr. and Mrs. Krallis are extremely good hosts who offer that very special touch of hospitality over and above what one can expect from a commercial property. The property has been the family home and it retains this essential character. I would have no hesitation recommending both the property and the town, with its lovely heritage architecture to anyone who is looking for the Greek island experience with a real difference.

About the host

While not having roots as deep as olive oil production in Lesvos, the Krallis family can be found in Molyvos as early as the late seventeen hundreds. By the late nineteenth century they were part of a small circle of Greek and Turkish families involved in representing Molyvos to the Ottoman authorities and essentially running the village. The interesting blend of Greek identity with active participation in the Ottoman empires social and economic life can be seen in the folk art decorating the walls of the Krallis Mansion - currently in the stewardship of the Athens School of Arts - where images of Alexander the great stand opposed to whirling dervishes and depictions of Istanbul, the imperial center towards which Molyvos and more generally the Island of Lesvos were directed.

After the incorporation of the Island in the Greek state in 1912 the family retained its prominent position in the village. In the mid-1920s Ioannes Krallis, father of the current owner of Molyvos Manor, built the power generator for Molyvos electric lighting. The little electricity factory close to the harbor provided the village with electricity till the late 50s when Molyvos became part of Lesvos grid. Still, the second world war and family deaths led the Krallis family to Athens in the late 40s. Today Stratis and Nana spend six months a year in Molyvos and the rest of their time at their home in Athens. Their sons Dimitris and Yiannis live in Vancouver, BC and Athens.

Why they chose this property

Molyvos Manor is part (half) of a large home built in 1926 by Ioannes Krallis after his wedding to Maritsa Kalligeris to house their family.

The house was never truly lived-in since the premature death of Ioannes led Maritsa back to her family in the village of Sykamnia. In the years that followed it was occupied by the Germans (during WW II), the communist guerillas, the army, and earthquake victims.

Only in the mid-eighties was it divided among Ioannes’ two sons Stratis and Nikos, and renovated. Stratis and his family lived in it for roughly 7 summers until they moved to a newer house in the middle of an olive grove in the village environs.

Since 1994 the Stratis part of the house, now called Molyvos Manor, has seen numerous guests, many returning year after year, choosing this unique spot for their vacations.
