Central Edinburgh has so many historical and fascinating places to explore and it can all be done by foot from our property. Infact we advise leaving the car at home! New Town Edinburgh is a fabulous base whether visiting for the Edinburgh Festival or any other of the many other events held during the year. Open top bus rides, escorted walks, shopping and so much more can start from our doorstep. Head to nearby Leith to step on board the Royal Yacht Britannia or walk up The Mound into the Old Town along the Royal Mile leading to Edinburgh Castle - in time for the One O’clock gun. Guests are also very close to the many theatres, concert halls (including the Theatre Royal and The Usher Hall) and cinemas Edinburgh has to offer. For those seeking peace and tranquility there are nearby magnificent museums and galleries (including the Scottish and National Portrait Galleries) and the famous Botanic Gardens. Stockbridge with its antique shops, second-hand bookstores, vibrant cafe, bar and bistro atmosphere is a short walk away and it is here you can take a walk along the Water of Leith. We can provide our guests with lots of information on exploring Edinburgh City Centre and beyond and of course the many places to eat whether for lunch or an evening out. About Lynn Lambert

Edinburgh is not only my home town but also where I was married many years ago and we have many friends and family members living in and around the city. We have two grown up daughters who are now based in London but they try to visit Edinburgh when they can. Although we live in Norfolk, England we have excellent housekeepers (actually an aunt and uncle) who enjoy looking after our apartment and our guests. We are experienced property renters and owners and our homes are well cared for and maintained to an extremely high standard. So whether you are family, friends or new or returning guests everyone is assured of a warm welcome.

Why Lynn Lambert chose New Town

We came across our apartment a couple of years ago during one of our many visits to Edinburgh. It was for sale in a 'needs modernisation and updating' state and just around the corner from where we had our very first apartment when we were married in 1979. Being able to retrace our footsteps around Edinburgh - a great city that we love - is very special. We set about upgrading it but keeping all the wonderful Georgian details. Sadly, due to other commitments, we dont use it as much as we used to and therefore are very happy to now share it with our guests, family and friends. Its location and facilities are second to none enabling everyone who visits to relax in a gorgeous, huge apartment for the price of a small, bland hotel room.

What makes this apartment unique

Our apartment is so spacious - the entrance hall gives you the feeling of stepping into a grand Georgian country house. We love the period details, the high ceilings and looking out into Georgian Edinburgh from the front room and doorstep. We have been able to modernise and upgrade in a sensitive way. Its location, so close to all that Edinburgh City Centre has to offer, is also a huge plus and there are also so many great restaurants and pubs nearby to suit all budgets.

Even better than the pictures

All of the glowing reviews are true, it is certainly the best place I have ever stayed. What doesn't really come across from the photos is the size of the apartment. How often do you see pictures that make places look bigger and better than they are? In the case of India Street, the opposite applies.
We went to Edinburgh to see the fringe, on entering the front door my wife announced that she wouldn't mind not going to some shows, she would be perfectly happy staying in.
I'm sure we will be back, and for longer, I think it will need two weeks to check out all of the eating & drinking establishments in Stockbridge alone.
Beautiful place, and a huge credit to Lynn & Stephen.

Owner's Response: How wonderful...you felt like staying in the apartment rather than going out to enjoy the Edinburgh Fringe! We know guests like yourselves really do enjoy the space and size and many comment on the huge hall with stone flagstones - like stepping into a castle they say! It is not a castle of course but we are thrilled when guests love the space and make themselves at home so they may enjoy what the city has to offer. Do please come back and explore more of Edinburgh and include Stockbridge - there are so many places to eat well and all nearby. Although Edinburgh always seems busy there are other times of the year to enjoy it - spring bulbs, autumn colour or even "Edinburgh's Christmas Market"! In the meantime, thanks so much for your very kind comments and its lovely to know you enjoyed your visit.

Perfection (there are no other words).

There are so many positive things to say about this wonderful place. The only hard part is figuring out where to start!

The location is out of this world; perfectly set on a picturesque quiet side street, but only a five minute walk to the heart of the action. There are beautiful parks surrounding the property. Simply breathtaking.

The apartment itself is the nicest condo/flat my husband and I have ever rented (and this includes fancy-pants boutique hotels that cost twice the price). Everything is perfect: the ridiculously comfortable bed, the amazingly decorated sitting rooms (yeah, I said rooms), the clean, fresh washrooms (there are TWO!), the designer kitchen. Out of this world.

But better than all that is the attention to detail by the owners. The flat is designer decorated but is comfortable; you feel at home as soon as you open the front door. They provide you with a 'started pack' so you don't have to rush out as soon as you arrive (genius idea on their part). They are available if you have questions. I emailed the owners to inquire about a North American converter for the electrical outlet. She indicated they didn't have one, but emailed me back within minutes to let me know where I could purchase one (the shop was less than a couple blocks from the flat), provided the price for the converter, the address of the store and the telephone number.

Simply the best customer service ever. I am in awe.

Beautiful Apartment!

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in June. This apartment is amazing, truly the nicest rental apartment I have ever stayed in! The pictures on here do not do it justice. It was very comfortable, so nice to relax in after a long day of sightseeing. I have already recommended this place to some friends.



When you stay here, make sure to go to Leo's Beanery for coffee and breakfast!

Pure luxury

From the moment we entered the grand hallway I knew we had picked a winner, this apartment is pure luxury. The design, layout and furnishing are all five star plus. I would rate this apartment way above any five star boutique hotel. Also the location is perfect in a quiet safe street five minute walk from Princess street and a few minute from Stockbridge which is full of fabulous restaurants, independent shops and patisseries. I would recommend you go to the Sunday market in Stockbridge, Scranton and Scallie restaurant and also Florians patisserie. I would highly recommend this apartment to you, you will not find nicer. Finally thank you to Lynne who made booking so easy and the very generous grocery starter pack, wine and whiskey . I have had the nicest weekend in Edinburgh and I know it is down to the beautiful, comfortable apartment.

Stayed during the British Open 2013

Beautiful apartment in a fantastic location. Walking distance to all major sights, easy to hail a taxi if needed. We stayed during the British Open 2013 and had a wonderful time. Only negative, when we arrived Edinburgh was experiencing a hot weather spell and the first two nights were almost unbearable for sleeping because there is no air conditioning - normally, air conditioning is rarely needed in Edinburgh - we just arrived during a heat wave! We went searching for a fan, all of the stores were sold out of fans due to the high demand. The weather turned for the better, we were able to sleep.The owners were amazing with their information and hospitality, we went to many of the places and restaurants they recommended. We loved the city and the people, will absolutely return!

Great apartment and area

Faultless apartment. What you see is what you get plus friendly and helpful service. Stockbridge is ideal for shopping and going out if you want to avoid the centre of Edinburgh itself. The Sunday morning market (from 10am) is ideal to pick up croissants and such. We enjoyed excellent meals at nearby Cafe Fish and Scran & Scallie. The info pack in the apartment has details. Nice touch was that all the TVs were the same brand and hence had the same controls. This typifies the thought that has gone into this apartment.
