Or you can simply luxuriate in the private setting of the solar-heated 20-by-40-foot pool. The villa is defined by exquisite craftsmanship, including teak flooring, staircase, doors and windows throughout. The house sits on almost 4 acres of lovingly landscaped gardens and lawns, featuring tropical flowering vines, mango and other fruit trees. This exquisite home features a large gourmet kitchen with a six-burner rangetop, wall oven, Sub-Zero refrigerator and separate drinks fridge. Electricity is 120 V and you will never be without power, thanks to the auto-start backup generator. The villa boasts four large bedrooms, including two master suites - making it a perfect holiday rental for several families/couples!

'Nevis Nice' - the very apt slogan that you can see on many a car number plate on the island! Nevis is a relaxed and friendly island, just six miles long by six miles wide, with approximately 12,000 inhabitants. With a temperate climate all year around, Nevis offers you cool breezes, lovely beaches and exotic flowers. Outdoor activities include snorkeling, diving, various water sports, cycling and hiking - forest and mountain walks offer an amazing glimpse into Nevis' natural heritage! Historic plantation houses, museums and elegant hotels offer a glimpse into the island's rich history. There is an eclectic choice of restaurants, from upscale to distinctly local, or you can choose to unwind at one of the many colourful beach bars. If you want wild nightlife and casinos, Nevis is not for you. But if you keep your ear to the ground, you can find out where to catch Steel Drum, Dancehall, String Band, Ska, Reggae, Calypso or Soca beats...

Getting there: Fly to Antigua with British Airways (www.ba.com), or Virgin (www.virgin-atlantic) then with LIAT (www.liatairline.com) to Nevis.

Fly to St Maarten with KLM (www.klm.com) then with Winair (www.fly-winair.com/) to Nevis.

Fly to St. Kitts with American Airlines (www.aa.com). Direct flights every Sunday and Wednesday, and on other days via Puerto Rico and/or Miami. Then by ferry, SeaBridge or water taxi to Nevis.

Nevis History: Nevis, famed as the Queen of the Caribees in the 18th century, is now a witness to history through the various plantation houses that dot the island - some have been transformed into elegant inns that offer fine dining, such as Golden Rock Plantation Inn, Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, and Montpelier Plantation Inn. The Hermitage Plantation Inn is one of the oldest hotels, with its Great House having been built in 1700. History enthusiasts will be interested to know that Alexander Hamilton, the 1st Secretary of the United States Treasury, was born in Charlestown in 1789. Admiral Horatio Nelson married Frances 'Fanny' Nisbet, a young widow from a Nevis plantation family, at Montpelier Estate on 11 March 1787. The marriage was registered at Fig Tree Church in St John's Parish. Other historic sites include: Indian Castle, Bath Hotel and Spring House, Alexander Hamilton House (museum), New River Estate, Cottle Church, and Montravers Great House.

Born in New York, I have lived in New Orleans, the Caribbean, France, and England. I have lived in Kenya since 1987 and made it my home. I have 25 years' working experience in the cultural heritage sector in Africa. Having travelled widely in Africa, Europe and the Caribbean, I enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

Lorna Louisa purchased this villa in 1984

Mango Corners is a family home, my parents having bought the property in 1984, and almost entirely rebuilt the original house in the 90s. Both my parents passed away in 2010, and the house is now being maintained by my sister, who lives in Canada, and myself, resident in Kenya. Our parents divided their time between Nevis and New York until their deaths, and Nevis retains a special place in our hearts.

The house is a perfect place to stay and enjoy some time on Nevis. It sleeps 8 in (extreme) comfort, is very well equipped for an easy stay and has beautifully kept gardens (and you can enjoy lovely views from the first floor balconies). Hire a car and get round to seeing as much of the isalnd as you can. Wish we could have stayed longer.

A wonderful house in a wonderful setting!

We feel so lucky to have found this wonderful property to rent for our vacation. It is very spacious, with very large bedrooms and good sized kitchen and lounge - with large double doors which open to provide a great view of the patio and pool area in the very large garden and of St Kitts in the distance. The owner Lorna was very friendly and extremely helpful in advising on transport, shopping and some great local restaurants. She even arranged to leave a welcome pack and some beers in the fridge for us. It would have been better to have air conditioning in the bedrooms, but the ceiling fans work pretty well so this was not a major issue. I would definitely recommend the property to anyone looking for a spacious property in large grounds with stunning views and very good restaurants nearby.
Owner's Response: We were thrilled that this family enjoyed the holiday at our home, and we're glad that the lack of a/c was successfully mitigated by the trade winds and ceiling fans. This group was respectful and conscientious, and we would happily welcome them back for repeat visits.

Absolutely fantastic property

Mango Corners is an absolutely stunning vacation home, it's extremely roomy and very private. The location is practical, with easy access to Charlestown, golfing and diving, yet well off the main road and very quiet. The garden ... well, park ... is really big, and as an added benefit, we had the occasional monkey visit in the far end of it. Views from Mango Corners are stunning -- especially at sunset -- with direct views of The Narrows, St Kitts and towards west, the Caribbean Sea.

We all agreed that we couldn't possibly have found a better place for our stay, and we'd happily be back again.

The practical arrangements with Lorna went very smooth.

If you're planning a trip to Nevis, and Mango Corners is available, you shouldn't even consider going elsewhere. Highly recommended.
Owner's Response: We are so happy that yet another family was able to enjoy our home and its tranquil surroundings. They were perfect guests and we would gladly have them for a return visit.

Wonderful Caribbean Villa

We stayed at this villa in March and enjoyed it immensely. This villa is very large with a wrap around veranda both upstairs and down. The pool is also huge and a great place to cool off in the afternoon. The kitchen is large and well equipped. Each of the four bedrooms has its own full bath which is very convenient, plus there is a half bath poolside. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with many trees and flowers. Once in awhile, we would see a monkey in one of the trees near the house. The house is conveniently located off the main road near Oualie Beach. This makes traveling to town, beaches, and good restaurants easy. The Gallipot restaurant is only about 1/4 mile away and Oualie Beach Hotel is about a 1/2 mile away. Crishi Beach is also a very short drive as is the Sea Bridge Ferry. I would definitely recommend this villa! It was a lovely spot for a tropical vacation.
Owner's Response: We are thrilled that Sally and her family enjoyed their stay at our home, and that the property and neighbourhood lived up to their expectations. We look forward to welcoming them again on a repeat visit.

Fantastic house for holidays

I spent a fabulous vacation home in Lorna's house in Nevis. The Mango Grove Villa is a spacious, luxurious and very comfortable villa. It has a beautiful garden and a view of the sea and the mountains. It is just paradise for holidays with family or friends. The island of Nevis is nearby St. Martin and St. Kitts in the Caribbean, with regular air and sea connections. People are very welcoming and the food is good.
The Villa Lorna is a peaceful place which has a very large pool where you can take a midnight swim. This house has all the amenities (and more) to spend wonderful holidays.

Mango Corners is located just three miles from V.A. International Airport on Nevis, and one mile from the convenient SeaBridge car ferry, for those arriving on flights to St Kitts. Panoramic views of the Caribbean and nearby St. Kitts are visible from this serene and elegant West Indian villa.

Enjoy being just minutes away from popular beaches (Lover's Beach, Oualie Beach, Pinney's Beach); bars (Rumours, Sunshine's, Chevy's, Lime) and restaurants (Oualie Beach Hotel, Gallipot, Pizza Beach, Seafood Madness). The Four Season resort, with its 18-hole golf course, is also a short drive away. For any last minute groceries, stop into nearby Mansa's at Cades Bay (don't miss the BBQ on Fridays and traditional 'goat water' on Saturdays). There are cookouts in almost every village on Friday and Saturday nights; the biggest and best starts Fridays at 5 pm at the Water Department on Pump Road, near Charlestown. Music, cold beers, BBQ chicken and pork ribs!

Golf: Four Seasons Resort's Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course on Nevis provides a dramatic view of the Resort, the Caribbean and the neighbouring island of St. Kitts (19 hole golf course, Pro shop, Golf instruction available, Driving range, Putting green, Clubs rental).
