Beautiful one bed in wonderful zone one location. WiFi, phone calls, many extras

This large and light flat takes up half of the first (not ground!) floor of a wonderful historically-important (listed) building dating back to 1877, the schoolhouse for St George's German Lutheran Church (slightly older as it was built the century before!). It has vast ceiling height and stunning huge original windows so that flat is flooded with light. There is a good-sized bedroom with a king-size bed, large fitted wardrobe and chest-of-drawers. The main room is large with a comfortable leather sofa and a stylish sofa bed, contemporary glass coffee and lamp tables and a large glass table and chairs seating up to six.

There is no lift and the stone stairs are worn from centuries of use so, regretfully, this flat is not suitable for people with any mobility problems. It is very suitable for a couple or a small group of friends who want to be within walking distance of the Tower, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Shoreditch and just around the corner from a zone one tube.

An excellent experience

The flat was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Practically every need of the visitor was anticipated. It is also nice to be picked up at the airport and brought to the flat.
The location is excellent with a number of supermarkets, large and small, quite close by. The tube station is around the corner and one can walk to a number of attractions.
The most important thing is the effort the owner makes to make the stay pleasant. Small touches such as a waiting oyster card, milk in the frig, abundance of towels, detailed explanations of the amenities in the flat and nearby, make life easy.
The stay was enjoyable and I will recommend it to friends and come back again.

A lovely flat in a perfect location

I booked this flat for my girlfriend for her to stay in whilst she was in London. She loved it so much that she wants to come back for a longer stay there. It is in a very central location yet tucked away so the flat itself is nice and quiet. Although only 1 bedroom it feels light and airy with high ceilings and large windows. It's close to a number of tube stations and there are a number of "local" supermarkets nearby. In short, a great flat in a great location.

Construction noise was bothersome

The apartment itself was clean and adequate and bed comfortable. The Meet and Greet service was very helpful and made getting from Heathrow to this apartment easy. After our 8 hour flight we were ready to shower before exploring the city and a bit surprised that there was no soap left for renters so we went out shopping first. We did not find the apartment very comfortable mostly because of the construction noise right across the street. The workers started promptly at 8am with buzz saws, hammers, and yelling to one another, including on Sat. Everyone is impacted differently by things and this was irritating to us. This did make us get up and hurry out but we would have preferred to be more leisurely as this was the start of our vacation. If you want to be close to the Tower and don't mind construction noise or have good ear plugs, then this apartment might work for you.

Owner's Response: I am afraid that these people were difficult to please from the beginning of their booking procedure. We state clearly on the reply that there was construction work (it has virtually finished now) and we gave these guests a very good rate. There most certainly is very posh liquid soap left on the bathroom basin in all of our flats.

The construction work has had minimal impact on our other guests so far but perhaps they were doing something particularly loud during their stay. The owner lives in the same building and keeps a very close eye on the work, making sure that they do not start early or finish late, and she tells me that there is very little work going on now. Actually the road is closed to traffic so it much quieter than a zone one street would normally be. Perhaps email me and ask the progress of the work at the moment?

These people seemed to not like the flat either but if you see our other reviews you will see that it is a beautiful, spotless, characterful flat in zone one and all our other guests have appreciated the little touches. I am pleased to say that, in my ten years of being a holiday let manager, virtually all the people I 'meet' are charming and respectful. Just not all of them! Please ignore the tiny minority of people who like to moan and see the rest of our reviews. Kind wishes from England, Elizabeth

Perfect location, comfortable and secure.

Perfect flat to stay for my husband and my two kids aged 14 &12. The location is fantastic and the neighborhood is very peaceful and safe. Grocery stores very close by. The flat is really comfortable for a family of 4, great bathroom. The meet and greet service is recommended.
Elizabeth was very helpful with us and provided us a good customer service .
We highly recommend this flat to anyone.

We were delighted to find the flat was exactly as described. The "Meet & Greet " service was very much appreciated and also the free WIFI made communication very easy. The great location was evident as it was only a 5 minutes walk to Aldgate East underground station. The flat is comfortable and the bathroom is a good size.
The manager was very helpful and the owner had made sure that there were things ready for us when we arrived.

Nothing Short of Perfect

My wife and I stayed for three days and WOW!!! Immaculate and spotless to start and so inviting. The location was great. Two minutes walk to the tube and ten minutes walk to the Tower. The area was quiet,safe and secure. Walking distance for groceries. Elizabeth was a gem to work with and made sure everything was in order. The meet and greet service added to the value tremendously. Overall a wonderful stay and would recommend this flat to anyone. What seemed almost to good to be true exceeded all of our expectations!

  • The bathroom has a full-sized bath with a shower attachment and shower screen so bathing or showering are available (this might be news to some of our American friends but some flats simply do not have the capacity for a shower). There is a large mirror which has 'frosted' over time so currently gives off a very flattering image! but this will be replaced in the near future.

    Living Room - 1 Sofa bed/Futon , This small double sofabed is suitable for two small children
  • The bedroom has a very high ceiling, a huge window and a lovely feeling of light and space. There is a king-sized bed with a top-drawer mattress and good quality bed linen and towels. The fitted wardrobe has a compact dryer in the bottom and a large space above for empty suitcases or there is a cupboard in the hall to keep that trendy minimal loft look! A retro chest of drawers provides very useful storage for your smalls and there is also a shelf behind the bed for a useful lamp and (provided) guide books to plan your next day's adventures.
