Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Camps Bay - Shell Cottage
Stylish 4 bedroom (all en suite) house in an exquisite secret garden with pool
One of Camps Bay’s original homes, Shell Cottage has been totally revamped into a superstylish four bedroom holiday house whilst still retaining its 'bohemian chic' beach-style character.
It is set right in the heart of the village, just one road back from the trendy buzz of the promenade...but step through your front gate and you'll find yourself in a secret haven of peace and tranquility, hidden away from the world. Timber boardwalks meander for 50m through the lushest garden imaginable filled with hibiscus, lavender and all sorts of flowers and scents. Floating timber decks overhung by a giant Persian Lilac tree are surrounded by views of the Twelve Apostles and Lions Head mountains.
Shell Cottage is very different from many of the ultra-modern steel, glass and concrete properties on the Atlantic Seaboard, as it offers a lovely sense of privacy and space. Most people say that they immediately feel at peace, and at home, in this stylishly architecturally renovated gem, filled with beauty inside and out.
More about the house: Shell Cottage is a home that has been created with a lot of care and attention to detail, giving it real soul. A top architectural designer has renovated it into a superstylish home whilst retaining its beach cottage feel. Equipped to to the highest standard, it offers everything an international traveller may need in a self catering property, including wi-fi, satellite television, excellent security. It houses a collection of original art, quality furniture and many special pieces lovingly collected over time. Beds are dressed with white pure cotton linen and oversized soft cushion. The garden has many hidden treasures: there's a reflection pool guarded by a serene stone buddah, mosaiced stepping stones, crystals hidden amongst the foliage and, for the little ones to play on, a lifesize wooden sheep named Ma-aaa-ary!
Though fairly compact, the property feels spacious and airy as it enjoys a wonderful flow from outside to inside, and the care and attention to detail is evident. The lounge opens up completely onto the generous patio and pool deck, which overlooks the garden.
Each of the bedrooms is unique and stylishly designed, and all open either onto the garden or private courtyards. Each of the en-suite bathrooms has its own unique theme, with an emphasis on nature - sand textures, pebbles, mother-of-pearl, driftwood.
More about the fabulous location: one of the best things about Shell Cottage is its most desirable position - Camps Bay beachfront is very close; less than a 150m stroll from the front door down a palm lined walkway but, despite being so close to the buzz, the cottage suffers no noise due to its secluded panhandle location off The Drive, a quiet residential road.
The local tennis courts and play park are across the road, and within a few minutes’ walk you have access to in excess of 35 restaurants, a number of bars, a library, shops, and all the other amenities that Camps Bay offers.
Shell Cottage is a holiday house that appeals to all ages. Its single level design & enclosed garden suits families with young children or the elderly but its stylish design and great location, just behind the trendy sunset strip and the beach’s great surf break, make it a dream holiday location for a group of friends who want to have a fun holiday.

So close to the beach yet so very private and serene, set in the most beautiful garden with lovely mountain views. Absolutely no traffic noise, very secluded, completely secure. A very happy home.
