The apartment is SW facing and is reached by stairs on the first floor of the building. The apartment is laid out over 2 floors. The ground floor comprises entrance hall with ample storage; separate shower room and separate WC; double bedroom with small double bed; lounge with kitchen and dining area. The upper floor comprises a mezzanine area which doubles as seating area for the TV and sleeping accommodation for 2. There is a further double bedroom on the mezzanine floor.
The kitchen is well- equipped with dishwasher and large larder fridge. There is also a top-loading washer/dryer in the shower room. The mezzanine area has a flat screen TV with DVD player, plus a 'Wii console.' A number of DVD's are provided. There is also a 'Bose' i-pod player in the lounge area and free Wi-Fi internet. Heating is under-floor when temperatures are low with additional and individually controlled electric wall heaters.
The balcony, which gets year-round sun, has commanding views over Chatel towards Linga and also down the Abondance valley.
There is a ski locker and parking is provided via lockable garage which is ideal for bike storage in summer. The apartment is also well located for mountain walks.
We had a fantastic week in Chatel. We were lucky because it was the best week of the holidays for skiing, that’s for sure. But most of all we had a terrific stay in this cosy apartment. It has a beautiful view and although it is small, it has everything you need. We really loved it. If we come back to Chatel we will come back to this place, that’s for sure.
Great place to stay if you're skiing in Châtel. Five minutes walk to the Barbossine lift even carrying skis, or hop on the frequent buses into town. Well appointed apartment with everything you might need, warm, cosy and a great view. Highly recommended and an owner who made things very simple!
This SW facing apartment in Petit Chatel is in a quiet location with little traffic and has breath-taking views over the picturesque farming village of Chatel and down the Abondance valley. It is in the heart of the famous Porte du Soleil ski area which has 650 kilometres of skiing. The apartment is approx 5 minutes walk from the Petit Chatel/Barbossine chairlifts, which give direct access to Super-Chatel, La Chapelle, the Swiss village of Torgon and also to Morgins and the 'Porte du Soleil circuit.' There is also a ski bus stop outside the apartment giving access to Super-Chatel, Linga and Pre la Joux ski lifts. From January 2015, the Super Chatel and Linga ski areas are also connected by chair-lifts as well as by bus.
There are newsagent, bakery, ski hire shops and restaurants in Petit Chatel itself with the main Village of Chatel being a further 15 minute walk. Chatel is also a lively summer resort with ski lift access to the mountain bike and walking trails. Chatel also offers swimming and tennis as well as serving as base for exploring this beautiful region and shore of Lake Geneva. The new indoor pool is now open in winter together with a spa.
Golf: Nearest golf course is Evian les Bains, on the shore of Lake Geneva.
There is also a 'pitch & putt' course in Chatel.
Ski: Chatel is in the heart of the famous Porte du Soleil ski area which has 650 kilometres of piste. The Petit Chatel chairlift, approx 5 minutes walk from the apartment gives access to Super Chatel, La Chapelle and Torgon (Switzerland). You can also continue on the 'Porte du Soleil circuit' via Morgins from Super Chatel. The regular ski bus stops outside the apartment and the bus network serves Linga and Pre la Joux ski areas with quick access from there to Avoriaz and Morzine, plus the Swiss villages of Champoussin, Les Crosets, and Champery.
This network can be accessed by intermediate skiers and there is also plenty of good skiing and off-piste for more advanced skiers. Despite being at 1200m, Chatel seems to enjoy a good snow record and has some North facing slopes supplemented by snow-making.
