About Kevan and Tracey Mills

After living and working in the UK until our mid thirties we moved to Perth, Western Australia where we lived for the next 15 years. After visiting Spain we fell in love with the Andalucia area and its surroundings and came across this beautiful village - Gaucin up in the mountains. The rest speaks for itself ! We will make your stay with us very comfortable and look forward to welcoming you here very soon.

Kevan and Tracey Mills purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Kevan and Tracey Mills chose Gaucin

We love Gaucin because of its history the stunning scenery, the people, and its peaceful location, yet its only a short drive to the beautiful beaches, marinas and nearby historical Ronda, all boasting a great range of bars and restaurants. The area offers something for everyone and is easily accessible with Gibraltar airport being 1 hour away and Malaga airport 1.5 drive hrs away. ( less on the toll road )

What makes Laguneta unique is that you can rent the 5 apartments individually or they can all be rented as a whole by one group of friends or family members to have exclusive use of the complex and pool.

What makes this apartment unique

This secure architect designed property is light and airy with a very pretty courtyard and pool area. Its just a few minutes walk from the centre of Gaucin and its endless tapas bars, restaurants, sightseeing and breathtaking views, Laguneta sits just under the Castillo. (castle ruins) and is well worth the visit if its just for the Spectacular Views. We can shop on your behalf prior to your arrival just forward us a list of your requirements, alternatively we can make a restaurant reservation for you at one of the many local restaurants.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The apartment was just as advertised and provided us with a real home from home during our stay in Gaucin.

A comfortable bed, hot shower, fully equipped kitchen, UK TV and good WiFi meant that we spent most evenings in the apartment enjoying the stunning views from the large balcony.

This was our first time in Gaucin and we would recommend the village and surrounding areas to anyone wanting to enjoy a relaxing holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Although we didn't have a car we were able to explore Gaucin and it's historic sites on foot and the rest of Andalusia is easy to get to by train or bus. We also loved Ronda, Seville ,Granada and Cordoba and Malaga and hope to return to the region in the future.

Tracey and Kevan are great hosts and went out of their way to ensure that we had everything we needed during our stay. There is a detailed welcome pack in the apartment and information on local walks and places of interest.

Excellent value and highly recommended

Beautiful Gaucin

  • 5 of 5

Booked apartment for a weeks holiday on the 4th September with the family. On arrival we were welcomed by Kevan & Tracey who may I add couldn't do enough for you.The apartment in Gaucin is located in a idyllic spot, way up in the mountains with beautiful surroundings/scenery/views etc.The village Gaucin has everything you need from supermarkets, bars & eating houses. What more could you ask for, and may I add very reasonably priced indeed.

This is a must for anyone looking for a relaxing and fun filled holiday.

We will certainly be returning next year and looking forward to it already.

Many thanks for looking after us,see you soon, bless you both

Central location, inspiring views, clean and comfy

  • 4 of 5

Chalk the Sun's tutors and UK students booked several apartments at Laguneta for our annual creative writing course in Gaucin. For a group holiday this was perfect as, in addition to the well-equipped apartments, laundry room and wi-fi, we could use the courtyard and pool area to socialise, enjoy a glass of wine and read our creative work. The views from the terraces are amazing - very inspiring for poets and writers! The apartments are within easy reach of bars, restaurants and supermarkets with lovely walks up to the castle. The local manager was helpful and the place is clean and well cared for. We really appreciated finding some basics such as spices, salt, sugar in the kitchens - very thoughtful. We are returning in September/October 2014 to do more workshops in Gaucin and our students have already booked two Laguneta apartments. We like it here!

The Perfect Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is our fourth visit to these wonderful apartments. Kevan and Tracey are the perfect hosts and cannot do enough to make your stay perfect!

Gaucin is a beautiful village and if you just want to relax and chill then you have everything you need a short walk away, bars, restaurants etc..

The whole complex is kept beautifully clean and tidy as are the apartments.

I would recommend a stay here whether it's for a relaxing break or a base for trips further afield.

Also, yes we will be going back....

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderfully relaxed stay for 6 days in apartment 2. Kevan and Tracey were delightful and the photos don't do it justice. If you are looking for somewhere to chill out and relax, with beautiful views and a spectacular place like Ronda on your door step, this is a great place to stay. Highly recommended. Georgia and Ben.

Even more impressive than the photos

  • 4 of 5

We recently spent 4 days at Laguneta Villas with two teenagers. Tracey and Kevan were spectacular hosts. They enthusiastically provided written and verbal information on restaurants, what to see in the area, and interesting walking paths. Our villa was spotless and appeared almost brand new and had everything that we needed. The courtyard and pool were in excellent condition with some beautiful plants. We appreciated the artistic, decorative touches in the villa. The only negative was that the neighbors had roosters and barking dogs, but from our experience it seems that this is a common problem in more rural parts of Europe and we did quickly learn to just sleep through it. We were very impressed with the number of high-quality restaurants in Gaucin, some of which had incredible views. Four days was certainly not enough here, especially if one wants to visit neighboring towns.

Shame about the nasty emails from the owners!

  • 2 of 5

This review is an honest and truthful review from two people who have travelled the world and stayed in 100's of villas, houses, resorts and just about every other type of accommodation you could think of. We read the other reviews and can only think they stayed in another apartment in Gaucin and not this one. We also read the full description on their web site as well as the other travel sites. All the web sites mentioned a peaceful and relaxing stay. If they think screaming kids, many barking dogs, well into the night, cockerels crowing early morning and at night is peaceful and relaxing then I have no idea on what peaceful and relaxing is. The apartment we first stayed in was fine and catered for most of our needs. The pool area is about postage stamp size and could never cope if apartments were full. 4 or 5 sunbeds cramped into a small area where the sun does not reach till way past midday is not ideal. You have to fight to get a parking space as there is no off street parking and drive around hunting down a space to park. Very few cars have not had bangs or scratches on them due to the very narrow streets that a car can just about drive into. The view from Apartments 3 and 2 is very nice but again there is no sun till late morning. The main issues started when we had to move into apartment 1. This is more like a dungeon than an apartment. There is no view, apart from, the court yard, very little sun in the morning or in the evening which makes it dark and more like a cell than an apartment. Coming to the main issue. When we moved our belongings into apartment 1 we noticed the fridge was full of beers and other stuff. We thought the previous guests had left it in the fridge and the owners left it for us. We moved some beers and lemon cans out of the fridge and moved some frozen food down to the bottom shelf in order to freeze some ice cubes. The freezer is very small and just about big enough to fit an ice cube tray into. During the evening we received an email which can only be described as nasty and vicious! The owners sent us a nasty email telling us the contents of the fridge were theirs and we had over stepped the mark along with other nasty words that upset us. They accused us of emptying their fridge. This was totally untrue as we only moved a few cans of beers and some lemon cans. After the emails we felt like prisoners in a prison and they were our guards! That day we moved out four days early. We will not be staying there again!

Owner's Response: This review is totally unfair and untrue of the events that happened. We have only ever had praise from all our guests that have stayed here as you will see from all our other reviews that have been posted. Apartments 2,3,4,5 offer fabulous views (Apt 3 being the best). Apt 1 is on the ground floor but has a private patio leading into our pretty courtyard. It is not dull nor like a dungeon, please refer to our photograph of apt 1 it is very spacious, light and bright. The pool is not postage stamp sized as you will see from our pictures, we have 8 sunbeds and a table setting for 4. The guests had been informed when booking for 2 weeks that Apt 3 was not available for their entire stay as it was booked, but we could offer them Apt 1 on the ground floor which they were more than happy to take. On 2 occasions these guests asked if we could place the new guests into Apt 1 so they could remain in Apt 3. The guest has failed to mention we gave the key to Apt 1 on Monday to enable them to move their clothes out of Apt 3, (they did actually request the key from Sunday), they were due to move out of Apt 3 Tues morning. This is a case of a guest wanting to occupy 2 apartments. There were drinks and food in the fridge and freezer, this was going to be taken out Monday evening. The loan of the key a day earlier was just to place clothes as they were actually staying in Apt 3 Monday night. It should not have been a case of emptying the fridge of Apt 1 completely and taking out the frozen food and letting it defrost just to put in 2 ice cube trays. Why would you want 2 fridges when all your food is in Apt 3 fridge that you were staying in that night? As to the the size of the fridge/freezer, they are 138 litres. You cannot occupy 2 Apt's, officially Apt 1 was theirs Tuesday morning. Our email was neither nasty or vicious, we just asked why they had taken the food and drink out to which the reply was 'we thought it was someone else's and we were going to 'chuck' it anyway', we replied that it was up to us as Owners to clear and remove items from fridges. As gaucin is a mountain village you do get Cockerel's crowing in the morning, this is 'Spanish life'. The guests admitted that they loved the beach and had made a mistake of booking so high up in the mountains and having to travel 30min each day to the coast. As for a child crying, that is babies, however, we have since made the complex for adults only. Kevan and Tracey - Owners
