About Joanna Nobile
Joanna comes from Yorkshire in the UK, has an Italian husband & a young son, who has grown up in Bagni di Lucca. She adores this area, visiting the beaches, local festivals & walking in the summer to skiing in the winter. There is always something to do as a family & here we are often spoilt for choice!
Joanna Nobile purchased this farmhouse in 2009
Why Joanna Nobile chose Bagni di Lucca
We spent months looking for our perfect home a small house for the family & then we found our farmhouse & fell in love. A two storey stone building dating back over 250 years, with over 25 acres of land. It was a wreck & came complete with abandoned cow stalls that even had the names of the cows still above the milking stations! We loved the spectacular mountain views, dotted with quaint Tuscan hill villages, the peaceful location & the pretty town of Bagni di Lucca. Many of the original features remained from its cotto ceilings, stone floors, chestnut beams, stone door frames & old farm machinery. We set about lovingly restoring it into a luxury home, after two years the house was finally renovated, furniture purchased, pool finished, our 400 olive trees, saffron and truffle groves planted, as well as the many garden areas around the house where you will find fruits, herbs and nut trees. We all now speak fluent Italian & feel very privileged to have our own corner of Tuscany our little piece of paradise!
What makes this farmhouse unique
Apart from the stunning natural beauty & tranquility of the area, staying here will give you a real Italian experience. The farmhouse is one large property with a 2 bed apartment within it, making it perfect for multiple family groups or those wanting a little extra space!. This is not an area of mass tourism. Most of our neighbours in the village don't speak much English, yet it doesnt stop them giving you a friendly wave and shouting Ciao as you walk by. You will see them busy throughout the year, tending their vegetable gardens, collecting their fruits, making wine & olive oil, picking mushrooms and stacking wood in their wood piles ready for the winter. Everything here revolves around the family & more often around food! There are many great local restaurants, food festivals, pizzatas & cafes to try, with authentic & reasonably priced food. It is difficult to decide which one to go to sometimes! On the other hand, barbecuing lazily on the terraces with a few beers or a bottle of wine, popping in for a dip in the pool & soaking up the lovely views, isn't a bad option either!
