Elegant, modern and very bright these three apartments offer its guests a very comfortable stay with all the modern comfort you may need and a new, impeccable, beautiful modern furniture with also some pieces which reflect our local traditions. In the past the building was a horse stable of a palace belonged to a noble family. That's the reason we choose three famous horses to name them. The building is located just in front of Lucca's Wall at the end of Piazza Santa Maria. After several years of a neglected state, has been recently and completely restored and the owners have designed three beautiful apartments. Two of them have a terrace. Tornese and Varenne share a huge terrace but each apartment has its own privated spaces divided from the other by plants and flowers. Ribot does not have a terrace but it offer a lovely living room with a french door open onto a small balcony overlooking the city's walls. From here you can enjoy a gorgeous sunset . All the three apartments have air conditioning, WiFi, dishwasher, bikes. They all share a laundry room on the ground with washing machine and dryer, ironing board and iron.

The three apartments lye on the first level above the street which means only 16 steps from the street.

About Debora Del Sonno

Hi, this is Debora from Lucca.

The first thing you have to know is that I am not the Owner but the Property Manager. I was born in Lucca 45 years ago and have been living here ever since... I think I will stay in Lucca for ever.. Travel a lot but always return.. Lucca is home for me. After a degree in business and economics and a long experience in my family company (coffee industry), I'm now happily running my Agency named LuccaHolidayHomes - I am an estate agent, I rent apartments, country-houses and villas in Lucca and it's surrounding area, with a special attention towards the historical center, within the beautiful city's walls.

It is very important you to know that I personally select all my properties, I choose the right one after a long process.. I sleep in the property a couple of nights, I cook in the kitchen, I read newspaper in the living room.. and use bathrooms. But the result it is exciting: I'm very proud of my wide range of unique and self-catered properties, which I think are perfect for a great and comfortable stay...

What makes this apartment unique

In my personal opinion, this is something close to the 'perfection'

well furnished, well appointed, bright, few steps from everything, parking on site… bikes, dryer… wifi, air co… everything you may need.. and right in front of the access to the promenaded on top of the city's walls..

but the most important detail is the attention and the care given to the the details by the owners while restoring the property.

the Parking on Site can be considered a real luxury. Don t forget this is inside Lucca's Walls where the traffic is restricted.

Warm welcome on arrival & plenty of information given about the apartment & area. Fabulous accommodation & good location. If visiting Lucca again, would definitely stay here & recommend it to friends. Debora could not have been more helpful - nothing was too much trouble.

Some positives but many negatives as well

This apartment has both very positive & negative aspects. It enjoys a wonderful location situated a block inside the northern gate of the old city, a short walk from the main street. The old city wall is out the front door with an easy path up to the outstanding outer wall. The agent has assembled an excellent booklet of information. There is great fast WiFi service! The owners provide bottled water, olive oil, toilet paper, & paper towels. The apartment terrace is lovely but shared with the apartment next door. The skimpy bushes separating the shared spaces could be enhanced by evergreens increasing privacy of sight if not sound. The downstairs bath is not en suite. We felt the apartment was not outfitted for long stays particularly if you want to cook several times per week even though the agent said some people held cooking classes there!?! It needed considerable rearrangement & some additional items to make it work. After some negotiation we obtained some of what we needed, some we purchased & some we did without. We finally were given plastic containers to hold leftover food, a larger Moka, garbage pails (you must separate 5 kinds of garbage but there were only 2 pails in the whole apartment), & juice glasses. The agent complained that the owner had spent 100 euros (= approx. 4 euros/day of our rental & all items remained in the apartment). The electric range was a problem particularly when the pots and pans are not appropriate to work with the cooktop – & those provided were not; there is only a microwave of low wattage – no oven; the refrigerator freezer door barely closes. The ancient stone sink has difficulty emptying & the old stone stove vent is so low that my husband bumped his head painfully many times before he finally trained himself to bend down before approaching! The large upstairs bedroom has no door & opens right from the stairs (sounds are clear). The washer/dryer, down a long flight of stairs, is shared. A delicious restaurant resides on ground floor. People eat & smoke outside 6 days a week. The smoke comes directly up into the open windows of the two bedrooms above. Also the lovely Italians talk & laugh very loudly until midnight or 1 AM. So, if you don’t like smoke &/or you like to go to sleep early & you like your windows open, this is not the apartment for you! The cushions on the sofa-bed in the living room keep sliding out making sitting uncomfortable. You can tell this is not an owner-renter direct apartment.

Lucca, Via della Cavallerizza 7 - a few steps from everything you may need and may want to sightsee. The access ramp to the promenade on the top of the city walls is just in front of the building. Piazza Santa Maria just behind the corner and it offers the a nice cafe for breakfast in the morning, vegetable store (my favourite ), ice cream, yoghurt, cheese store, groceries … The beautiful san Frediano Square is only 50 metres away…. and all the other major sites like Piazza Anfiteatro, Palazzo Pfanner, Piazza san Michele, The guinig Tower can be reached with a short 10 minute walking.
