Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Harrogate - Briardene

A 4-star self-catering rental with garden close to all amenities

Our charming and renovated cottage (2008) VisitEngland 4-star is situated in Pateley Bridge, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and provides a great base for the spa (you have got to try it) town of Harrogate and the Dales. It is situated in a small quiet hamlet, where you can walk from the door out onto the hills or to local bakers and butchers providing local produce, and pubs/restaurants to suit all pockets.

The living room with leather furniture has a wood burning stove, ideal for cosy winter evenings. Wifi schedules for November 2014. The cottage garden (to be revamped Winter 2014) has a fantastic view beyond the Nidderdale show ground and has outdoor furniture for dining during those sunny evenings. The modern fully equipped kitchen with range cooker and granite worktop will allow you to exercise the Jamie Oliver within.

There are two double bedrooms, (one with ensuite) and one bedroom with two single beds and also a family bathroom with bath/shower.

Our cottage combines romance, the great outdoors, fantastic sight seeing and the opportunity to unwind in friendly surroundings.

Sorry STRICTLY NO PETS AND NO SMOKING.

Gorgeous cottage in the Dales

  • 5 out of 5
I stayed at this beautiful little cottage in May. Gill made the process very easy and the cottage was exactly as described. Loved the decor, it was all beautifully made up. The kitchen was a cooks dream, everything I needed to enjoy my stay. The gentleman next door was very friendly and I met his lovely old cat. Highly recommend this gorgeous little cottage in the lovely village of Pately Bridge. As an Australian, this place ticked all of the boxes, including a shower that wasn't over a bath-tub! I would stay here again in a heart-beat.

Holiday rental #84913

  • 5 out of 5
Agree with everything said by the previous two reviews - a comfortable, well-maintained and convenient cottage that was the ideal base for an extremely pleasant holiday in the Dales. Plenty room for three of us but I could see how it might get a little cramped with five or six people in the cottage.

All our dealings with the owners were dealt with promptly and courteously, including an unforeseen midweek call-out to repair a breakage! Mention should also be made of the extremely friendly next-door neighbour who was only too happy to offer helpful advice on choice of days out, local restaurants, pubs, etc.

Pately Bridge really is an ideal location for a walking holiday, as there must be about a dozen different (and handily circular) routes available from the village of varying length and difficulty. All that you would need - except perhaps a DIY superstore for unexpected breakages - is located within the village within 10-15 mins walking distance via a moderately steep hill, but we did find it useful to have a car to explore the likes of Harrogate, Skipton and York on the rainy days. Allow yourself plenty of time to get there though on those winding Dales roads - took us approximately an hour to reach the A1 near York.

Recommendations for local activities would be the wide selection of walking routes available from the doorstep of the cottage, and a visit to the spectacular rock formations at Brimham Rocks. Best local pubs/eateries probably the Sportsmans Arms at Wath (a reasonably flat two-mile walk away if you want to work up an appetite) and Olleys Pizzeria (10 mins walk).

Would certainly recommend to friends, and be happy to rebook if we were holidaying again in the area.

Superb holiday cottage

  • 5 out of 5
What a pleasure to use a cottage which was really well looked after, spotlessly clean, well-equipped, in a great location and let by a lady who behaves professionally in every respect. We had a fantastic time here; the village was beautiful and we found it an excellent base for horse riding, exploring the Dales, Harrogate and the surrounding area.
It was very handy having an excellent children's park 10 minutes walk away in the village as well as a wide rage of eateries and shops. The property itself had really comfortable beds, excellent quality fittings and it was nice to have safe on-road parking and spectacular views.
It really couldn't have been better. Thank you!

Lovely cottage in fab surroundings

  • 5 out of 5
We had a lovely fortnight’s family holiday at this property. It is exactly as portrayed in the owner’s description – ideally located with both plenty of different walks in the Area of Outstanding Beauty and a good variety of shops & catering establishments etc right “on the doorstep”. The cottage has been beautifully and sympathetically restored and is very tastefully furnished and fitted out. It is spotlessly clean and well decorated. There is plenty of space indoors – although the single bedroom (which can become a twin/double) is probably too small for two unrelated adults as the beds are very close together (the owner alerted us to this when we booked). Although the small flower-filled garden is unsuitable for children to play in (the green area in the photo is actually part of a neighbouring property), there is a fantastic-looking children’s playground nearby.
The picturesque hamlet in which the cottage is located is very friendly. The small town, which is within walking distance, caters well for tourists whilst retaining its authentic Yorkshire Dales character.
Further afield, Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough and York are all well worth visiting and not far to drive – or take the bus. We also enjoyed the guided tours around the two breweries at Masham.
We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely cottage – and would be delighted to stay there again ourselves.
