Newly converted annex with own entrance, within a short walk of the restaurants, shops and railway station of the village of Stansted Mountfitchet.
When you enter the property, there is a hall and kitchenette area and a door leading to the newly installed bathroom. Up a short flight of wooden stairs is the door into the bedroom/sitting room.
The sleeping area has a king size bed, and two bedside tables. There are three windows in the room but they all have black-out blinds and the windows have secondary double glazing to ensure a quiet, peaceful nights sleep.
The lounge area has a large flat screen Freesat TV, a chest of drawers, two comfortable armchairs, a coffee table and two full length clothes cupboards.
Tea, coffee, sugar, milk, fruit, fruit juices, butter, preserves, muesli, cornflakes and bread supplies will be in the kitchenette for you to have breakfast and refreshments at your convenience.
The property is equipped with smoke detectors and a fire extinguisher
Parking is available at no additional charge on our drive outside the property.
Please note that there is no sink in the kitchenette area, so dirty plates etc are collected and replaced daily.
The property was just what we needed, it was lovely and clean and had just what was needed. We drove down to visit our daughter for the weekend and it turned out she stayed just round the corner. The location was ideal and to get parking to was a plus, would definetely stay again and recommned it to others too.
We stayed at Potash Cottage for a month while in the UK visiting family and have nothing but good things to say about the place and the owners. Everything needed to make our stay comfortable was provided, and more. There is car parking on site which is a real bonus, and the railway station is only a few minutes walk away. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the village - The Yeoman Cafe is excellent for lunch and is also licensed. Mount Fitchet Castle is well worth a visit as is the windmill and large church. The people in the village were very friendly and after a few days we felt like locals. Bill and Susan did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable so we will definitely be returning when we are next over there.
We stayed at the apartment whilst visiting family in Finchingfield. The owner is very helpful and friendly, stocking up the fridge with items for breakfast, and providing tea, butter, milk, jam and coffee.
The apartment has a spacious bathroom, living and sleeping area all very clean and decorated tastefully.
There is no kitchen which the owner advised us in advance however there are amenities to prepare a non-cooked breakfast, light lunch and drinks. There is a also a microwave.
We will definitely stay again when visiting family as we had a lovely time in the apartment and it is close to family, local attractions etc.
A very cosy and comfortable little cottage set in a village where everyone still says hello, yet only 35 minutes by rail from inner London. Has all amenities you would need and is close to pubs (we liked "The Cock"), supermarkets and a very friendly coffee shop on the High Street. Stansted Windmill is well worth a visit and climbing the four flights of steps up to the sails gives a good surrounding view, if you have a head for heights.
This is a very comfortable little apartment, with more space than expected in the bedroom/living room. Clean and everything provided. The owner is very helpful but not intrusive and we had a lovely selection for breakfast.
The Castle is a short walk away and well worth a visit as is the windmill.
I would definitely recommend a stay in this apartment.
Excellent Location, excellent host
This is my second stay at this apartment and I intend to stay again when work brings me to this area. The apartment is located in a quite back street and in a secluded corner of Stansted Mountfitchet.
The description on this site does not do justice to how nice this place is or the locale in which it sits. Within walking distance are numerous restaurants and take away along with opportunities to sight see in this lovely area; there is a castle and a windmill among the sights within walking distance. A train station is a short distance away and London and Cambridge are a short train ride away. I find it ideally situated for Train, Stansted airport and sight seeing.
The apartment is delightful with plenty of room for two people to relax.
upstairs is a studio with bed and seating area, TV and cupboards are also in adequate provision. Downstairs is a lovely bathroom with all conveniences and a small kitchen area with kettle, coffee maker, microwave and fridge/freezer. All of this is sufficient for a good comfortable stay.
The hosts will cater to every need and start well by asking what you would like provisioned in the fridge for Breakfast, they follow this up by appropriate cleaning as necessary.
This is a clean, well presented suite for one or two people and I will be staying here again when I can.
We are situated in the Norman village of Stansted Mountfitchet. The village has several pubs, wine bars, restaurants, take away and shops within a five minute walk of the house. There is a lovely Park and Recreation ground about two hundred yards from the property. The village has some interesting sights, including a Norman castle, Toy museum, an impressive Windmill, and a lovely Arts and Crafts church.
The Railway Station is about 500 yards from the house with frequent trains to London and Cambridge. There is also a train that stops at Stansted airport every 30-60 minutes. We are not on the flight path so it is generally free of aircraft noise.
There are plenty of lovely walks & places to visit in the area and the town of Bishops Stortford with cinema and more extensive shopping options, is about a five minute drive away.
Stansted Airport is only a ten minute drive from the house either by country lanes or via the A120. We are a five minute drive from Junction 8 on the M11
Golf: 18 hole golf course at MuchHadham only 10km away and a 9 hole golf course in Elsenham 5km away.
