Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Ostuni - eighteenth-century house

detached house 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms

Looking for a beautiful and welcoming house? Intimate, and not noisy, at the same time in the city center? This will certainly meet your expectations. It is a perfectly restored eighteenth-century historical detached house, on the first floor there is the living room, the day bathroom, a closet, the kitchen and the dining room. In the living room, lit by a glass door with balcony, there is a comfortable sofa bed. The access to the second floor is by wooden stairs; here you will find an intimate twin bedroom, with two windows looking out to the municipal gardens; a WC; a bedroom with single bed. The floor is made with stone and wood, doors and windows are made of wood. Like all historical houses it is very cool in summer. The house is provided with gas central heating, all the facilities, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, linen, and wi-fi on request. Placed in a little square paved in stone, and in an intimate position, the house is at the same time in the central area of the town. The owner is a tourist guide and can give you tips on where to go to have holidays close to art, nature, rural areas, away from the beaten tracks, close to local culture.

PERFECT PLACE IN PUGLIA!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful stay, highlighted by this very charming home. You couldn't ask for a better location, right in the city center, yet off the main street so plenty of peace and quiet.

The house is lovely, with so many authentic features, from the vaulted ceilings, wood floors, delightful and comfortable decor. We enjoyed the fullly equipped kitchen by cooking local delicacies every day.

There are small and large food shops, bars, restaurants all within walking distance for every taste and budget.

There is a not to miss weekly market on Saturday, as good as any I have ever seen anywhere in Italy.

There are so many great things to mention, but most of all, our most lovely host, Marina.

She went out of her way to not only outfit the property with EVERYTHING you could possibly need and more,

but was a wealth of information and ideas for things to do in the area. She is a sublime host, taking time

to assure a most memorable experience. She speaks with such authority and pride and taught us alot about this very special part of Italy. As a licensed tour guide and with her husband an outstanding organic olive oil

producer, staying here gives you a distinct advantage over other rentals that may not have such knowledgable and passionate hosts.

Our last day we were also treated to a visit to some ancient olive trees that left us breathless.

There are so many things that made this trip so memorable, we would recommend this property to everyone

that wants to explore beautiful Puglia and to have fond memories that make you want to go back as soon as possible.

Notre séjour à Ostuni

  • 5 of 5

So Much Better Than the Pictures

  • 5 of 5

If you've managed to discover Ostuni and Puglia, you're already ahead, but I'm sure by choosing to stay in Marina's wonderful apartment, you've just guaranteed yourself a perfect holiday.

The apartment is as all the other reviews have stated; it's just a few minutes walk from the main square, it's immaculately clean, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, there's air conditioning, a cute little kitchen to cook your own meals if you wish and the rooftop terrace will allow you plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine and sounds of the city.

But there's something to this apartment that the pictures will never be able to illustrate. It has such a great feel to it. The moment you walk in the shiny, green door and climb the steps up to the first level, it feels like a home. And after enduring what was probably a very long day of travel to get there, that feeling is a welcome relief.

Marina is a terrific hostess, very knowledegable of the local area and sights and as everyone else has also said, she makes amazing olive oil which you can buy and take home with you at the end of your trip.

If you're thinking of a holiday in Puglia, Ostuni is a great place to base yourself. Situated about an hour from Brindisi and half an hour from Bari airports, it's an easy drive to many other towns like Martina Franca, Lecce, Cisternino, Otranto and Monopoli. You certainly won't run out of day trip possibilities. It's not so simple without a car, but you can get the local shuttle to the train station (about 2km's down the hill) and then catch a train to many towns along the coast.

I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Marina's apartment to anyone. It was just what I needed for a chilled out week in a beautiful part of the world.

Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I visited the beautiful town of Ostuni for the second time.

Firstly I would say that the pictures do not do this house justice. It is far better. The house is set in a quite cobbled street minutes away from the town square which boasts, bars, restaurants, post office, cash machine, fish shop, butchers, everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

The house became our ' home' for 10 days thanks to the lovely Marina, who went above and beyond to help make our stay so enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for a better hostess.

Having arrived a day early due to flight availability, Marina arranged for us to stay on an Olive farm for 1 night ( featured last week on Gino's travels around Italy) Marina met us and took us to the farm and arranged to meet us the following day to take to the house.

The 3 terraces each give views of the old town and sea.

The house was immaculately clean and well equipped.it is obviously loved and cared for. An abundance of linen and towels. We used the washing machine which was a god send.

Without exception the restaurants are lovely. Look for the sign 'osteria' which guarenteed authentic regional cooking.

We actually ate in most evenings.

I would suggest that if you wished to venture further afield a car is a must.

There is a large supermarket " simply" a short distance away, great fish, meet and veg counter.

Ostuni in September reverts from a tourist destination to a wonderful italian retreat. Little or no English is spoken which adds to it's charm.

Overall, we have stayed in many houses across the entire Italy and this would rate as one of the best, with the most charming hostess and family ever!

Thank you Marina and your lovely. family.

Correction to my previous review

  • 5 of 5

I realized that I did not accurately describe the sleeping situation! There is a double bedroom (pictured), a pull-out couch in the main room (also a double), and a single pull out mattress in a small room on the top floor by the door that leads out to the great rooftop area. There are 3 different sleeping areas in all!

Great place in Ostuni!

  • 4 of 5

Marina is a great host! When she found out we were interested in olive oil, she showed us around some of the old growth olive groves and gave us the history of the region. We also got to sample some of her oil (yum!)!. She had good restaurant and sights recommendations. The place is as pictured and spotlessly clean. There is only one bedroom as well as a pull out couch-both of which were comfortable. The bathroom is a combo bathroom/shower. It is a cute, small place, and in a great location. We loved Ostuni and it is a great base for exploring the region. Plus it has a great gelato place, Amado Mio, so what more could you ask for?

Localization in Ostuni is definitely preferred, since this is one of the most beautiful tourist areas of Apulia, rich in archaeological sites, castles, cathedrals, trulli and farms, olive groves, monuments, nature reserves, caves, cliffs and beaches, and day trips allow to know the most beautiful places in Valle d'Itria and the Salento, in fact, less than an hour away you can reach Alberobello, Caves of Castellana, Cisternino, Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Lecce and Otranto, Oria and Grottaglie the Safari Park of Fasano.

Other Activities: hiking in nature.
