The cottage has been equipped to a high standard and has a private south facing terrace and large garden. Just a few minutes away from the picturesque port of St. Malo and the medieval town of Dinan, we are ideally placed for the perfect family holiday or short break to France.

The cottage was completely renovated for 2011 with new, high quality, fixtures, fittings and furnishings. Underfloor heating has also been installed in both the lounge and kitchen.

Local family attractions: A selection of activities in Brittany for all the family.

Zoo Bourbansais and Chateau - Along with the lions, giraffes, tigers and other animals the zoo has a children’s play area, gardens and a 16th century château with guided visits.

Pirate’s Maze - Four huge mazes cut into corn fields.

Site seeing: Mont St Michel - A Benedictine abbey, built on rocks amongst sandbanks. Narrow streets wind their way up to a fantastic church with great views over the bay.

Dinan - Cobbled streets and medieval houses are a main feature of the old part of Dinan. Take a walk down the very steep Rue Jerzual to the Port de Dinan alongside the River Rance.

Every two years the town celebrates it medieval past with a pageant, the Fête des Remparts, and locals dress up in period costume.

St Malo - St Malo is famous for it’s walled town and nautical history from the middle ages to the Second World war. Visiting the Fort National provides great views of the city and at low tide you can visit the island of Petit Bé.

During WWII, the underground bunkers at the Fort of Aleth were extended and now houses the 39-45 memorial. Guided visits available.

Fort La Latte and Cap Fréhal have the most magnificent the views, which makes both attractions well worth the visit.

Golf: There are over 20 golf courses in Brittany, offering a variety of parkland or links styles with courses both inland and on the coast.

Dinard Golf Course - Dinard Golf Club is the second oldest course in France, and was founded by a small colony of British residents living in Dinard at the end of the 19th century. Tom Dunn, the Scottish architect, completed the course in 1887.

Lancieux Golf Course - Friendly 9 hole pitch and putt links course on the coast. No handicap certificate required, so ideal for a quick round.

Saint-Cast le Guildo Golf Course - This beautiful course runs alongside Pen-Guen beach. The back 9 offers some breathtaking views of the sea. Even though it is one of the shorter courses there are a number of challenging holes.

A Fine Christmas in Ploubalay

5 out of 5
Review Submitted: 28 December 2011 Date of Stay: December 2011
My friends and I arrived at the tiny Dinard airport, and fifteen minutes later were cosily installed in the lovely cottage at Ploubalay, where complementary wine awaited us. A regular visitor to Brittany, this is one of the best gites I've found - clean, modern, and finished to a very high standard. Ian had even provided a Christmas tree! Best of all, it's so close to the beautiful beaches of this unspoilt coastline. When we weren't out walking, Dinan's really close, with all the shopping and restaurants it offers. we had a great time, and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone as a great place to holiday - but don't book when I'm coming again! See you in the summer Ian!
Owner's Response: Hello Amanda, I'm glad you all had a nice time. In the summer you could explore St Malo, which is also close, and has great shopping and restaurants. Look forward to seeing you all again.
Ian.

My daughter, husband, children and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this delightful cottage. It was bigger than expected and we couldn't believe how nice it was. Very clean, well maintained and all the equipment we could possibly need for our stay.

Great holiday location

Review Submitted: 04 November 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We had a great time in this pocket of Brittany. Loved the gite – very homely and comfortable for us. Good location to explore the area, with lots of beaches and other attractions within shouting distance. Very relaxing and Ian and Debbie most welcoming and helpful – many thanks ! Will be sure to tell our friends.
