Kefalonia, the fifth in size, among appr. 3000 islands in Greece.
This means, no less than 1 week needed, for a complete round.
Simatos apartments being located in the centre, admit an easier access to each point of the island
First of all, you certainly start with the best of the island, which really is Makris Gialos white sandy beach, (2 minutes walk), with the crystal, clear water and the sport activities ( award winning).
As well as, the Saint Gerasimos cave on the Lassi hill , where he stayed for only few years, before he moved to the foot of Ainos and built a monastery.
By the way, Lassi is a wide hilly area, considered to be Argostoli suburb, which is extended to a 3,5 km length, along the coastline, embracing a number of tiny beaches and the outstanding long and wide enough beach of Makris and Platis Gialos, which are well known, for the unique white sand and the amazing see bottom colouirs.
In the town of Argostoli, ( 3 km away), there are the Archeological and the Folk museum, with enough exhibits from the oldest life of the island.
All the coast and bay around Argostoli, including lake round, is a wonderful walking distance, with a few cafe and restaurants, in front of the see water!.
Argostoli, is located on a hilly peninsula, with nice houses built on the hillside, which composes an unforgettable scenic scenery, especially while viewed, from the .opposite hillside of the lake.
As long as, you really desire to explore the whole island, rent a car, or hire a taxi, or catch the bus and keep on going to one of the 3 different directions, the northern- which requires at least 2 days trip- the Souith and the West side one.
All the South Kefalonia is full of nice beaches, one by one, Ammes, Minies, Avithos, Spartia, Pesada, Karavados, Trapezaki, Lourdas, Ratzakli and before Poros, the Scala village and its beach with nice small pebbles. very wide and long, but quickly deep( as the only disantvantage) beach.
On the North, in my opinion the most beutifull side of the island, Mellisani lake and Drogarati caves in the Karavomilos village, close to Sami town, are the most excellent places to visit first.
At the same village, see water which originates from Argostoli, via underground streams, under the island, is led inside a natural small lake with ducks and fish, before entering the see.
Drive northern and reach the superb beach of Myrtos beach.
The great view from the top of the road, is unforgettable and ideally for fans of super photos.
Next and very close, 2-3 km away you get to the very cute coastal tranquil village Assos, with the Venetian castle.and the houses built almost inside the seewater.
Fiscardo is globally famous, this traditional picturesque village, with the wonderful bay, where yachts and fishing boats, are anchored..
On the bay of Ag. Efimia, also lies the nice homonymous coastal village, with good restaurants adn cafe, in front of the fishing boats and yachts.
In the distance between this village and Sami there are plenty of avalons for swimming with crystal cold water and pebbles.
Antisamos beach , few km from Sami is one of the best.
Agrilia Monastery is climbed on the top of a hill outside of Sami, on the way to Antisamos, devoted to the Virgin Mary, is a small Paradise copy.
Mountain Ainos, is famous for the black spruces 1650 appr. metres hight. On the foot of the mountain and a bit outside of the village Valsamata, there is the peaceful monastery of Saint Gerasimos, with nuns and the relic of the Saint.
From the other side of the mountain , in the area of Scala and Poros, there is the monastery of Argilia, where you can possibly see the famous white horses, drinking water from the sources.
Lixouri, has the very nice Petani, Xi and Platia ammos beaches, as the most known. As well as, the Monasteri Kipouria, with just a monk and an amazing view to the pelagos.
After all that, i trust, you will be enough emotionally strong, to take the scheduled plane back at home.
