Charming farmhouse situated on the private working estate La Almuña. Nestled in the hills between the picturesque ´white villages´of Jimena de la Frontera and Gaucin. The farmhouse offers newly refurbished comfortable, light and airy accommodation for up to 16 people. An ideal family house. Spectacular views are had from house and terrace across the straits of Gibraltar to North Africa. The rooms brim with traditional cortijo character.

The beamed high-ceilinged sitting room with its huge hearth offers relaxation at the end of the day. Read one of the many books or relax with a film. The rooms are arranged off the central cobbled courtyard which brims with citrus trees, roses and hibiscus. The spacious farmhouse stone terrace offers ample seating in sun or shade. Behind the mature cypress hedge lies the swimming pool with palms to shade under and a cabana. 3 min. walk along the farm track lies the tennis court. The farmhouse has stables from which riding can be arranged.

The farmhouse is set on 200 acres of private landing yet only 10 min. from Gaucin with its many tapas bars, restaurants and amenities. It offers wonderful peaceful accommodation, walking, riding and birdwatching. The natural park Los Alcornocales is only 10min. away. Take scenic drives through the ´white villages´of the Serrania de Ronda. Historic Ronda with its spectacular gorge, gourmet restaurants and Roman bullring is only 30 min. away. Great beaches are only 40 min. away on the Mediterranean Coast or the wild white surfing sands of Costa de la Luz are,90 min. drive. Wonderful caves to explore locally and fiestas and ferias to enjoy. Try the local wines at a Gaucin Bodega or travel to Jerez for its famous Sherry bodegas and Spanish horses. A wonderful base to explore the Moorish hilltop villages or enjoy the glitz and glamour of Marbella. Take in some polo in Sotogrande and some golf at Valderrama or just sit back and enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of La Almuña.

We recently stayed at Diana´s beautiful home for a long weekend with 2 other couples (who had both stayed there previously) and it was just as previous reviewers have said. Diana (and her two lovely dogs) greeted us with drinks and we were left to relax. That was easy to do! It is the most incredibly peaceful place to stay. Diana cooked us fabulous dinners and prepared a lovely salad lunch for us before we left on Sunday. We made full use of her lovely pool and even found time for walking and sightseeing (the Algeciras to Granada train is a must) get on At San Pablo and get off at Benaojan when you can enjoy a relaxing lunch at Molino del Santo Hotel, before returning to La Almuna for one of Diana´s gastronomic dinners. One tip - as there is no ambient light, the night skies are absolutely amazing. We can´t wait to return. Thank you Diana.

Tranquility and beauty in Andalucia

We stayed 15 people (all family - 3 generations) for a week in this stunning dusty pink Hacienda and had the best time! The farmhouse was cosy and homely with lots of space for everyone wether we dined together on the terrace, sun bathed, played in the pool or at the near by tennis court, watched Tour de France or simply wandered off and found a seluded spot for some quiet reading. The place offers beauty (not so easily found at Costa del Sol), tranquility and stunning views of mountains and the sea (all the way to Gibraltrar and Africa). With 6 km to nearby Gaucin (charming little white town) it was easy to shop for food (can recommend the local butcher) or visit one of the many restaurants offering fantastic tappas in the open. If you manage to break away from the serenity of the place (and can lure the kids away from the pool) visit some of the nearby white towns or take a daytrip to Rhonda (which is absolutely worth it). The owner Diana was very helpful - she gave us complete privacy but helped us when needed.

Fabulous Family Holiday House

We have just returned from 9 days at La Almuna. We were a family of 13 aged 1 to 72 there to celebrate my wife's birthday - and The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, which we were able to watch on the television. La Almuna lived up to, indeed exceeded, our expectations, which were high based on friends' experiences and the very helpful advice given by Belinda in the months preceding.

From the moment we arrived with Diana's warm welcome and initial tour of the house we knew we were in for a wonderful holiday. La Almuna was exactly what we sought. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, the kitchen had all we needed, the pool was splendid ( one of our grandsons learned to swim), there was sufficient outside area for us all to gather together but also to seek peace and quiet when needed. The view from the terrace to Gibraltar and Africa was truly stunning. Diana was a source of useful information and provisions - whether it be where to eat locally ( we enjoyed the excellent station restaurant), Ronda, shopping for leather goods in Ubrique and restaurants, tapa bars and supermarkets in Gaucin or frozen food for the children, fresh oranges and lemons from the garden, bread and delicious gazpacho soup. - nothing was too much trouble. One night we enjoyed an excellent paella from Paco - the gardener and anoter had a barbecue.It was well worth while having Ermi the maid in every day.

The quiet and peace of a Almuna ensured we all had a proper holiday - whether it be a rest from the stress of the city, or just to catch up on the reading - and tan.

We count ourselves very fortunate to have experienced La Almuna - we felt we were staying in a friend's house. It was truly memorable holiday for us all. We all are determined to return if possible.

We have recently returned from a magical twelve days staying at La Almuna. My husband and I stayed with our twelve year old daughter and ten year old son and we all loved every minute. The house is a beautiful rustic farmhouse decorated with great taste inside. We loved cooking in the kitchen with incredible views out over the hills and beyond. We had BBQs and relaxed by the pool. The owner Diana, maintained a discrete presence with her two friendly dogs,but was always available for advice and recommended a great restaurant in a nearby village. Diana would also occasionally appear with the most delicious, sweet homegrown figs and peppers.
We enjoyed a few games of early morning tennis on a great court and although we ventured out to the peaceful village of Gaucin to visit the supermarket, we found ourselves scuttling back to this tranquil property as soon as we could. We visited Ronda for one day, The Rock of Gibralter is visible and there are lots of places that one can drive to, to explore. The only way we managed to drag ourselves away was with the promise that we would return next year. The house was immaculately clean with fabulous linen and towels.In addition pool towels were supplied. The pool area is just beautiful and our two children loved it. Within the garden there is alot of space with both shady and sunshine flooded areas which was just perfect. We also had a look round the guest house, which is available for larger groups and this again was very tastefully decorated to an extremely high standard with large bathrooms. La Almuna was an unexpected find, that gave us all a very special holiday and one we have no hesitation in recommending.

Blissful Serenity at Idyllic Farmhouse

We are a family of 4 with 2 small boys. (Our youngest actually turned 6 whilst staying here and Diana went out of her way to organise a cake and small gift for him from herself.)

We are Australians living in Singapore and were eager to explore the Spanish countryside but to try and tear our boys (and probably ourselves in all honesty) away from this little piece of paradise was difficult.

The kids spent their time between the pool, visiting Diana and her 2 dogs, helping the lady who owns 2 horses on the property, climbing trees, exploring and generally being boys.

We managed a few hits on the shared tennis court although being summer it was in high demand amongst the neighbours.

Peace and quiet abounds here and I managed to reacquire my love of reading (after many absent years raising two young boys).

The bed was more like our own (king size ensemble and very comfortable) ensuring relaxing and comfortable mornings spent sleeping in, and children too! This hindered early morning starts to explore the countryside! My husband is a light sleeper and easily awoken by noise but here there is none to speak of.

At Gaucin, the local village 6km away, we sampled 2 nice restaurants and one tapas bar. There are a number of small supermarkets here, but that said, Diana's hospitality was very generous with a fridge stocked of essentials and several deliveries from the property's bountiful crops of fruit and vege. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking here and relaxing on the covered patio area with a bottle of red and watching the sunset.

Ronda, a wonderfully historic town, is approx 40km away and well worth a visit.

We have made numerous bookings with HomeAway properties and could highly recommend this magical spot. I am hoping one day to return either in summer where lounging by the pool is gorgeous, taking in the view or maybe dreamy winter moments spent relaxing in front of a crackling fire soaking up the ambiance of the houses rustic country charm where it's easy to imagine spending the rest of your life away from big city mayhem.

After having another property booked for over a year from HomeAway (no. 418132, which I wish to caution anybody who may consider it, as the owner became greedy and gave our booking away, at the last minute, for a longer booking and am still chasing my deposit) I came upon Diana's property. What a godsend it turned out to be. We are so glad that we had to change venues as it felt like a taste of heaven.

Beautiful Holiday Retreat

We stayed at La Almuna in early July 2011, the house has been sympathetically and beautifully renovated in a very comfortable style. I have honestly never slept in a more comfortable bed. We took the whole farmhouse and shared it between two families (room for 3 families), the views and pool were simply breathtaking. We could not have been better looked after. Diana provided a fantastic yet discrete service so we had all the help we could ask for.

We would all recommend the house and area to our friends and family. We are already hoping to book up a longer stay next year.

Walking Paradise

We took Dianas enchanting home as a base for a walking holiday for a group of 40-something-year-olds in andalucia and it proved to be the perfect combination of location and accommodation.
Diana has clearly done this for a long time and has the knack of allowing us to treat the place like home and so it didnt matter when we arrived or left and we arranged mealtimes to suit the walking itineries. and the food from local ingredients was superb and plentiful without over embelishment. We loved the breakfast (to include cooked) to set us on our way.
Hot water and comfortable beds, stunning views and a swimming pool all made the break ideal for us. With great local short walks as well as a terrific base for exploring the cork oaks and olive trees a little father afield. one day we walked to Gaucin for lunch and returned along the old Smugglers path.
Just right for the airport at malaga and well away from the coastal strip so we could access Ronda , Grazalema and The famous white villages. You dont necessarily need a car as we organised a very good local transport minibus (Diana can put in touch) which made the walking logisitcs all the easier.

The house is arranged around a cobbled courtyard. The main four bedroom house has the main sitting room which comfortably seats 10. The guest house has a smaller seating area with wood burner. The pool will be cleaned regularly. The house has panel central heating in all bedrooms and bathrooms for the cooler months and portable fans are available in the summer. Stables are attached to the property from which riding can be arranged. Tennis rackets can be supplied, with the tennis court a 3 min stroll down the farm track. High chair & cot are available. Cleaning is available at 10 euros an hour A chef, or individual meals/picnics by arrangement.
