This mostly traffic free, seven mile cycling and walking route is based on an old railway line running between Canterbury and Whitstable. It's safe for children and provides a perfect place to picnic along the way in the heart of one of England's oldest forests.

On the eastern side of Herne Bay, you will discover Reculver Towers, the site of a Roman Fort built to guard the Wantsum Channel that once divided Thanet from the rest of Kent. The contrast of the nearby rugged countryside and open seascape makes for a bracing walk along the sea defence wall.

LOVELY LOCATION

Good property as booked at last minute, great to be able to bring dog. Felt kitchen was a bit basic and lacked cooking trays. Smallest bedroom had a very uncomfortable bed, just as well it was only one night. Very helpful gentleman and appreciated the flowers.

FANTASTIC LOCATION, SEA VIEWS

  • 5 out of 5
Fantastic location set between Herne Bay and Whitstable. Stayed with wife and young son for a long weekend. Property looks out onto the sea and is right on the seafront. The weather was fantastic for the weekend we were there which made a real difference. Whitstable is a lovely town with loads of little shops/bars/things to do etc. Hoping to return for another visit next year and would highly recommend a stay here, particularly for people with young children. A lovely get away within driving distance of London and surrounding areas.

PERFECT FOR A RELAXING GETAWAY :-)

  • 5 out of 5
This bungalow was perfect for my relaxing weekend away with the girls, The location was brilliant and the views were beautiful. You walk out of the front door and can see the beach! Very good location. It is also walking distance to the town centre where there are shops, restaurants, cafes etc, everything you need for a nice weekend away! It is also perfect for long walks along the beach, one day we actually walked into Whistable. The garden was a very good size and there was a bbq provided which we made good use of! The bungalow itself was very spacious and cosy, we instantly felt at home. I would definately stay here again!!

LOVELY LOCATION BUT REALLY ONLY SLEEPS 4

  • 3 out of 5
This property is in a lovely location, just a short walk to the sea and has a lovely south facing garden.

The property is only set up to sleep four people. We had booked for six and made this very clear on booking but the correct number of sheets were not left and the under beds had not been made up. Even more frustrating it isn't actually possible to pull out the underbeds with the current arrangement of furniture and size of rooms. We managed to move a side table in one of the single rooms to pull out the underbed. We could not pull out the underbed in the turquoise room due to the wardrobe and shape of the room. My fiancé therefore had to sleep on the sofa.

The property could also have benefited from a set of guidelines.
- how to switch on the hot water.
- where the bins are - there seemed to be no bin and we had to go to a public car park to take away our weekends worth of rubbish.
- where to park etc.

On arrival I had to sweep as this had not been done and the carpet had not been hoovered.

Apart from the sleeping arrangements and niggles this really is a great property in a brilliant location - it is just better suited to four people.

We went for plenty of walks along the coast and used the cottage as a base to visit Margate and Broadstairs.
