Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Wenhaston - Rose Glen

Stylish 2 bedroom cottage with courtyard garden. Children and dog welcome

Don't be fooled by the Victorian exterior! Rose Glen is one of the oldest properties in Wenhaston, with a beautiful oak beamed interior and large inglenook fireplace. This Suffolk holiday cottage is finished to a very high standard and combines traditional features with modern luxuries including a wood burning stove and full central heating (underfloor heating in the garden room), broadband, flat screen TV, DVD player and Freeview.

Awarded 4 STARS and a GOLD Award for exceptional quality of accommodation and customer service by Quality in Tourism

ACCOMMODATION: On the ground floor the spacious living room has an original oak archway through to the kitchen at one side and, at the back, a garden room with a lantern roof light and folding doors onto the courtyard garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and one twin - and a spacious bathroom. There is roadside parking for one car and additional parking nearby.

The property has been upgraded in 2014:

- Kitchen - new oak worktop, sink, hob, cooker and tiling

- Bathroom - new shower and shower screen, heated towel rail and tiling

CHILDREN: Children are welcome at the cottage. A high chair and travel cot can be provided by prior arrangement at an additional cost of £20.

PETS: One well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage. We ask that they stay downstairs (sleeping in the garden room) and keep off the furniture.

WELCOME PACK: Bed linen, towels and tea towels are all provided, with beds made up ready for arrival. We provide a complimentary bottle of wine, biscuits, milk, bread, butter and fresh flowers to welcome you. There are also supplies including tea and coffee. A starter supply of logs for the wood burning stove is provided.

Loved the garden room and garden. Had some super walks with our dog and the weather has been SO kind! Have started to recharge our exhausted batteries. We will be back.

A Perfect Suffolk Hideaway

  • 5 out of 5
This is a really lovely cottage - old, characterful and beautifully maintained - its even better than it looks in the photos. Lots of generous touches from the owner, quality bedding & comfy beds and a lovely bathroom make this a very special place to stay. Plus there's lots of interesting places round and about to visit and lovely Suffolk countryside all around. We'll be back!

Rose Glen Cottage

  • 5 out of 5
MY family had a wonderful stay in Rose Glen cottage. The cottage was presented in impeccable condition and looked even better than it does on the web site. It has been refurbished to an impressively high standard with all the creature comforts and wonderful conservatory to eat in and lovely garden, unfortunately the weather did not permit the use of the garden. The property was spotless with excellent facilities and would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending it to others. There is a lot of attractions surrounding the area and the local pub a few minutes from the cottage served lovely food. There are plenty of great walks in this area and some great national Trust treasures to have a wander around. Customer service was excellent.

Lovely stay

  • 5 out of 5
Stayed for a week in mid september, the cottage is in very good condition and has everything you could wish for available. The woodburning stove is lovely on an evening and the conservatory with its underfloor heating is beautiful to sit in first thing in the morning.
Good walks with the dog from the doorstep and also around surrounding villages. We found Suffolk to be very dog friendly. The local pub, Queens Head at Byford which is a short walk did fantastic food, we ate there three times in the week, they are also dog friendly. The are many lovely shops, pubs and restaurants in nearby Southwold.
Overall great week and would like to return soon.

Perfect cottage getaway

  • 5 out of 5
A quaint, well-equipped, beautiful cottage nestled in a small, quiet village; perfect for a getaway. The property was clean and exceptionally presented; with amenities and local shops a short drive away.

Excellent glamping venue for Latitude

  • 5 out of 5
I spent a lovely weekend at Roseglen for Latitude festival. It is a short drive down the road so perfect for glamping chic!

The conservatory area and garden is perfect for sunbaking and the large fireplace would be wonderful on a cold winter's night.

Will definately be coming back so I can explore the local area more!

5* 'glamping'

5* 'glamping'
  • 5 out of 5
Our weekend stay at Rose Glen was enough to appreciate the wonders of this beautiful cottage. The Owner has a great eye for detail and all the little touches make a big difference. The garden room is a fantastic spot to eat and watch the birds feeding.

We booked the cottage for Latitude festival, and it was perfect. Away from the noise and not affected by the traffic, if you were brave you could walk or cycle back from the festival. A 5 * 'glamping' experience.

We even squeezed in time for a walk around Southwold and it's lovely boutique shops and delis.

Wenhaston is a pretty village located just off the A12 near to the market town of Halesworth and surrounded by open countryside and heaths. ** Southwold's sandy beaches, pier and other facilities (including Adnams brewery) are within easy reach as are Dunwich, Walberswick and the RSPB reserve at Minsmere. ** Aldeburgh and the concert hall at Snape Maltings (home of the Aldeburgh festival) are a short drive away.

There are several golf courses and two riding stables in the area and two pubs within walking distance of the cottage (The Queen's Head at Blyford and The Star at Wenhaston). ** Trains run to Ipswich and London from Halesworth and there is a bus service through the village. ** As well as providing a good base for a beach holiday, the area is popular with birdwatchers, cyclists and walkers and a visit to Woottens nursery is a must for the keen gardener.

Golf: The nearest golf course is Halesworth. There are also courses at Aldeburgh and Southwold and there’s a 9 hole course in the High Lodge complex on the other side of the A12 (where there is also fishing and shooting).

Some of the doorways are quite low so tall people will need to duck!
