Comfortable and Spacious

After a bit of a magical mystery tour we eventually found the house - nothing to do with Paul's directions, just the signposting in Ireland in general. But what we got when we arrived was even better than we expected. Loads of room for everyone (there were 8 of us and a baby) and a really nice house layout. Great to have a house that takes this number of people and has enough chairs for everyone and rooms big enough (not always the case). We met Paul a couple of times and he was helpful and great fun. The location is quiet and it's a 20 min drive or train ride into Dublin, but it's only a 10 min walk to the station. It's a great base to start off from and the Indian take away is good too if you want to stay in at night. There's plenty to see and do in the city over a short stay, especially if you like a drink or two in the evening, it's a party town! We'd definitely recommend the house to anyone who has a large group that needs a base on the outskirts of the city. There is a small garden and Paul mentioned there would be work going on there this coming season, so that will no doubt be another benefit if he pays the same attention to that as he has the house itself. A great stay!

Lovely and Comfortable Home

We were welcomed by the owner and not only did Paul give us a tour of the homes we rented (Sonas and Owls Nest) but he gave us a general orientation to the area, taking us in his car. We were in town for the Penn State football game at Croke Park and found it easy to take the train to Dublin and we enjoyed the area in which we were staying. Walking to the stores for pharmacy, food, and convenience meals was easy. Don't miss Malahide Castle, Malahide, and Howth, while you're there!

Wonderful Vacation Rental

My family and I stayed in the Sonas House for four nights on our recent trip to Ireland. The home is bright, cozy, well decorated, and has all the amenities you could ask for. Upon our arrival, Paul provided us with a quick tour of the place and a few local recommendations, and it was very easy to find nearby places to visit in Portmarnock and Malahide. We drove over to Howth for a day which was lovely, and we took the train down to Dublin another day which was very accessible. We'd definitely stay here again!

Bright and comfortable family house

We rented the house for a family getaway for 4 adults and two young children. The house has a ton of space and lots of storage and was perfect for multi-generational travelers. Our kids could each have a bedroom which cut down on arguing and made bedtime easier. The kitchen is well-equipped for everything and it's really nice to sit and relax in the dining area. The table is large and there are lots of windows, making the most of the unreliable sun!

We also enjoyed the speakers so we could listen to our iPod music anywhere. The kids enjoyed running around in the backyard and the occasional visit from a neighborhood cat. The washing machine was very convenient for laundry and three different bathrooms helped us all get out the door in the morning.

There is a very nice grocery store about a 5 minute drive away, and a little strip mall within walking distance, with a tasty pizza restaurant, barber shop, etc. We drove to the Malahide DART station and took the train into Dublin (we parked at the castle ground parking across the street, as the DART lot was usually full). We also made several excursions into the countryside and up to Belfast, and the house was an excellent home base for the entire area.

We definitely recommend this house!

Wonderful time

We stayed for one week in this lovely house. Our holiday exceeded our expectations. The weather was wonderful. Our whole family got together to spend time with our daughter and husband who live in Dublin which meant that they could bring our grandchildren to visit every day. The house was spacious for 6 adults and 2 children, one a baby of 7 months. The garden was great to sit in after being at the beach or Phoenix Park every day. Our granddaughter loved to dance in the garden which was possible because of the speakers in the garden. The house was in very good condition when we arrived and also when we left. It was a clean, comfortable house with good facilities for cooking as we did every evening. We would certainly recommend this house to others, as it is clean, bright and airy. Portmarnock beach is lovely - we enjoyed the walk to the beach with the children and they loved playing in the sand or flying the kite. It takes about 15-20 minutes to walk to the beach, but well worth it. Malahide is about an hour's walk away but has lovely places to eat. The Pizzeria round the corner has amazing pizzas too. Spacious house for the whole family

We spent a week in Portmarnock with our whole family -- my husband and I, 3 grandparents and our 3 teens/young adults. This house gave us room to spread out. We used all 5 bedrooms (one is very small but worked fine). There are a few steps getting in/out of the house, but our 80-year-old grandma managed fine. Everything was clean and Paul was super friendly and helpful getting our sons in to play a round of golf at one of the nearby courses. Since it's a beach town, this place would be especially lovely in the summer! The ocean is just a short walk away. This house is pretty convenient, close to the airport, a 25 minute DART ride to Dublin, and easy access to any northern site. We are glad we rented a car, though. The DART station and grocery store are 5-10 minutes by car, but a little far for regular walking with so many seniors in our group. Plus a car is just helpful in general in Ireland everywhere but Dublin. We had a wonderful time in Ireland. Thank you Paul for a lovely stay!
