We had a fantastic week staying at the Retreat. The house is well equiped for a family - a home away from home. The house was clean and comfortable. It is within easy walking distance of the city centre and its many attractions. I would recommend this accommodation.

We had a fabulous time in York at half-term. The Retreat is a lovely place to stay ideal for a family and close to all amenities. A bottle of wine was waiting for us on arrival and the house is modern, clean, warm and extremely comfortable. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay at short notice. Kind regards.

Perfect for short stay in York

Completely as described in the listing re location, facilities etc. Location really is perfect for walking into York for visiting all the attractions - even our kids didn't complain!

The house was all very clean and beds made up, with plenty of towels. Lots of information in the booklet re heating, water and wifi password e.t.c.

Nice touches with tea, coffee, milk & champagne left.

Peter the owner provided lots of extra information about what was going on in York whilst we were there which was useful and helpful.

Would definitely recommend the property to friends / family.

We really liked the Jorvik experience (Tesco clubcard vouchers came in handy here) and visiting the Minster (we also did a special evening visit as part of the Lighting Up York event). The Railway museum really worth a visit (although we did have to queue being 1/2 term & a slightly damp day).

There was lots we didn't manage to do but overall an interesting place for a couple of days' visit.

Found a lovely place in a church just next to M & S on The Pavement for a cheap cuppa & lovely homemade cake. It's run by different charities everyday.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind Review. I know that you were looking forward to your visit to York.

You seem to have visited many attractions. We have been going to York for many years and still find things that we haven't seen before.

I am glad that the house and York came up to your expectations and look forward to you visiting again

Regards

Pete

Lovely place to stay

Lovely house, friendly neighbours, and the accomodation was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. High chair and stairgate were welcome, meaning we didn't need to bring our own. Good access to the city of York and nearby attractions, can recommend the Railway museum especially if you have kids as there is always something going on.
Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind Review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The Railway Museum is only 10 minutes walk away and is free (they ask for a donation). Plenty of things to see and do in there.

York, and all its' attractions, is also only a short walk from the house. There is usually something going on in Parliament Street and there are plenty of Street Performers to see.
