Villages & local provencal markets: Fayence and neighbouring villages of Seillans, Callian, Montauroux, each within 2-3 hours walk of each other along marked trails, are perched in hilltops (400 m or 1300 ft above sea level) overlooking a delightful valley which contains the famous glider aerodrome just below Fayence and the exclusive Terre Blanche Golf resort. A short drive up into the mountain from Fayence will bring you to Mons, an old fortified village with its own French/Italian dialect. Aside from the active market place there are always a whole range of activities which are all covered by the local tourist information office which has the schedule of events and activities for Fayence & the surrounding area. Each village has their own weekly market selling wonderful local cheese and meats, fruit, vegetable and provencal goods. There are some very nice local restaraurants in all these villages and of course just a short drive away on the coast some lovely seafood restaurants and others catering to all tastes.
Attractions to explore: The Var embodies all the aspects of Provence with stunning beaches along the coast, rolling countryside containing both small rural farms and majestic vinyards and their chateaux, and extensive easily accessible forests with numerous well marked hiking trails. The hills of the Var rise to become the foothills of the Alps with a number of ski resorts accessible with a couple of hours drive from Fayence. 2 hours drive to the North West is the magnificent Gorges du Verdun - often called Europe's Grand Canyon. To the South the historic resort towns of St Tropez, Ste Maxime, St Raphael and Cannes/Mandelieu are strung from west to east along the magnificent coast - an absolute must is the drive from St Raphael to Cannes along the coast road, not to mention the three corniches in Monte-Carlo. Stunning hilltop villages, where you stumble across tiny restaurants with a menu du jour at unbelievable cheap prices, some of the best food you will ever taste.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Beautifully presented villa. Lovely gardens with gorgeous flowers, lavender etc, lovely smells of southern France, truly wonderful and relaxing. Different cosy areas to sit and eat in. A place for everyone in the family to relax. Plenty of toys for the children, dvd library, great selection of books. Very well located near to lac st Cassien and not far to the beaches. Gorgeous little hilltop villages to explore, fabulous restaurants. Easy access from airport yet the feeling of being away from it all. Would certainly recommend to friends and family. Thanks to Sally the villa manager, so helpful. Go!!

Married with two young children, now a fabulous holiday home, but was our permanent home for a while.
Well located, quiet yet near to all amenities, easy access to road/motorway network to Nice, Cannes, St Raphael, St Tropez. Near the lake which is beautiful and far less crowded than the beaches. Very child friendly with it's beautiful flat garden. Lovely views up to Callian & Montauroux. You feel as if you are in the heart of Provence but with the convenience of the Alpes Maritime.
Air conditioning, totally enclosed, toddler/elderly friendly as all on one floor, plus flat gardens. French windows open onto terraces all around the house, one covered terrace with seating enjoying gorgeous views up to the hillside village of Callian. Another decked terrace perfect for lazy lunches overlooking the pool with views to Callian. Another superb view up to Montauroux outside the studio house, a perfect spot for en early evening aperitif as the sun goes down. We love having all the doors open savouring the gentle breeze with the provencal scents of lavender and rosemary. Truly a fabulously relaxing way to spend the day.
