Tranquil, relaxing, gorgeous, peaceful and perfect
Part of me wants to keep this hidden gem all to myself! But that seems terribly selfish, given that everyone should be given the opportunity to vacation in a place this pristine, perfect and full of pure joy at least once in their travels.
The house itself is just lovely, tucked away up on a hill, overlooking a small, clear fishing bay, nestled amongst an array of flowering plants, palms and green pastures. Since there were only two of us this trip, we stayed in the smaller apartment below the main house. It is even lovelier than even the pictures show, and was perfect for us. With plenty of sun, it boasts a cool air-conditioned bedroom with a large wardrobe and wooden hangers; a wonderful bath with a giant tiled shower and excellent water pressure; and a perfectly appointed kitchen with an ample sized fridge, gas stove, and all the pots, pans, cutlery and dish ware one could want. An intimate living room with comfy reading chairs also has a futon if you wanted or needed an extra bed.... And the four-person kitchen table was perfect if you ever wanted to eat inside. Leading out to the patio are large wooden doors that we kept open for most of the day, to bring in the sunshine, fresh air and a view of the garden.... And I don't think we once had a single bug! We did however, have myriad bird sightings, as well as a variety of friendly geckos and plump frogs - especially common after the nightly rains.
The grounds are lovely, private and lush...an outdoor eating area with a BBQ, small sink and prep area are perfect for dinners.... And the small pool is perfect for a dip in between chapters of whatever book you're enthralled in whole lounging on deck. Since we had the place to ourselves, we had the good fortune to enjoy the view from the upper deck. Padded Adirondack chairs and footrests line its length, so you can relax in the shade as you gaze out into the bay. (Although Ryan favored the oversize hammock for his naps). From here, you will see the dock bustling with activity when the fishermen come in, listen to the nearby school children practice their steel drums, and take in the gentle rhythm of country life: cows grazing, dogs playing, the chickens chasing each other about, laundry being hung out, and the locals chatting, laughing and fishing. Lesley prepared us wonderfully for our trip, setting up arrangements for everything prior to our arrival. We can't say enough good things about this lovely home and hope to be back before too long!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much Anne for writing such an in-depth review - it is so lovely to share our home with such appreciative guests and you have captured the essence of the house, gardens and local surrounds perfectly. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
