Basic Apartment, Convenient to East End/Greenwich
My husband and I stayed in the apartment located one block from the Brockley Overground station. Buses 171 and 172 were also convenient for traveling to several underground stations when the Overground was closed for refurbishment.
The apartment was easy to find because the manager sent good directions prior to our visit. The pictures accurately depict the layout of the apartment. The apartment is small but contains all the items we needed for our eight-day visit. Tea, milk, and biscuits were waiting in the kitchen for us. A nice touch.
The bedroom has space for the comfortable bed. The foam pillows were flat and not comfortable for us. The bedding included a fitted sheet and pillowcases, no flat sheet.
The bathroom was roomy and had a powerful shower with hot water. Only one set of towels is provided per person (Wash cloth, Bath Towel, Hand Towel). The kitchen was set up with all the utensils, pans, and dishes we needed. The fridge was large, and the microwave worked great. The washer/dryer manual had good directions for using the appliance. We were able to pack light and do our laundry. Washing/drying a load of clothes took about 3 hours. Two drying racks are available for items to hang dry.
The thermostat was easy to use and the apartment warmed quickly when we turned the heat on.
The apartment had no hangers in the closet. The shelves in the living room were okay for holding clothes, but there's no back and items fell behind the shelves.
The two of us had enough space for our stay, but the space would be cramped with four. We had two friends stop one day, and we were practically sitting on each other.
Near the overground station, we stopped for a snack at the Brockley Barge. It was a nice place. We visited with a local man who said there weren't many good restaurants in the area.
Owner's Response: This is a BUDGET flat. These people paid a very small amount and then, after arrival, tried to add two more guests! There most certainly were hangers in the closet and how many towels do they think they will get in an hotel let alone the hostel which their payment would have got them?
There was no flat sheet because it was a duvet so no need for a flat sheet! Some people simply cannot get their head around the fact that things are done differently out of their own country.
Drying does take a long time in a washer-dryer in Europe for example.
I am astounded by the amount of positives in this review but the low star rating, and very disappointed in these guests who needed a lot of help from me but have not mentioned that. In general very bad-mannered and ungracious people and they will most certainly not be welcome back unlike virtually every other guests we have had in this flat.
