We stayed at the the apartment in Baia da Luz in September 2013 for a week’s break in the sunshine and can only praise the place we stayed in.
We flew into Faro airport and hired a car and drove to the town of Luz, it was a pleasant drive and took roughly an hour or so. When we arrived at the resort we simply went to reception and collected the keys to the apartment .
The apartment itself was lovely and spacious with 2 bedrooms , 2 full-size bathrooms and one being en-suite (As it was just my husband and I, we loved having a bathroom each). Both the bedrooms opened up to a back yard area which was nice to catch the last of the days sunshine with a nice cold beer.
The lounge / living area was well laid out and had a nice dining table as well as a couches and a TV for relaxing on after a hard day at the beach. The Kitchen was a good size and had all the appliances, i.e Washing machine, dishwasher, Large fridge freezer.
Both the Lounge and Kitchen open up onto the front patio area which has more than enough room for the BBQ , sun loungers and table with seating for six.
The apartment is fully air-conditioned and it also has metal black out blinds which are great when you want a lie in in the mornings.
The resort itself was nice, quiet and very well maintained with very helpful staff, It has 2 full-size pools and a kiddies pool, tennis courts, poolside bar, kids area and a restaurant which also does takeaway. We had takeout once and ate in the restaurant, we found the staff were all so friendly and very attentive and spoke excellent English. ( which helped as we spoke no Portuguese). The town center was about another 10 minute walk and there are numerous restaurants , bars and supermarkets. The whole time we were there we did not have a bad meal and ate out each night and every time at a different place. (There are leaflets and recommendations in the drawers in the lounge of the apartment).
The local beach at Luz was about a 5 minute walk from the villa and had all amenities you could need, from shops, bars restaurants as well as tour operators and information on day excursions. As we had the car for the week we were there, we were able to pop into Lagos ( 15 minute drive) and wander round the Old Town as well as the Marina where you can book on a Dolphin Tour, we had never seen so many dolphins in one area before, it was truly amazing, this is a MUST.
All in all it was fantastic
