My wife and I spent a wonderful week at the Villa Grecale and we highly recommend it. The building itself is very nice, comfortable, and clean. The outdoor area is tiled all around the house making it very nice for walking around, even in bare feet. There is an outdoor shower as well as two showers indoors, but we ended up using the outdoor shower most of the time because it is simply delightful. The views from the villa are splendid, and we spent quite a lot of time relaxing with a book or over a meal looking out over the village of Scopello, the Zingaro Nature Reserve, the Mediterranean, and the old tuna fishery. As the villa is up on the side of the hill, the views really are dramatic, plus if it is hot in the town, it is relatively cool and comfortable at the villa.
Part of the experience here is the village of Scopello, a lovely old village with terrific coffee bars, fine restaurants, and a gentle feel. It is very easy to relax in Scopello. Outside the village is a market where good food and wine are available at very reasonable prices to bring back to the villa.
A significant feature of the area is the Zingaro Nature Reserve which is beautiful in itself and affords excellent hiking and fantastic swimming. The beaches are not crowded, the waters are clear and warm, and have the turquoise colour that one expects in the Caribbean. A highlight of the area.
Our Sicilian trip lasted two weeks, one of which we spent at the Villa Grecale. It was without question the best part of our holiday. Salvatore is an excellent, friendly, and informative host. He looks after his properties well and gave us very good advice about what to see and, particularly, how to rent a car. We will let him give you details of this, but we had an excellent car at a much lower price than we could otherwise have had. We highly recommend Salvatore and his properties at Scopello.
